Polymer clay canes seem to take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to do - but now I can show you the process in 5 minutes!
This is the Death's Head Hawk Moth, a personal favourite that I made toward the end of 2020. I over thought the process of making the top wings and actually, if you study the wings of any creature, you can pick out the highlights that make the particular creature special or unique.
I think I nailed it here but it's also that iconic body and the skull shape on the top of the thorax that make me go WOW!
Plus, it reminds me of one of my favourite movies 🥗🍷

Thank you so much - I don't yet but I can make one. I haven't art-ed for a little while due to life stuff but I'll put this on my list for when I get back into it 💙
If this is a tutorial, I wish you could actually do a detailed (not fast forward) video with everything shown in the camera view. Because there aren’t many or any tutorials on making moth canes. I’m new to polymer clay (taken tons of ceramics classes in undergrad BFA program but new to all of this)… just wish tutorials now a-days showed regular time speed videos and taught you how to do things

Thanks for commenting! This was never meant to be a tutorial as I'd never made one before, it was just want came out if my hands 😅 It's more a 'look what I did' video! I'd like to make more tutorials, especially on moths because you're right, there are hardly any moth tutorials! I'll bear it in mind when I start making videos again 💙 thank you for your feedback!
