I have three sets of those spears, 2 with skid steer quick attach and one with the global. The one with the global is on a 125 hp mfwd tractor. We handle a lot of balage with them and haven’t had any issues.
I like it. I wouldn’t mind trying it.
Great choice🦌
What was your cost per acre and why did you use smfc as opposed to your local co-op? Does the local not have truck like that?
About $30 an acre total. Smokey Mountain is local for us and willing and able to spray!
@@mohawkvalleyherefords4860 I only live a couple of miles from you. I pass you place to pick up corn and feed. The reason I asked is your location. I won't mention cities or counties, but I use both. I am a member in your county although I live the the Smokey Mountain store county.
Good luck with the trees😊
Guys I truly appreciate your honesty and willingness to share all, not just the successes. I just found your channel. Fantastic. I think we learn so much from our mistakes. From one small farmer to another, keep it up.
2-4D won't kill the clover, it will stunt it, but not kill it.
I love that, “always focus on the positive “. Great attitude.
Awesome
Awesome job
Wonderful idea, Awesome job. I wish you could put a bale in there using a 3 point tractor. Awesome job.
Three point tractor will back right in there! I have the poly wire with the handle, just unhook, and back right in with a bale!
Nice informative video!
Thanks for supporting our channel!
Put a gate behind it then your calves want climb into the feeder and get out. Just saying and I like the way it turned out. I know you have had a calf inside the feeder. Might save you some headache
I have a strand of hot there with a handle (acts as a gate), maybe you didn't see it? It works just as good, as my cattle are used to electric fence and are very calm. But, YES! Gate is a good idea and I have seen it before.
@@mohawkvalleyherefords4860 I missed the wire and sorry. I have seen this don’t but your was the first with the poly type. No disrespect intended and my mistake on the wire.
Sounds like a bull farm could be big money?
I feel like it would take a lifetime to get to that point. Also, the land...that's the kicker. Your either born into it or born into it...LOL!
This was a cool video. Very informative.
Thanks for watching and commenting! The search continues!
Excellent idea!!!
When that happens to me, I always have a hell of a time trying to get him to take the bottle make it look easy. What did you say is broke that prevents them from latching on?
Usually too weak. I stimulate the throat area to help stimulate swallow function and once they get some in them, they tend to perk up and want to start sucking. Sometimes, they won't suck at all, if that happens you need to "tube" them to get the Colostrum in them.
Was the heifer not letting the calf nurse
Gtsy again. Sending love and light 🫶
I hope you take us all to the sale with you. Really enjoyed the sale you and Sam went to.
Today's sale is online, however, I will be going to some local sales this year and hope to bring the camera along! Thanks for watching and commenting! Stay warm!
Polled herefords, easy calving bulls, excellent tit and udder scores. That makes my job easy at calving time.
Glad you’re back making some video,s! They’re very informative!
Please keep safe and warm
Just Subscribed!
I’m glad to see you back. 😊
Nice idea! Definitely looks like it'll make life easier for feeding
You must have some late fall calvers. I saw a couple pretty small calves in the background.
Our calving season is December through February. Although this coming breeding season I hope to synch a bit tighter. We have had a handful born in December so far!
Good see you happy new year. . Want to know how your current bull is bred ? Maybe get a video on him.
I am currently...Bull less! We are looking now. Our last Bull was a "Keystone" Son. We sold him after two calf crops. We kept some heifers, however two of the 4 we kept ended up having scurs. I am looking for a Homozygous Bull now. I don't want scurs or horns. Thanks for watching!
Hey glad to see you back. Love y’all’s videos
Thanks for watching! I hope to do more and better with them this year!
I've owned 2 poly feeders since 2005 and they've been one of THE BEST INVESTMENTS along with Hay Chix Hay nets! These feeders are SO TOUGH, & EASY to move around, so you don't have to struggle with feeding in the MUD! It's saved me THOUSANDS of dollars in hay costs & without having to own a tractor to move them! I LOVE what you have invented with yours! Could you please explain how you made the gravel, high use, ground pad? Your idea is FANTASTIC!!! Im subscribing to see more, because I love folks like you who are practical and smart!

What you call strap iron we in the building industry call it plumber's tape
My 5055e lasted about a 1000 hours. After that it has needed one big expensive repair after another. 1245 hours seal failed allowing clutch to get flooded with crankcase oil. Complete rebuild required. 1620 hours piston ring cracked, pieces went through the head and cracked two pistons. Had to rebuild engine with new pistons and valves. 2100 hours the dipstick to check hydraulic fluid got a notch shaved out of it somehow? Lost hydraulic function of the three point hitch. Will need to take the rock shaft apart and replace everything damaged by this sorry job of engineering. 1200 hours the loader started cracking at every joint. had to add steel every time I welded it. Now it works good but looks like crap. Its easy to say a tractor works great when it only has 100 hours on it mowing the grass. No more green lemons from Mumbai for me.
I hate to hear that! Hopefully mine will stand up better! So far so good...however, I am still under 300 hours.
Or your could spred fertility across your pasture by unrolling it. Look at all that golf course looking grass in the background. If you took that same electric fence and gave them a new portion every day - say even a wagon-wheel division in 30 plots around a water source - the other areas would have 30 or 60 days of rest and regrowth. They could stay on a section for a day or two before moving on, and you would be saving all that money on hay and other feed.
Great ideas!
Updates?
My clamps broke, not the clamps or strap itself, the screws were not big enough (diameter and length) I am going back with 4" Structural Screws. I will see how they do!
Sold!
I just got a Gallagher S100. I'm not real familiar with electric fence, so your video was really helpful to get me started.
Gotta an older 5075e. Only 2 things-one, No emergency brake, 2 throttle is on the instrument panel by the steering wheel-yuck. I think the new ones, like yours, has changed. Otherwise, it’s been a very good tractor, good power, strong, very quite cab, etc.
I’d like to see how those drywall screws and strap hold up to cows!
Thanks
More walking and lettuce
Всем привет и отличного настроения 👋
Good talk about being careful around cattle and Bulls...Son. Good Job on this video...it's a work in progress and you are getting better and better at it.
How far apart are your fence posts?
7' if I'm remembering correct
nice looking steers.. I have a wagyu angus cross and my friend has 4 miniature Herford cows...
Oh cool I’ve always loved miniature herford
@@mohawkvalleyherefords4860 oh for sorting them cows next time take a broken fishing pole use about half if it and attach a bandana or rag on the end.. it will extend your reach and cut time in half for sorting
Those are a couple nice looking steers.
Thanks
Thank you
Great job Son!
Thanks
Great job separating the cattle!
Thank you so much
How far apart is the post
I want to say around 7' or so. It's wide enough for me to pull my tractor through.
