  Thanks for sharing. What a special place and amazing hunt with family. I was able to bring my Wife and Daughters on my hunt and made some once in a lifetime memories we will not soon forget. Bob and the Johnsons were so accomodating and so helpful in making certain we had a great experience. Needless to say all of my girls are applying for that tag and I hope to experience a hunt there with one of my daughters. Rob

  Critical duty is made to penetrate car doors and such better than critical defense. Neither will come close to Double Tap.

  I was taught that it is not only unethical but not fair chase. To shoot an animal that was bedded or sleeping. I guess like everything else there's no honor left in hunting. It's a shame. I could never look at a mounted buck I shot while it was bedded. Some people It's all about the horns, not the experience.

  What is their policy regarding hunter days in the ranch hunting, and ability to hunt with a bow? I have almost the same number of points as your dad had, and it'll likely be the last time I hunt Utah for elk the way the state is going... Thanks

  It’s a draw system for the CWMU tags offered by the State of Utah

  @@ivideowildlifeTV I know the system, I just wanted to find out if they (Johnson Ranch Operators) are like most CWMU properties where they limit your days to the minimum required by the state, and they tell you which areas are closed because they are saving specific bulls for "paying clients".

  @@lspostma they do limit your days, but are very reasonable, no limited access to property on foot, some roads are limited to hike in only.

  @@ivideowildlifeTV thanks for the additional info. I would consider a CWMU that has a bit more lax restrictions on it. I am in the hunting industry, and have heard tons of horror stories surrounding CWMU operators and guys spending a decade's points on them only to be corralled into confined parts or timeframes for the hunt.

  If you want to see lots of elk in early winter, the border of this ranch is amazing. 1-2k elk winter in there.

  Actually by Mid November most the elk have left the ranch heading to winter grounds on public land, a few May winter on the CWMU down low near I-70
