Going down into Oceanus and hearing those vocals at first, I thought it was just background to the music -- until Melinöe commented on it. It struck me it was diegetic then, not merely music, and it seemed more involved than merely Homer as the 4th-wall-break narrator. Definitely pulled me forward -- and to my death against the enemies a few times!

this one really tugs on my heartstrings, and i think it's because it's so different from your usual "support has arrived" tunes from the first game. melinoe has the full support of everyone around her (save.. nem, i guess), so the arrival of a friend to help you without the tension associated with both than's theme and all the angst there is a huge contrast. it's a more gentle theme, definitely, but it's patient. you can literally hear years of close friendship in this song. it's kinda wild.

Freaking love the brass! It came out of nowhere considering the rest of the soundtrack. Also, really vindicates all the work you put into the game. Just beat it today, but of course I'm gonna keep playing, I heard somewhere there's another ending if you keep at it.

I remember when I first got to Oceanus and the lyrics of this song first started. I was looking at Pom of Power options, and the first words I made out were "Don't be afraid..." Before I had the context of the lyrics being Sirens luring in sailors, I thought the game was directly telling me to calm the hell down as I was very much on edge between a brand new biome I knew nothing about, and Eris' bloody curse.

It's interesting. In the first game, there's only one track that has woodwinds in it, because the story primarily takes place in the Underworld, and the dead don't breathe. Here it looks like they're keeping to that, but because they're boss tracks, the woodwind instruments (flute, sax, etc.) go absolutely nuts.

I love how Scylla seems to be losing her temper during the bridge, getting more animated and frenetic as she's imagining Melinoë being abused by the deep, before regaining composure for the refrain.
