MV Freedom is a 2004 Nordhavn 43' trawler proudly owned and operated by Captains Shawn and Elizabeth, along with their boat dogs Mr. Sully & Miss Martha (RIP to our beloved Sandy who passed away in December 2019).
Prior to owning Freedom, Shawn & Elizabeth owned MV Orca, a 40' Searay, a 36' Carver Sport Sedan and a 24' Glastron Cruiser that started their boating journeys. In March 2020, they moved aboard Freedom full time in Seattle, WA and enjoy cruising within Puget Sound, north into British Columbia and down the west coast into Oregon.
After years of dreaming and scheming, Shawn & Elizabeth found their dream boat and aptly named her Freedom to signify what she represents to them and the life she can make possible...a life at sea with the freedom to safely explore destinations most people can't get to by car, plane or train. They are currently planning to cruise the globe starting with Alaska in 2024!

So excited to see you post - miss your adventures!😊
I was searching around your page looking for your last post. I am thrilled to see a recent one. Like everyone else seems to be saying, I am looking forward to your latest adventure. I have been enjoying Tony Fleming's amazing work, but you and Shawn are much more relatable. I hope all is well and the passion is still there. Take care of yourselves.

Been through there. Unnerving to hear the rocks churning at the bottom of those whirlpools.
You'd only go near that with a fast boat and two working engines!
Hope ya'll are safe and well. Dont let no pirates hijack your beautiful wife. Stay safe out there 🙏

Congratulations on getting your captains license. Yeah the rules of the road can be complicated.
My physical books will be the hardest things to let go of. I've been reading ebooks for a number of years now though. Ran out of room for the dead trees.
You two have a great chemistry
Do you have a water maker
what song is being played when you were walking on the dock--like i am listening to knkx
Our family loves Sucia ❤
I won’t invade their privacy by sharing their boat location: suffice it to say, I came across their location by accident. As best I can tell, they haven’t done much cruising for several months. I could be completely wrong, my knowledge comes from checking for MV Freedom while I’m doing my thing. Hope all is well, look forward to seeing new adventures. 😎🇺🇸
That was a long trip, but it seems like y'all have everything worked out between you. You mentioned pirates once. Have y'all ever encountered pirates, and what would/did you do? Thanks for sharing.
That was great. As a private pilot I enjoy understanding the “avionics”. I like the redundant AP and your AIS system is almost like ADSB. Really neat stuff
Have ourboards . Tried lithuim only to save weight. Pulled them off cause charging system was erratically 13.2 to 19 volts. I even bought ones made for marine use. I think they were shutting off with built in bms. Boat volts steady now with my new lead acids back in . Maybe try my lithuims on a solar project or diesel truck. I think with regular alternator they will be fine.
Why can I only watch the video on 360p
Have you tried Star Link internet yet?
Great editing. I'm hoping to be there next June and I am glad I was able to see this preview.
Woohoo!!
