  Great question, but it's a standard patch note that we expected and in every past expansion it's been a weird translation. In the Japanese patchnotes it says "Fisher and Crafter Jobs" specifically. It shouldn't change the gameplan, and I still have mine ready to go. There's always the chance that it *might* be different this expansion because we don't know for 100% certainty, but the worst you lose is your time at least. I posted a video about the crafter/gatherer patch notes as well, if you want a vocal explanation.

  There's actually a multitude of reasons that spirit bonding percentages increase, but for the purpose of how I interpret the patch, the biggest one is the "item level" difference between the gear and the item you're gathering. That makes the high ilevel gear worse to use to spiritbond, as the items we gather don't have as much of a difference.

  I think this is a change just meant to normalize the rates between scrip and crafted gear, so those without pentameld don't miss out as much? Hopefully it doesn't disincentivize going for a spiritbonding setup, I was probably going to try doing this T-T

  It could be! I really enjoy the Spiritbond Setup, but I would definitely understand if they swapped it up. It's a weird tech and late-game spiritbonding is strange right now.

  The big gap between pentameld and scrip gear is the materia melds and not item level. If they really wanted to close that gap they could either give scrip gear a +spirit bond stat (which already exists in the game), or they could increase base spirit bond speed and reduce /eliminate the benefit from melds, or a number of other things. I think this is specifically meant to make it so that people who do regular gathering can continue to earn some spirit bond even late into an expansion. To put it into Endwalker terms: they want people using AR-Caen gathering gear and Indigator gear to get the same number of materia while gathering chontrite ore.

  @@thevoxdeus I think (HOPE) it's to make it so that spiritbonding is great even in the later parts of an expansion, for even the most casual gatherer's. But it's not just the melds that help the spiritbonding, as a Pentamelded Indagator's set gets less Spiritbonding than a Pentamelded Ar-Caen gear when doing the Legendary Nodes. Overall, it's a system that probably deserves some updates, let's just hope it doesn't make it significantly harder.

  Yes! Provided you do the lower level nodes (like the ones I have in the description). The easiest way to tell: When you go to gather a collectable, if you use Scrutiny and see that you would gain 450 Collectability with a Scour, that is the max the menu will show you, meaning your stats are high enough. If you have anything under 450, then you'd need to up your stats some more.

  Wanna add, there are a couple more challenge log entries that could be super worth the effort. Levemetes can be set up so you can get 30% off one from challenge logs and then ignore them after that. (19 leves, makes sure they have the same 4 panels) as well as an extra 10% from 1 Guildhest. Probably not worth it if there's actually a queue for this one, but not terrible if you can get in and get out quickly. FATEs will also reward a cool 30% for doing 10 of them, so while you're waiting for your Leveling queue to pop, go ahead and grind those out. You can do 4 in advance if you wanna be absolutely sure you finish these up. Between all turn-in and challenge logs (WT x2, FL roulette x2, Leveling roulette, dungeon logs, guildhest log, commend log, levemete logs, FATE logs, Arkasodara x9, Pixie x9, Gold quest x23) you're looking at roughly 7 levels worth of experience, I think? If you're scummy enough to do the quick Bozja strats for early levels, you could easily be ready to go like an hour or two after daily reset, I think. It's gonna be interesting seeing how fast I can try-hard the 80-90 level progression.

  I plan on timing how long it takes, so I'll let you know know when I do! I haven't done the full math on how much EXP it'll be, but I'm guessing I'll be 86/87 no problem, and sprinkle in ~3 more dungeon runs and I should be level 90 pretty quick.

  @@TenelenTheScrub My math added up to ~7 levels with the things I suggested above. If you did all the turn ins and went straight for dungeon runs after, that’d be 3 Ktisis runs and 1 Aitiascope to finish, but more likely you’d sprinkle those dungeon runs earlier in the grind, particularly on odd-numbered levels as the exp doesn’t scale.

  Passively, Custom Deliveries are the best. You can a good amount if you do two different ones a week, (a couple thousand). Actively: You have to do the timed collectable nodes. White Scrips: Ocean Fishing is also a good source, and it's great for leveling. If it would help, I'd be happy to put together a video on the different ways to get them?

  For clusters go to Mor Dhona and afk farm the 12 minute timed node as you get roughly 350-500 clusters per node depending on RNG. For crystals Retainters or aetherial reduction. Don't like Aetherial reduction fro anything but fishing so I just retainer my crystals (or buy them on the market with my voiddrake Gardening profits)

  Am I not correct in saying that rather than (Scrutiny + Scour) x 2, you should be doing (Scrutiny + Meticulous) x 2? The only time (Scrutiny + Scour) is better is if you only get 1 proc, but you're still getting 3 chances to get a random no integrity loss which means you're really really unlikely to end up worse. For full clarity this would change the rotation to: Scrutiny, Meticulous, Scrutiny, Meticulous. Then If = 1000: gather, or if >= 850: Meticulous -> gather, else Scour -> gather. It's a small change but it could end up with you not losing a single integrity at all.

  Hmm interesting, yeah I think you're correct in your math, but it's pretty much just a big gamble and I think overall worse. You're hoping to get 2 Procs for 500 each for the 1000 Collectability instead of just 1 Proc with Scour for 550 out of the two hits. Your idea for the rotation makes sense, so we'll stick with that notion. If you manage to hit both both procs to get 500 each, you're getting a 37.5% chance of saving one integrity, and only a 6% chance of saving two. I don't know what the odds are hitting 500 on each one is though, so that's really the part that I'm not sure on. If you lose either of the Meticulous hits and don't get 500 on one, you'll add in an additional Meticulous hit, which would bump your integrity saving chance to 42% on *one* of them, which would mean 58% of the time you've gathered less than a Scrutinty+Scour rotation. Hitting three meticulous and losing 0 integrity though, that's a 1.5% chance.... If my math is right here, you're pretty much gambling on a 37.5% chance to save one integrity, *if* we think hitting 400 or 500 is a 50/50. If you lose one of two 50/50s though, you're losing one integrity on each node 58% of the time. If you lose two of two 50/50s, you're losing one integrity on each node 62.5% of the time. Unless hitting a 500 proc over a 400 proc is higher than 50/50, it doesn't seem to work out in the long term.

  @@TenelenTheScrub Think your math is correct, but is missing overall picture. On 2 or 0 ! procs, Meticulous always equals or outperforms. Assuming your intuition is 50%, then overall 29% (0.5 x 0.58) of the time you will do worse than Scour by using Meticulous, 46 % you will do the same, and 25% you will do better(on both 2! and 0! you have 2 more attempts at meticulous over Scour, so [0.25 x 0.375]x2 + the 0.0625 from the 1!). Not to mention, some of that is not only better, but significantly better and would offset 2 failed attempts. So even at the best of odds for Scour, Meticulous equals or outperforms it 71% of the time. If you changed Intuition to say 70%, then Meticulous meets 75% & outperforms 40% of the time. My own maths may be off here, but in the bigger picture it really starts to show how beneficial it can be. But we are always hinging on RNG, no matter how hard we try.

  if you don't want to wait around until your gp hits 400 again, you can also just do scour + scour (or scour + meticulous if you get any procs) to hit the first threshhold. the result is not nearly as good, but still gives you something to do while waiting for your gp/cordials and does improve your clusters/crystals per hour

  i kinda got into the game late so i was JUST able to max every DoL/H at 90. spent some time getting the scrip gear since i thought theres no reason to burn so much effort getting the 1st BiS. will the 620 scrip gear with melds be able to craft the next BiS in DT?? :'D

  From everything I know, it *should* be enough! We will know for certain when it comes out, but if it isn't there will be much easier ways to get gear to make the new stuff, so I'd just wait it out if I were you!

  I have never farmed crystals or clusters, and have never had to buy them in an effort to max all crafters and do all dailies. I have never had to farm or craft for gil, and have never not been able to buy something I want as well as randomly give millions of gil away to random sprouts. I give a few million gil away every week to random sprouts too. Sometimes I wonder if I am playing the same game as other people :(

  I often supply my savage static with full pentamelded gear, so I can burn through resources a lot. Being able to craft all those items, and provide all the materia cost me a lot, but I like to be able to keep doing things like that. I'm also pushing for 10,000 HQ crafts on multiple crafters for the achievement, which takes a good chunk as well. Just for fun, I would love to hit Gil cap once. I just like numbers going up :)

  It's a speedrunning tactic. It gives you time to think for a second without the in game timer ticking. There's some extra uses, especially with Chronos to make him animation skip to save some time when he teleports to, but in this run I mainly use it to try to see the door choices early, pause to think about which I want and then move to them as quick as I can.

  You should be able to level crafters after release by spamming collectibles. I would advise not to waste any leves on them. Leves are better spent on the gathering jobs, so you can be 100 super-fast... Especially with fishing... Fishing sucks to level without leves imo.

  the time it takes to spirit bond is not worth the small amount of gil it generates-the materia market has not been reliable since server visit-there's much more effective, fun, and passive ways to make way more gil

  Ooof, well...I don't have personal experience with it, but from every person I've talked to, and everything I've seen elsewhere, it tells me that the Crafter Leves will be worth 1k Exp... I don't want to tell you to get rid of them because I could be wrong, but I hope I'm wrong for your sake!

  you use lvl 90 gear to do level 91-99 recipes, then you craft the new crafter/gatherer gear at lvl 100.

  you can buy the lvl100 NQ from vendor, which is more than enough to make any HQ stuff, and even if devs make it harder this tier, you can still meld with X materia and remove the melds later cause it will be 100% success for regular melds

  100% going Picto. I remember Viper reminding me a bit too much of Ninja when they first revealed it... and the media tour stuff didn't really impress me very much. This isn't to say pictomancer is the most original thing or whatever, but I think it is interesting as a concept and the stuff they've shown looks like it could be quite fun.

  Side quests like these ones are a weird exception to the rule, you're able to turn them in on any job that meets the level requirement, and it doesn't care which one you were when you accepted it!

  This is the only mmo where ive never actually found any use for the currency, all the gear is given as you progress and then through tomestones. I have millions and nothing to do with it lol

  Absolutely! This game is interesting in the fact that you don't *need* currency, but there are tons of very expensive things that you can get if you have it! There's at least a few mounts that you can only buy in game for millions (one of them is 50 million Gil)! As well, if you're into going to the peak of either Savage raiding, or Crafting/Gathering Pentamelding, it can end up costing a lot to get all the Materia you need if you don't want to spiritbond it yourself. It just depends on what you enjoy! (I don't even mention housing, because that's a whole different expensive hobby)

  I think you forgot to mention one pretty big prep thing for DT ^^ Stocking up on Better Crowned Pie (and perhaps Spiritbond potions but we might get a new potion for dawntrail and Squadron Spiritborning Manual) for easy Materia farming as it will be a multi trillion gill market the first month and a half (and PROBABLY be valuable even late into DT because of cosmic exploration) as well as stocking up on Hi-Cordials (I have over 2k stocked and it's only from island sanctuary, despite rarely doing it). Additionally, I wouldn't use my Custom deliveries on EXP for my gatherers, as getting the new scrips will be considerably more tedious than getting the extra EXP from the the crystalline mean equivalent in Dawntrail.

  I'll be saving my leves for crafter turnins. I rarely do them (thus leaving tons of gill on the table each month out of laziness) but on expansion launches I tend to do them for the gill + spirit bonding (as Materia is a massive market early on)

  Only DoH Leves will put their XP to 1k each from everything I've seen. DoL will still give full XP. That's how it's been in the past at least, so let's see how it works in Dawntrail!

  Since I am going to go through Endwalker MSQ as Pictomancer, I will not be doing side-quests in those zones as Pictomancer will be Level 81 before I start the MSQ and she'll pick up all the MSQ so she will probably get to Level 91 as soon as she hits the final boss. However, I can do the side-quests on Viper since he will not be getting any of the roulettes early on and I want to focus on him too. ^_^

  Great video! Btw, it's Wondrous Tails and not Wonderous! I see this mistake often for some reason haha Small thing: For the side quests, they scale very poorly on exp. I will turn them in at lvl 80 for 80% exp of the level.

  Yeahhhh, I've just got the habit now of saying it wrong after so many years lol Definitely turning in my side quests early though. The more I've thought about it (and thanks to some other comments) I think getting to 81 from the Side Quests and first Tribe quest is the best call.

  Not sure why all these videos about getting to 90 and 100 ASAP are being posted. With only a couple hours of play a day you can have all jobs to 100 in under a few weeks ... and then complain you are out of content before savage content is released. Every expansion since HW has been the same.

  Under your Actions & Traits Menu (I think Default key is "P"), go to the "General" tab, and there is an Icon called "Materia Extraction" You can drag that onto your hotbar and use it anywhere! Or you can right click your gear and click "Extract Materia" but make sure you DON'T click "Retrieve Materia" as that's different!
