I like that you actually spoke quickly instead of just recording it and then speeding the footage up - I hate the sound of sped up footage. I also get Nausicaa and Mononoke confused! I think it's because they both have female protagonists who side themselves with nature over humanity and technological advancement. The difference is primarily aesthetic: futuristic sci-fi vs historical fantasy. But in a lot of ways, the stories are similar.

I think irv's memories are leaking between innie and outie modes because he's sleep deprived. Outside he chugs coffee and obsessively paints the same thing, so that he could affect his innie. And the innie keeps falling asleep at work and gets punished for it. The outie is causing all of it on purpose, he's on a mission to out lumin's secrets and motives

Bro, what you are describing as a film is what most men from the late 80s early 90s grew up with... those movies were how most white men from my generation where introduced to the medium. This is clearly a generational problem, because you described me exactly. I can say for sure that you are from a younger generation, and are seeing the world from a different view than us. All the big movies you gave as examples where huge hit with a cultural impact that have forged the mind of teenagers at the time. Also, sorry but Fight Club was seen about manlyhood and consumerism at the time, the analysis you shared is anachronic to the movie and totally irrelevant at the time. Its just millennials rewriting history, sorry bro ! And yes, it works when trying to pick up some women from the same generation, using exactly the analysis of joker based on the 2 Scorsese movies (true story)

Proof that America can't handle the idea of a panel show. Btw check out basically any popular UK panel show, like Taskmaster, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI, etc

It's just not a format most Americans have been exposed to. I was lucky to get QI recommended to me many years ago, but most Americans don't watch British TV. Clearly, people actually like it now that they have seen it. Cheers, mate.

Media literacy is dead. And common sense. Because this show is so simple. So simple. It even spells the plot to you. Exposition is clear cut. Yet countless people in the comments who claim to have watched the show completely failed to grasp it. Even when its spelled out to you.

The main theory about Ms. Casey is that part of her brain was injured in the car crash and the only way she could be saved is to make her a permanent innie. She's basically an experiment and that's why she and Mark are being closely watched by Ms. Cobel/Selvig and the reason for that probably has to do with her mother, Charlotte.

Who's to even say that she was ever actually in an accident? That coulda been cover for abduction by Lumon. When she is sent to the testing floor, that could mean she is one that never leaves Lumon, meaning her Gemma identity may never be activated. Or, as they activate the innie on the elevator or in the stairwell doorway, they might deactivate anywhere as well, and the testing floor handles the people in their outie version.

Heroes is still one of my favorite series, and this is among those with crappy source materials(as bad as Heroes following 1st season are, I still consider them canon, until the part where Hiro offered to be villain(cuz this leads to Arthur Petrelli stole Hiro's powers) where anywhere following Hiro offered to be villain stop being canon for me) Hiro Nakamura are closest thing Overpowered character done right that Heroes had(his time stopping powers are weak to speedsters, making brain tumor unnecesarry for nerfing him) Nathan using mindwiped Sylar as former's new vessel was Heroes' grave mistake Exposed future was Poor Man's My Hero Academia

I think that while they're new, smartypants and thousandaires have so far been really fun, and it's because like most of dropout the focus is on having fun with the game/show rather than winning. thousandaires is a group of friends (usually of established cast, and they all like each other so there's great chemistry) and the whole point is who can have the most fun. smartypants is a rotating group and they get to talk about something that interests them (it's not really a game show but it's still great so far)

Great video! I absolutely love this show and the intriguing mystery it has created. I feel that the creators have absolutely planned out the story, and know _exactly_ where they plan to take the show. If the first season is any indication of the level of care given to progressing the plot, while slowly unveiling the mystery- yet maintaining a great degree of intrigue- then I feel we’re in good, capable hands. I really enjoy the fact that (unlike other current series that I’ve watched, such as _From_ ) it doesn’t feel like they are making it up as they go along. So excited for season 2!

My theory is that Lumon is behind the ‘accidental’ death of Gemma, and her body was donated or stolen by Lumon and Ms Casey is either a clone or brain dead and artificially kept alive on the testing floor.

The couple I thought of was Odo and Kira from Star Trek: DS9 and they passed -- I think precisely because they weren't intended to be each other's love interests. Their chemistry turned out to be fantastic, and they became closer friends with a deep and intimate understanding of each other over seven years of television, then got together officially in the last season. Not right at the end, but definitely without much time for the Tropes to set in. Otherwise, I generally agree, especially with the note that queer romance is almost always a little more nuanced / well-written. Even truly trashy gay movies I've seen have put more thought into WHY the two characters are attracted to each other than your average blockbuster "well, they're a man and woman in proximity to each other, so OBVIOUSLY they're gonna bang" If you did a companion video on why all fictional sex scenes are unrealistic, I would love that! I've never met anyone else who dislikes fictional sex scenes as much as I do, even when they're done tastefully.

I always found Sylar's power acquisition the most interesting thing about the show. Since we know that abilities deal with the brain, since Sylar always had to open someone's head and any immortal's healing stops when the brain is punctured or even when Claire didn't start healing until after Sylar put the top of her skull back on, I always saw Sylar's ability as rewiring his own brain to gain the power he learned. Another reason I think this is because when Sylar learned how to passively copy abilities, like Peter, he didn't have the control that he'd normally have, like when Peter couldn't control the nuking power but we see Sylar playing with it right after he killed Ted. If I'm not mistaken, I think Sylar said something about him and Claire being the only people left after a while, knowing Peter had similar powers to his. Might have just been during the time he wanted to kill Peter though, so it might not have meant that he knew that the specific immortality they had was different. Rene, who blocks people's powers, began to get a nose bleed when trying to hold back Arthur, who was way stronger and trying to force his abilities to work, so I'm guessing even power negation just affects the brain.
