    What’s the the big difference between the 10th Gen & 9th Gen iPad? When I go the 9th Generation one I was very disappointed that there wasn’t any difference from the generation before. To add insult to injury Apple refused to credit me with $ for my old one. Fortunately it got mailed back to me despite them saying at the get go they wouldn’t if they didn’t accept it. I gifted it to a senior who had been helpful during my recovery from emergency surgery, but was using a dying windows laptop 💻. They were thrilled & felt they had won the lottery. Although they have never had an Apple product before they are a convert. Your videos have been helpful.

    I replaced a 5th gen iPad with a 10th gen. The deciding factor was the old one constantly having issues multitasking.

    You should buy a new Apple device whenever Apple tells you to. That’s the cult of Apple marketing and corporate greed. They are the King’s of “planned obsolescence”.

    I upgraded from 6th generation to 10th and absolutely couldn’t be happier. Works great and all that you bring up is absolutely right on. And saved a bunch of money too. And I use a $12 generic pen and have no issues.

    I have an iPad 6 and planning to upgrade soon. I've been debating between the 10th Gen and the M2 Air 11". I had been leaning toward the latter but your statement about a Ferrari that has to obey the speed limit made me reconsider. Two months ago, I bought a MacBook Air with the M3 chip, which is my main machine. So perhaps the 10th Gen iPad would be suitable for my needs. The money saved could be used for accessories (though I don't use a keyboard or Apple Pencil with my current iPad).

    This is the best iPad value for sure. I just dislike the way the pencil charges. But it only takes a little bit of time to charge so I just overlook it. Other than that, it's a fantastic iPad.

    Great video. You are right Ipads are getting unbelievably affordable. I've been tempted to buy one for a few months, but it is more of a want than a need. I like sitting down to my two monitor PC connected to a mouse and keyboard. I have an Apple TV streaming device and Iphone which connects me to the Apple ecosystem. I kinda of like being plugged into both ecosystems. Some day I'm sure I'll get a tablet and it will likely be an Ipad with its affordability.

    Lots of bang for the buck. Seen it under $300 and that’s tempting thou I really don’t need another iPad. If the next SE comes in at a good price point like this iPad that’s going to be an Android killer with the new iOS satellite texting.

  • @RichBowlin
    @RichBowlin11 сағат бұрын

    I agree. I've got my eye on the new SE. We'll see if it gets the new form factor and still keeps a decent price. If so, it'll be a bargain. Thanks so much for watching!

    Rich - great video - agree with everything, but for me the pencil option was a deal breaker, so I got the iPad Air with M1 chip. While I don't use the pricy Apple Pencil, I have one of the less expensive non-Apple pencils that charges magnetically and does about 95% for the action of the true pencil ... for about 30% of the price. The thought of keeping up with the dongle/cable for the Gen 1 pencil, instead of just mag-connecting to the side of the iPad was the selling feature.

  • @RichBowlin
    @RichBowlin11 сағат бұрын

    Yep. How strange to have charge your pencil that way. I've got a 3rd party pencil sent to me by a company wanting me to review it. It actually works great for how I use it and it only costs $20. Thanks so much for watching!

    This is timely for me. I have a 10.9” iPad and keyboard that I bought in 2017. I also picked up a 27” iMac back then. The iMac has been upgraded recently and still works great for photography, and home office duties. The poor old iPad on the other hand is a bit of a sight. The keyboard is coming apart all around its edge. It doesn’t even connect anymore, I just use it as a stand. There’s an odd oval shaped light area in the middle of the screen, and the battery has so little life that I keep it plugged in all the time that I use it. So..I’m looking at new ones. They’ve come so far that they’re not far from a MacBook. In size, capability, and unfortunately price. (With the keyboard.) Perhaps this basic one is worth a look after all. It’s my mobile, and “on the road” tool. My main problem with my old iPad has always been how slowly it loads photos. When I’m on motorcycle trips, I may have 200 - 300 shots at the end of the day. I could only import them in small batches, and it would take half an hour. Would this model be much better in that regard? Thanks for a helpful review.

    I'm sure it would be. How fast photos upload from your camera to the iPad (through iCloud) can be affected by internet speed. But for me, it's almost instantaneous. Hope this helps.

    @@RichBowlin Thanks for response. I think your thinking of photos shot with, and transferred from a phone or sent from the camera over snapbridge. I plug the SD card from my camera into an adapter that plugs into the iPad. That is very quick on my iMac.

    Thanks! The reasons you stated are why I bought an iPad Air 2 1/2 years ago, but things have changed. I will buy the new 13” Pro. I am legally blind, so the filters are different to me. The brightness and contrast come first, and the size is equal in need as bigger really is better for those of us with reduced vision. The clincher is the camera in the middle of the long side! I do telehealth visits and Zoom meetings, and now I won’t have to turn the iPad around to portrait configuration! I’m going all out and getting a new case with a built in keypad, too. I love my Magic Keypad that I use with both the Mac and the iPad, but I need to be smarter-portable as the iPad goes everywhere I go - even the grocery store! For me, it is all about sight and what I can see. It may well be my last iPad because they do last so long, and I am 81, so I will have the best device I can buy to travel those last miles with me. (I could never survive a hospital stay without my iPad!). My iPhone once saved my life, when EMS had to find me using GPS, and my iPad is cellular enabled, so each one can find the other when one is left behind, too. Nearly every blind person I know uses Apple devices because they have the best accessibility features and keep us tech-y! Thanks for your review! It helped me narrow down my filters and decide to buy this wonderful new Pro model! 👍 😀

    I am in trouble. I got an I-Phone 12 refurb. last wk and with trial & error tried to set it up so got beyond the initial screen where I chose English and wish I could fix anything I did wrong. 1st of all, I am clueless at how to navigate from one screen to another. I.e. I got on the active camera & had to switch off on the button on the right side & back on. I did enter a passcode. It tells me iMessage is not working. I don't know how to get my contact list switched from my old I-Phone7, don't know how to link phone to my MacBook Air. Can you help?

    Great video, thank you. A major consideration for me whenever I upgrade my iPad will be finding the right mix of sizes and capabilities between iPhone, iPad, and laptop/ computer. One question is whether the largest iPad with magic keyboard could serve as my main computer. If so, and I could do everything on just two devices, both running iOS, that would be an attractive option. I’d probably choose the largest iPhone as well (which I already have), which is closer in size to the iPad Mini. But, if I still need a laptop I’d be less inclined to choose the largest iPad. If anyone has thoughts about that please share!
