    Impregnated wood leaches into wet soil. Be mindful of stained wood, painted wood, and especially never use creosote treated lumber for gardening you plan on eating. Good idea recycling!

    @stevelarson5103 For herbs that wouldn't be too much of a problem. Some flowers could do well even, but a few drilled holes in the bottom and it would be fixed. Again though, I wouldn't eat anything grown from these - cancer and other illnesses have been linked to improper garden beds. I do think it would look beautiful in a unique way to have flowers spilling out of drawers on someone's property. I see what they were going for, but the danger just needs to be realized and like you suggested - drain holes - then it's a fine use of recycling and creativity.

    Even canned drinks have a thin layer of plastic that separates the metal from the liquid. So don't think canned drinks are any better. Don't believe me? Look it up on KZread.

    I worked for a major glass company years ago, Foster Forbes. At that time there were many glass companies all over the country, most of which are closed now. At that time, all the jars and bottles were made of glass, now they’re all made of plastic. When glass factories started going out of business in the 80’s and 90’s, there were campaigns stating “Only the Best Comes in Glass” but plastic was cheaper, lighter, less breakable, so plastic prevailed.

    You know how much better our environment would be if we got rid of plastics and just reused glass bottles. But what do I know I am just a biologist!

    I’ve always lived near the ocean and I’ve always kind of wanted to be a marine biologist, but I’m almost 60 years old. I have an AA in general science, a bachelors in communication, and an MBA I’m not sure where to start because coming off of five years of medical recovery from a serious accident but video your video really spoke to me. I’m in the Washington area. How do I get in touch with you?

  • @carissaandclimate
    @carissaandclimate2 ай бұрын

    Hi! First of all youʻre awesome, and second of all Washington has so many incredible conservation orgs. I would recommend joining one near your community as a volunteer and sharing your skills with them! you may be able to get part time work or at least lend a hand to help <3 our ocean seriously needs good communicators right now!

    The problem is the economy. No one wants to discuss that. Everyone is doing what this system favors. Nothing wrong here. End of discussion.

  • @trinsit
    @trinsit2 ай бұрын

    It's not. Has nothing to do with economics. It has to do with who's currently making money and their refusal to allow that to not happen. Not to say it's easy, but it is very doable without the drastic death.
