Untangle Your Mind

Untangle Your Mind

Heartfelt pointers to pierce through the mind and have you taste the Peace that surpasses all understanding. This channel aims to share with you deep insights on the nature of Reality and your true Identity. They will shed new light on what you already know, revealing insights that are radical and yet feel most natural.

These talks are recorded in a meditative state and can be listened to as a guided contemplation. They're loosely structured on notes that are hastily jotted down whenever inspiration hits. The videos and music are added later to help deliver a heartfelt experience and profound understanding of the Self.

This is my magnum opus. I'm grateful for every time these words may be heard and hope they find their way into your heart 🙏. And if they do, please subscribe and share this labor of love.

    I wasn't aware of being aware till the I appeared on me. But this I got entangled with the world, with desires, with good and bad, with becoming.... and this veil appeared between me and myself and between me and realty, the mirror got stained and whatever I see is transformed by the non-I and covered the pure of the pure which is so close, closer than the seeing itself. Now I know but I am still cleaning the mirror day after day just to be pure awareness.

    This reminded me of Master Hui-neng's response to Shen-hsui. Shen-hsui wrote this verse on his understanding: "Our body is the Bodhi-tree, And our mind a mirror bright. Carefully wipe them hour by hour, And let no dust alight." Hui-neng responded with this: "Bodhi originally has no tree, The mirror has no stand. Buddha-nature is always clean and pure; Where is there room for dust (to alight)?" The verse led to Hui-neng being chosen as the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism.

  • @JaafarHaj
    @JaafarHaj3 күн бұрын

    @untangle-your-mind In reality the awareness is always pure as the dust is the false views and they have no real existence. It seems the response from Hui-Neng is to tell Shen-Hsui that he attained the pure consciousness of the self and in this sate there is no dust and no body. Thanks for reminding me of that :-)

    “14 billion years in the making is the outcome of the love to be. “ But who was there to love before the being and who is there to love beyond being ? So if love to be is while being, when being ceases to be, does the love ceases to love?

  • @untangle-your-mind
    @untangle-your-mind5 күн бұрын

    This can't be thought of linearly. Maybe cyclically. The cycle begins at the end... in the complete fulfilment of love. The starting point is what love desires -- to be together forever in peace. That is the base Reality; the Absolute. Pure Aware-ness. The 'love to be' appears in that pure Awareness. Love is the first movement. When you look deeply into the sense that 'I Am', you find this all embracing Love of just be-ing. It swallows you whole to make you see that there is only the Whole.

    Do we really get any insights from considering science, electrons, nerve cells etc.? If everything "outer" is illusory, and the interactions between mind and awareness are all that constitutes reality, then from that standpoint science and electrons belong to illusion. Even the brain is only a mental construct, for all we know.

  • @untangle-your-mind
    @untangle-your-mind6 күн бұрын

    There is at least some value in breaking down a mental model from the inside by pointing out its contradictions. When it breaks, Reality is most obvious. Dreams, too, have rules and laws. I see science as describing the laws of this dream universe from within the dream. Each life is a dream within this dream and so there are laws common to all.

    What does "act on it" mean?

  • @untangle-your-mind
    @untangle-your-mind7 күн бұрын

    “Believe me, you are the Supreme Reality. Don't doubt my words, don't disbelieve me. I am telling you the truth - act on it.” It's the perfect closing to keep the disciple honest. How are you supposed to act if you are the Supreme Reality? Do you need to do anything? Improve in some way? Gain something from someone? Be afraid of losing something you have come to possess? Act on It is the reminder and commandment that pacifies the mind.

  • @hannahlily11
    @hannahlily116 күн бұрын

    @untangle-your-mind Thank you. This connects to another query, or so it feels. I can't recall the 'quote' exactly, so I'll try to describe the gist of it, or at least how I've heard it. I can't remember if it was Nisargadatta or Siddharameshwar. It was about confusion. They said that the mind had not gone into confusion, had not looked at it or seen it clearly, but was only looking at pain, questioning pain. At this 'stage', feelings of confusion are the most highlighted, painful aspect of pain, when the ego is loud here. Oh.. well I feel somewhat clearer after writing that out.. I have certainly not been directly looking at the confusion itself when I'm ego, but at how the confusion is so painful! I would be interested to hear anything you felt like sharing about any of this, but I talked my way to seeing my own game there I think!

  • @untangle-your-mind
    @untangle-your-mind6 күн бұрын

    The quote doesn't ring a bell, but yes, the way of Self-inquiry is to always go to the core. What is confusion about? Who is it that is confused? Confusion only ever stems from thought. So it is just a matter of getting to the right question. What is the confusion about?

  • @hannahlily11
    @hannahlily115 күн бұрын

    OK, getting to the right question.. yes, that feels appropriate and like the stuck loop might shift. The confusion is about how to respond when feeling acute discomfort, when turning toward the Stillness has no sense of Reality. This mind skitters around between ideas of doing/not-doing, (that dang oxymoron!) trying to find a resting place where it can bear the unbearable that is being borne. (Hmm.. i guess its trying to find an alternative, trying to NOT bear..) The confusion when no approach offers any sense of acceptance or feeling of openness to what is, is more acutely uncomfortable than the initial pain. Usually, doing/not doing have blended together in a way that I don't know how to describe. (That astonishing, still meeting point of the 'impossible'!!) Choice/no choice play into this 'how to respond' confusion, are very interwoven. There is no me actually making choices to do or 'not do'! I just want a simple clear cut choice to make when there is writhing discomfort, to bring ANY relief/acceptance. I would like 'what am I?' to be something I can turn to always, as it usually is now.. but not when, as I said, the feeling is 'off the charts' intense, where the body is in panic mode as well as the mind. Gosh, perhaps its simpler than all that.. perhaps this 'container' simply hasn't expanded enough in awareness to hold that level of pain/discomfort with any equanimity yet. Perhaps I need to just accept that I cant accept, and stop trying to be at peace or alleviate the confusion.. breathe through it so to speak, like physical pain. If I cant 'not-do' with the mind, I CAN focus on my breathe and relaxing the body til it passes.. well, gosh again.. I just understood another dream Nabeel. Thank you xxx (BTW.. The 'hook' is loneliness. Usually being alone feels like the safest space here, company less safe. But sometimes this shifts into such loneliness, concurrent with the company of my fellow humans feeling very threatening. The more 'god meeting god meeting god' is in my awareness, the less often I miss/fear company. But now when I feel alone, its more acute than before, because I dont just feel apart from people, but from 'God'.)

  • @untangle-your-mind
    @untangle-your-mind4 күн бұрын

    Well, firstly, if there are practical steps available to you, you should try that. There is no need to try to solve all of life's pains with some superhuman mastery of the mind. At the same time, the core insight here is surely a balm for loneliness. That hollowness in the heart only ever appears with the thought of being an individual person separate from other persons. But the insight here is that there are no separate persons! With the insight that there are no separate selves, that Awarwness is the Self, the mind has no basis for manufacturing this loneliness. So the loneliness itself should become a pointer to remind you where the mind has gone astray. The misery is reminding you, "Don't touch that old way of thinking. It's scalding hot!" Just remember what you are, and the heart will overcome the mind.

"Those who have passed the barrier are able not only to see Jôshû face to face but also to walk hand in hand with the whole descending line of patriarchs and be eyebrow to eyebrow with them. You will see with the same eye that they see with, hear with the same ear that they hear with. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful joy! This was precisely how it was on seeing the "IAM" in the forefront . Felt the states of the mind a dream. There were mild shivers in the body with fever and total disinterest in eating, no taste. Neither could sleep. It happened in early this March.Had several such glimpses since 2019.Even last night could not sleep at all.Every second it was the Self alone in each perception. Yet quite can't say iam not the body or the mind, as Sri Nisargadatta said.At 60 nothing matters anymore.😊 Can you please help Nabeel? In my first glimpses early one morning, in 2019, I could see only myself everywhere, this body wasn't there, did not know how to get down the cot, could not see my face in the mirror when brushing the teeth!!. I cannot say how long this episode lasted also. When i asked my Guru here, he said that when the fruit is ripe it leaves the branch of its own. Till then asked me to stay in silence.

  • @untangle-your-mind
    @untangle-your-mind7 күн бұрын

    Try looking at it this way: To conclude all this you don’t need any new experiences. The ones you have already had are sufficient. What have they told you about yourself? When you see your face in the mirror now, how is it different to when you couldn't see it? On the side where you are, there is still no face. The face is only seen 'over there', a reflection in the mirror. It is not that you are not the body or the mind. That is a pointer earlier on. Later on, you see that this body and mind, this world, this whole stream of consciousness from beginning to end, is a small reflection of what you are. The face in the mirror.

    I will try. Realisation brings relief from psychological pain and changes the relationship to physical pain, but physical pain is still most acutely felt. So I can't tell someone in pain that there is a cure. As long as there is consciousness, there will be pain in one form or another. We can only work on making it bearable. The subject/object duality surely ends, bringing in lot of peace and ease in living. As it is don't involve in daily activities much. Prefer solitude. Don't sleep deeply and no dreams either. Just in wait to merge completely in the Self, like Sri Ramana Maharshi. Pray for Jivan mukthi in this very life. I am sure HE will not deny it..
