There was a competition (or experiment), between very fit, professional footy or rugby players, who tried to follow ballet dancers exercises & learning their routines for a set time period. They were all knackered after a little while & couldn't even keep up. You have to have not only fitness & mega discipline to dance ballet, but also be mentally fit. Many people fail in this profession

I saw a reconstructed version of "L' oca," many years ago. It's remarkably silly, and I love the fact that one of the greatest composers who ever lived, Mozart of course, could write music for such delightful (and silly) operas.

Most interesting production. Musicianship & professionalism by all singers abound! Great skillful conducting. The more one experienced this opera's productions the more one'll likely appreciate these vocal skills & all. Stupendous to me.

OK, I know the test is in Russian (although the song by Mr Triquet is normally written in French : why did they use suddenly a Russian text for it)? and maybe that explains why the singers don't understand what they sing : the acting is most of the time completely disconnected from the text. What's the added value? Fidelity to the work interpreted can never be wrong...

Режисерська невдача. Це ж треба, навіть сцену бійки поставити не спромігся. Мізансцени вимучені, а то і просто немає. Пан Homoki, нажаль, не має таланту, він завжди розчаровує.
Пан Homoki дуже гарно розповідає. Але ж постанова виявилася досить скучною та режиссерськи безпомічною. Бачив декілька його робіт, все напрочуд невдало, вимучено й без таланту.

Ich verstehe Ihre Kritik nicht. Frau Viotti zählt zu den weltweit gesuchten Mezzosopranistinnen. Sehr vielseitig ist sie. Ich finde ihre Stimme sehr gut geeignet für Carmen, sie bringt Belcanto in die Rolle. Sehr schön.
Why is the crowd of onlookers dressed like upper middle class opera goers? The costumes fit the time period, but completely fail at representing that echelon of society.
I knew something was missing from this video! It was the opera purist in the comments, complaining about a) the bad state of staging these days, b) the bad state of singing these days, or c) both.

Great opera performance/production! @OperaVision: Just some technical comments... - There are some rather long interruptions/gaps (i.e. periods of complete silence and black screen) of approx. 10 seconds, each, in the video stream as well as in audio stream (approx. times: between 2:13:45 and 2:13:55, between 2:37:20 and 2:37:30, between 2:59:12 and 2:59:21, between 3:48:22 and 3:48:31, and maybe also at other places). - Contrary to the "More info" text, there are no subtitles in French and German available. The subtitles of the opera in English are not shown in the first part of Act 1, they are only shown after 1:38:42. - Question: Can these issues still be corrected? Thank you!
