Hard to believe 1973 was 50 years ago. This was prime time for me ! Fred McKenna was a Canadian gem as was Harry Hibbs. God rest their souls.

I was just in Bell Island and went to the Music Hall of Memories. I felt so bad when the owner asked if I have heard of Harry Hibbs and said no. He is 10000% a Canadian icon and deserves so much more respect and notoriety! He definitely belongs on the Canadian Walk of Fame!

I remember Twiggle Toes. I also played it and still do. I used to play it and the second part seemed to grate on one mans ears he would ask me to stop playing the accordion but his wife played the same thing.

As A Kid my mom bought me a few of Harry Hibbs Albums LPs in the day and I learned how to sound just like he did on my button Accordion Diatonic hohner he was an amazing musician too bad we lost him so early in his life.

My dad was the president of the NFLD Club back in the mid 70's. I was around 5 or 6 and would be with him at the club all the time. I remember Harry coming to the club to do his show and he would let me play with his accordian when they would be rehearsing. Great memories.

First time i seen this youtube posting. Lots of memories ,not of the Caribou club but of Harry's music. A NEWFOUNDLAND icon along with John White, Dick Nolan, A Frank Willis,Joan Morrisey and lots of talent in today's ERA - Peter Jacobs, etc.. Fred Mckenna too was superb. Had to be a great spot for Newfoundlanders and others back then. Greetings from the east coast of Nfld. to all. Keep Newfoundland music alive-I dont think there is another province in Canada with so much traditional music talent.

Freddy McKenna and some of his friends were with my family one time, and they went to Dark Harbour to see the sunset. Someone in the group asked what direction that was. Freddy said, where he grew up, the sun set in the west. Quite a put down to be told what direction you are looking in by a blind man.
