You didn’t have to be a “Newf” to enjoy his music. It was a joyful part of my childhood, and my parents and I tuned in each week. Good times.

I was just in Bell Island and went to the Music Hall of Memories. I felt so bad when the owner asked if I have heard of Harry Hibbs and said no. He is 10000% a Canadian icon and deserves so much more respect and notoriety! He definitely belongs on the Canadian Walk of Fame!

I remember Twiggle Toes. I also played it and still do. I used to play it and the second part seemed to grate on one mans ears he would ask me to stop playing the accordion but his wife played the same thing.

My grandpa from Trinity Bay (Champney's East, Randell family) loved this guy, Harry Hibbs. My Uncle Doug was constabulary on Bell Island and my Uncle Cliff was the priest in the Anglican Church on Bell Island. Saludos a todos los Newfies desde Heredia, Costa Rica.

I had never heard abut Harry Hibbs until I looked for a song called "between two trees" by an Australian singer called Lilly Connors. I didn't find her version, but I found Harry Hibbs. He intrigued me so much that I started my search. I am an Australian & I'd never heard of him before. I now class him as one of my favourite singers! I especially love his little "winks".

RIP, It's been a long time. Pretty close to 30 + years since you visited Champney's East. you spent time with myself, Kim, Gary and a few of the boys one summer at Champney's East. My hometown. Craig

Hello Craig, nice to hear from you. Yes, I remember that summer drinking Labatt's on the beach. Those were simpler times. I have not been to Newfoundland since the summer of 1990. I don't know when I will be back, if ever. 😉
