you are a hero
You really don't plan things well huh? Be it lenses or light in the day! I have 9 Fuji lenses and the 56mm f1.2 is the most frequently used :)
I guess that this doesnt work on manual lenses? 😉
You should consider the Viltrox 56mm F1.7. That lens is sharp corner to corner and it's only 140 U$. Like you, I don't use that focal length much, so I grabed one since it's so cheap.
Great tip! Thanks I have the Viltrox 56 F/1.4. I'm curious how it compares to the F/1.7?
MY MAN!!!! Love seeing you here again. I sold my f/1.2 WR even though it's one of the best lenses I've ever used. Wildly sharp. Incredible contrast and rich colors even at f/1.2. BUT - it's slow to focus. SO SO SO slow! That's why I sold it and don't regret it. I get it man. I want the 135mm plena for Nikon. I know I'd get some use out of it, but I don't NEED it. Crap! I've been holding off for months! Good video man - love the "learn by doing." I think you stopped me from getting the Plena for at least a few more weeks.
Hey Jerred! Thanks for stopping by. It’s been annoyingly slow in the past but I’m wondering if part of that was the AF issues with the X-H2 at the time!
$1000 for crop sensor lens? Why wouldn't you just go full frame 85 1.8. is it for portability? I'd think you'd have way more functional use with FF 85 1.8.
Hey @shotsbyalex260, thanks for your insightful question! You've touched on a key point in the crop vs. full frame debate. One of the main reasons I fell in love with the Fuji system is precisely because of the value proposition - getting a premium lens like the 56mm for under $1000 is fantastic, especially when I compare it to my experience with Canon RF lenses that often exceeded $2000 for similar quality. The price-to-performance ratio of crop sensor systems like Fuji can be really compelling. That said, you're absolutely right that a FF 85 1.8 offers incredible versatility. It's all about balancing factors like budget, portability, and specific shooting needs. Have you had experience shooting with both systems? I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on how they compare in real-world use!
@@WesKriesel I have never shot with Fuji. For years I only shot with Canon dslrs and when the Canon R system came out I switched due to the ability to use all the old lenses on the new camera. But I hated that the lenses were so expensive and there weren't many options. So I tried the Sony A7iv and haven't looked back since. The lens selection is unbelievable and since I never buy things new, the sheer volume of lens that are 1-3 years old for a fraction of the original price, is really good. But regardless of the system, I don't think I could ever go back to a crop sensor. I'm too used to the full frame. 56mm f1.2 is actually 56mm F1.2. I also love to shoot astro photography and achieving that with crop sensor is nearly impossible without a star tracker.
Keep.
Noted! I’ll know if I go that way after the three test portrait sessions that I’m committed to doing in the next couple weeks. Subscribe if you are interested in these tests!
Leave a comment and let me know: should I keep this lens? The Fuji 56mm F/1.2 - is it worth keeping?
Thanks for the short tutorial. I was baffled and did not know how to do it ! Thanks for making the video
Glad I could help!
Does this require the EOS webcam utility in order to live stream? Because my older canon DSLRs do require it and it's a pain to use with OBS. I was hoping that it will just stream through HDMI.
No, it didn't require the webcam utility. The Elgato (my explanation) transcodes the video signal from the EOS R so that it's readable as a "camera" for the laptop. This way you don't need the webcam utility.
Thank you , you are a beautiful soul to share your wisdom ❤
You are so welcome
This was so helpful thank you !
I'm so glad!
45mp to much for sport it doesn’t matter. 24mp like the R3 is good for me and save place on the pc
Ok, cool! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Amazing video - thank you. :)
Glad you liked it!
Hi, little of topic here Wes, do u use a Battery Grip on your Canon RP, and if so, what Brand & Model do you use. Any info is most appreciated. Thanks
I only had the RP on loan, so don't have a grip for it. The manufacturers that make battery grips for the Canon EOS RP include: - Custom Battery Grips - Vello - BM Premium - MCOplus - FocusFoto - Neewer
Will Fujifilm do Holy Grail interval shooting fully automatic in Program (P) mode? I know the Nikon z6 will adjust aperture, shutter speed then ISO once the minimum shutter speed is reached while having interval priority turned on as well as smoothing. Thanks for your help.
Youre well versed in cameras, obviously know your stuff……for me, some of its hard to follow bc of not being as equally versed ….but just bc of how fast you go. Too fast to compute bc I am learning. all your thumbnails are really good, (I click bc of it) subject material great/titles are what I need. But its just super speed.
Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment!
too much babble
Thank you so much for this. Apparently this is such 'basic information' that literally no one explains how to do it, it took me a whole day to find this video
That was so concise and helpful! You've taken the fear factor of timelapses away for me. I'm definitely going to give it a try now.
Hi there, I just bought that lense today and was panicking that there’s no MF! 😅 thanks for tutorial. However, what’s the point in that button when using AF? What’s it for?
I currently have this problem with a new synthesizer. The card’s now rattling around inside.
is this for all canon cameras? i need to take 1:1 pics for ebay listings.. what camera would u recommend? would spend under 500$
Thank You for information. I guess I should reduce the quality of photo to avoid the big weights. Jpeg 4k will be enough
There’s a setting where you can swipe left on the screen so you can access the film recipes too
Thanks!
No problem! Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Great video
My issue is exporting through the app compresses the images and they have much less quality. Does importing through the SD card reader fix this?
Great vid thanks! Subbed.
I switched from Fuji to Canon. Events, weddings and all paid gigs -> I use R6mkII and RF 24-105/2.8L. That’s it. One body, one lens, super quality results.
I like hoe they say "bear commercial for this lens" yeah too bad it's fake advertisement because you're basically zoomed in 10X so it's 16000 mm artificially with the extender on it
I have one and it’s a great lenses for the money.
Hi, what mode should dial button switch into? Single @ CL @ CH @ video?
I love it
KEANU REEVES DOES PHOTOGRAPHY????
Ha! I never realized that @nuclearfrank does look like Keanu here!
Hi everyone, how do I set it on the Canon R50? Please shed some light anyone. Thank you
I’m on fuji since the beginning of my photography journey, first with the X100T. Now I’m going pro (I a documentary style alla Kevin Mullins, that’s the stuff I love doing) and I thought about switching to another brand or not. I made the decision to stick with Fuji for the reasons you mention, and for the love of Fuji, that sort of magic touch and the way you want to take the camera and shoot. Two XT-5’s for me as I love their look, the dials, the form factor, and its autofocus is good enough for me 👍😃 my favorite pair is 18mm 1.4 on one and 33mm 1.4 on the other, a documentary photographer l’a dream and so light set up easily hold with a peak design leash and a peak design capture clip at bell 😊
I think you should just do an all out composition. One that was people another one for wildlife or landscapes because I think you skipped over a lot trying to keep it down to 30 minutes or less
Car light trails
Thank you for tuning in! If I picked a composition technique to focus on for an upcoming livestream would you send me a photo to feature on the stream??

Yes! Definitely!

Thanks for watching! I appreciate you! What's your favorite composition technique!
What's your favorite or go-to composition technique when you go out shooting? Composition discussion starts about 2 minutes in. Leave a comment and let me know!
Can anyone tell me how to do this for the R10 canon?
The lens should operate the same?
Thank you so fucking much LOL!!!
You’re welcome!
I have no brand loyalty. I purchase whatever does what I am looking for. I just sold my X-H2S to get the R6MII, purely because the X-H2S autofocus was so disappointing. 40 fps and most shots slightly out of focus on targets coming or going fast, dogs, etc. No update or setting or lens allowed me to capture what I wanted consistently. With the Canon I get 99 out of 99.1 shots in perfect focus. I used EVERY possible AF setting and lens combination on the Fuji. The cheapest lenses on the Canon do what the most expensive Fuji lenses could not. The Canon weighs no more than the X-H2S and the cheap primes weigh very little. The X-H2S nails static targets fairly well, especially a small bird in a tree. Colors are good on the Fooj and I enjoyed it and the lenses. But to say the X-H2S AF is on par with the Canon is lunacy, it isn't even close. The low light quality on the Canon is also substantially better. I WOULD have preferred to keep the Fuji if the promised AF did what they had claimed.
Well said. I’ve been avoiding doing the firmware updates because people report the xh2s actually performs worse after the updates. I still have an RF35mm lens; maybe I should switch back?
Hey Wes, just saw the documentary. You definitely touched my nerve! Really good emocional build up in the ctc scene. Thanks for the upload! Hope to see more.
Thank you for the kind words!
No comments yet? Well, I'm here!
Thank you, thank you!
This was amazing. Very touching , the edit, the focus , and the sounds. All of it made me feel immersed into the details of the content being shown.
🙏 Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!
