Yaer I left Malbank school that year and still remember the town like that, still see Flash now and again. But up in Crewe and in the pub, as his health is not as good as it use to be. So does not push his cart every day now. This is when we still had stapley water garden and no new road across the river and we still had all the playing fields at the school. That is now a housing estate and the football ground.

Is it really that bad now? We are thinking of moving to Nantwich from a town in the West Midlands where I can say with assurance that society went horribly wrong many many years ago. Is Nantwich ‘that bad? Or is not just not quite what it was? as is the case for most semi rural towns in 2024 compared to 1985. Not being sarcastic, it’s a genuine question before we move.
@nintendy6 ай бұрын
@@timmanc I haven’t lived there for many years, but from what I’m told, it;s pretty much the same (if not worse) as when I left it; awful! What made you choose Nantwich? Had you visited? Or heard nice things about it? It’s a big decision to make to move anywhere of course, and so I would just take my time before you make any life-changing choices no matter where you were going. I think Nantwich got too big and overpopulated. Of course many years ago, it was small, and most, if not the majority of people who lived there were actually born there, and so most knew each other - if only by sight, but by the time I left, I could walk the whole town and meet nobody I knew, spoke to, or recognised... That’s quite a change! There was also a murder in 1982 - the first recorded I believe in the town’s history at the time, who also happened to be a relative of mine. But this wasn’t what I was thinking about when not thinking it a good place anymore; I was thinking more on the social side from a very personal point of you - I just don’t like it anymore. I’ve never been back - not even to visit since I left, and have no yearnings for it. I’m quite happy just to recall the fond memories I have of growing up there, and what it used to be like. 🙂 But to be honest, the same could be said of many places when you think about it.

@@KommandantHLL Although, you may have been sarcastic...your silly unfunny point is somewhat true. That is why I agreed. No Welsh Row has not been destroyed, but it is now surrounded by new housing estates and a lot more traffic each day. Even Cheshire East council is not stupid enough to destroy 300 year old buildings, but it did back in the 1960s and built rubbish, as you can now see in Swine Market. Nantwich has become a dormitory commuter town for people of Stoke, Manchester and whoever else decided to move there. This creates issues with traffic on small, narrow roads, pollution as well as over stretched healthcare and school services. That is issue regarding new housing estates, coupled with the ugliness of the homes themselves.
