    Bad video! There are all kinds of slow-release fertilizer. You never say what you got or what the ratio is in it.

    Hi! We're sorry we didn't add the name of the fertilizer we used. We try to stay unbiased when it comes to which fertilizer will be the best, so that's why we didn't mention the precise name. There are all kinds of slow release fertilizer like you said, but there are just as many unique places where people plant their trees and what works for folks in one location may not work in another location. We want people from all over to be able to watch our videos and learn a little something. So next time we will be more specific to try and take into account the different products and plant circumstances that are out there! Thank you for your feedback!

    I bought a Magnolia fairy blush tree, for 2 months ago. Its about 1 meter high and had 2 flowers and just a few branches and leafs when I got it.... But its allready getting much more new growth and I believe it will be quite nice next spring. But is it normal for new leafs to be a bit yellow or light green....? ❤

  • @the.magnoliacompany
    @the.magnoliacompanyАй бұрын

    Hello ! That is so exciting to hear that your fairy magnolia is doing so well! The leaves of the fairy magnolia are generally much lighter in color compared to your typical magnolia variety. If they are getting more yellow and start to fall, try taking a good look at the tree. It could be the result of mites (which you can treat with a neem oil spray that can be found at pretty much any lows or garden store). Yellowing leaves could also be a sign that your tree needs some more nutrients. A slow release, tree and shrub fertilizer will help put nutrients back into your plant. You can look for numbers like 16-8-16 or 10-10-10 as a safe bet, but most any brand will work.

    Great question! The trees blooms have a beautiful, light, citrus-y scent. The flower aroma is strong enough to attract some awesome pollinators but not too strong that it will give you a head ache!

    We actually special mix our fertilizer with a few different materials. But when buying from your local garden center, we recommend a few options, Shake 'N Feed Trees and Shrubs 18-6-12; Scotts Flowering Tree Continuous Release Food 11-7-7; and Jacks Classic 20-20-20 all purpose fertilizer.

    Hi! how often do you prune the tree? ive seen some of them grow wide and I'd like mine to be tall like yours. Thank you for the video, very informative!

  • @the.magnoliacompany
    @the.magnoliacompanyАй бұрын

    I like to prune this particular magnolia tree once a year, after it has made all of its blooms for the season. It can be difficult for a magnolia tree to recover from pruning in the winter or while dormant, so we recommend pruning in later spring, or early summer. Great question!

    Thank you for the video. For weeks I've been trying to decide what Magnolia to get. Each time I think I've figured it out I learn about a new variety, and you just made it worse (in a good way). One thing I decided after watching this is I need to get at least three different ones so I can experience the differences for myself. I'm good with that. =)

    Great video! I was concerned because my new Teddy Bear magnolias at the front dropped A LOT of leaves in early spring, but I've also noticed new growth thankfully as I as worried I'd have to pull them out. Yet my caviar ones are doing perfectly fine. Just be a southern magnolia thing. I'm in Melbourne Australia, so we do get hot summers. Usually pretty dry heat. Very helpful video👍

    Hello in Australia! We're happy to hear your trees are continuing to put out new growth! Remember, magnolias love water and well draining soil so an extra drink in the summer time might help take your magnolias to the next level! If you ever have any questions, we love to answer all things magnolia and gardening!
