    2:00 the formula sound mixers have a little gain attenuation dial at the back that you need a flat head screwdriver to adjust. Turning them should help make the mixer a bit more compatible with high output cartridges and loud pressings

    The Taruya is higher output which is why a little louder. Suggested tracking force is 3.5g which is higher than Ortofon's 3.0g. Something to think about when spinning valuable records. They are both spherical so they sit in groove the same, which affects sound quality and groove wear.

    Appreciate the video thanks a lot. VNL sounds boring, accurate as it advertised which is true but no life in it's sound reproduction and applicable to all models. Shure were accurate and never boring. Taruya is exciting only lacks in high freq detail a bit. Which Cambridge audio preamp you are using? Did you change capacitance on the cambridge audio preamp for Taruya? If so please tell us the mode. Also I request a new video that connect turntables directly to Formula Sound and output directly to the soundcard. Are you using Traktor mixer as a soundcard? If so and if you have a better soundcard please use that. Cheers!

    @@remiv6375 haha, yes, and a separate HPF on every channel! so it seems they are consciously trying to make this a better club-style mixer. i think the v1 EQ was not really parameterized in such a way for the pioneer/A&H style 'cut and drop the bass' type EQ mixing. but actually, from what i've heard, the summing of these MS mixers is so good that you don't really need to ride the EQs as much as on pio/a&h ... there's enough room in the sound stage to blend between tracks even with no EQ cuts ... perhaps some user-adjustment is necessary after all? i'm currently looking to make a change from my old faithful xone:92, and i think i'll get the new MS instead of the more obvious xone:96 route. it should refresh my approach to DJ'ing. for myself, i never use 80% of the features on the 'club standard' mixers when i'm at home.

  • @remiv6375
    @remiv6375 Жыл бұрын

    @@aaroninky I disagree with you on that one. If you have the chance try the EQ on a formula sound mixer. With these mixers you can blend more easily, precisely and mix tracks that are more impossible to mix then any MS out there. One trick I often use if to filter out one frequency group, give that a boost and then use LPF or HPF. But in all honesty is comparing apples to oranges, these mixers are top of the line analogue beast of mixers.

  • @remiv6375
    @remiv6375 Жыл бұрын

    Taruya compresses the signal way way more then the vnl, therefore it seems way louder then any other cartridge. I have equalised all signals so they are equally loud. Warmer sound is just cutting of the high frequencies, to me the Taruya sounded like a old radio. But if you like the Taruya better that’s all that matters.

    I agree that there aren't many "high quality sound" fader mixers out there. I have my 20 year old Rane TTM56 working perfectly still, but sometimes think about upgrading to the ff2.2L or Nea Music Telemaco (fader version). I have some high quality Adam monitors and a very good small P.A., so I wonder how much sound improvement there would be. @@kentlord2490 yes. So faders are still average at best, I’ve upgraded them to a Master K fader which at this moment are not available anywhere in the world, I had to go true many connection to obtain 2 of them. But the results are fantastic. Plops are still there but many boutique mixers have this. Isonoe, Mastersounds etc. Don’t really have a noise problem, it’s still noticeable when you push everything open to the very max with no input. But in real life you won’t notice it. X fader suck’s balls! One circuit board started making noise after 2 months but they’ve send a replacement under warranty. After all this the layout is the best I’ve ever used, they way they have set the gain, EQ and filter is fantastic. You can work almost blind and hit every pot when you need it. You can mix so precise like a scalpel! It’s shines the most with long blends, you can shape the mix beautiful. No other mixer can do this. Also headphone section is brilliant. It’s loud, clean and the split function you can pitch the record ultra precise quickly. It’s by far the best mixer for me right now, money no object this is my mixer end of story.

    @@remiv6375 yeah I agree, was surprised at how difficult it was to find any info about these things online. Surprised they're not more popular tbh but I guess it's all about rotary these days for mixers of this kind of level. Also agree faders aren't the best. Line faders are okay but could be better considering the price of these things. Preferred the feel of the faders on my old 2 channel pioneer djm T1 tbh. Dunno what they were thinking with the crossfader though. Mine feels a bit scratchy like it's rubbing on something inside and the cutting distance is absolutely huge on the sharpest setting. I don't scratch however so it doesn't bother me a huge amount. Also the headphone gain is ridiculously loud and sensitive. Anything above 9 o'clock with hd25s is enough to blow out my eardrums. Apart from those issues the thing is an absolute joy to use. The sound quality is the best I've heard from a mixer and the individual high and low pass filters on each channel combined with the 4 band eqs means you can mix with absolute surgical precision and really isolate certain frequency bands. Gain controls are a touch sensitive but has been fairly easy to get used to them. Worth it for the amount of gain you get on each channel and the huge amounts of headroom - think it's pretty much impossible to clip this mixer. Also it gets damn warm which hasn't been great for mixing in the recent weather we've been having which has made mixing a bit uncomfortable. Reckon it will be nice in the winter though Despite the issues with the faders and overpowered headphone amp, I can't really fault it. By far my favourite piece of equipment I own and can't really see myself getting anything new to replace it in the future. Really is an endgame mixer for me. Apologies for the massive wall of text lol. Just thought I'd share my thoughts as discussions on these mixers online is pretty hard to come by
