Another nice vid. Would love to see a video about the different type of fuels for lamps. Aladdin oil, Kleen Heat, paraffin, mineral spirits. I know there's lot of debate on the use of mineral spirits.
You're gonna need a bigger screwdriver! Just kidding, thanks for showing whats under the hood on these
Super video ! Thank you!
You very welcome!
very good info. thanks
You’re very welcome! Don’t forget to like and subscribe!
I've used Aladdin lamps for years and I've always thought that their Model B was the very best design made. The more modern models were just cheaper in my opinion.
Yea unfortunately they seem to have slumped in quality.
Thanks for the new video! Good info on the Aladdins, and frankly, the truth. Haha...I've had one runaway flame-out with an Aladdin, and you don't ever want to repeat THAT situation. I'm with you. Aladdins are pretty persnickety and potentially volatile unless you are going to be right there babysitting them all evening. Regular old center drafts and double-wicks are so much simpler and less demanding. Granted, you can't really beat Aladdins for a nice light. I have my Grandma's Model B lamp, and it is beautiful, sits in the middle of my dining room table, but I have since replaced the Model B burner with a Model 23, STILL wasn't happy (flame spikes) and now have it running one of the new Maxbright burners - which FINALLY burns like it's supposed to. But - have the power go out, and need expedient light? Unless I want to read or we want to play cards/games or eat at the table - around the house for room lights? I will first light up my Rayos or the double-wicks or the Millers.
I wish it wasn’t that way but unfortunately they are just not up to snuff for regular use.
Great vid. Miss seeing these
We should be getting a few out here and there again. We have a couple big ones cooking but I think e will try and get a shorter video out every couple of weeks.
i checked back later and there is nothing. i do believe an error occurred
It should be working now.
Beautiful, my dream is to have a matching pair of Kosmos lamps, are you Miles Staire?
I got lucky with these. I am not personally Miles Stair but this is the official channel of Miles Stair’s Wick Shop.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
More, please!
We should have more as time allows. We had planned on doing one every week or two but time has not allowed.
Please continue this helpful series! There is a dearth of [quality] online content on the subject of antique oil lamps. This series is by far the best I've seen. Perhaps you could also post of video on other useful sources of information for aspiring lamp makers.
More to come!
What is the difference between the Juno #1 and the Juno #2 burners ?
Size, the #1 is about half the size of the #2. I’ll have to do a video on it.
@@TheWickShop Thank You for the information. It is appreciated.
You’re very welcome!
@@TheWickShop Yes, please do a video on the #2 lamp. We were given one years ago and just stored it, now we hope to get it going (needs a wick and globe). Beautiful lamps!
Good information, and thank you.
Our pleasure!
I have a number 8 alladin looking at you vidio it has the hole in the midle all the way threw is there any way you could do a vidio on. That modle i just came by it an i would like to no how it put to gether mine i think is missing the wik riser an flame spredder an what type of wik would it take thanks so mutch
I will have to look but I think the wick riser on those is included with the wick like most Aladdin lamps.
I hate it when i find a nice lamp or heater that someone destroyed by gutting it, sticking a light bulb in and painting flowers on it....
The worst is when someone guys and paints a Perfection heater and outs a bulb in it…
@@TheWickShop I've been after a perfection heater for years, all i come across is gutted ones with a bulb.... i did find one with the glass view, the whole bottom of the tube was glass... but it was missing the flame spreader, and good luck finding one of those.
They come up on eBay occasionally but I think we may have one or two floating around. Send us an email and we will see what we can do.
Thank you for making this video. ❤
Your very welcome!
Your welcome! Thank you for your support!

Thank you!!
Thanks Mate! Very informative. I will try the boil trick you mentioned on my lamp that is really stubborn to come apart.
Let us know how it goes!
@@TheWickShop I tried the boiling trick on two Veritas superspeeds that were stuck fast. I boiled both for about 30 minutes at a roiling boil in an old pot. I had my doubts that it would work but they came apart really easy whilst still hot wearing leather gloves. Thanks again!
You very welcome! I'm glad we could help!
Amazing vid. Great job Miles !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Don’t see lamps like that anymore….
Miles and I have a few running around so check back often for more Lamp Loght episodes!
Never knew I I needed this. Thanks !!! 😊
You're so welcome!
Love those European lamps. You don’t see too many of those.
Not much in the states. We have a fewwe have imported.
Thanks for the videos! The knowledge base here is head and shoulders above anything else on the web. SO helpful to see something from your collection that I have been scratching my head over for weeks - looking for any kind of information! :)
Hi Sandy, What would you like to see? Is there something specific you need some pointers on? I would be glad to do a video on it even if it's a short.
Great video. Love the chimney presentation
Thank you very much!
You can. In fact I have just let the lamp burn dry and when it’s cool take the chimney and flame spreader out and rub my finger around it in a circle. That way you can still get a wick flat and level even after the lamp has had fuel in it.
Nice technique, will it work for saturated round wick if I try to dry it out of kerosene?
I wish we got these in my country! Waiting for #3 video, I bet will be hot 😂 thank you!
They do come up on Ebay over seas sometimes. The #3s are huge, I am shooting some of the footage for next weeks video now and my living room is toasty. lol
Hi Miles! Long time customer here. Looking forward to seeing your lamps and hearing your comments and information. You are a treasured resource for lamp geeks. :)
Good morning, The Help will be uploading new episodes of lamps from both of our collections so stay tuned and thank you for your loyalty. Blessings, Miles
The "Kosmos" you show is a Gaudard version of a Matador, minus its flame spreader, they aren't very good burners sadly. Actual Kosmos burners don't have the deflector cone and have a taller wick tube.
You are correct. In fact, it was so bad as a Matador that we took the flame spreader out and run it like a Kosmos.
@@TheWickShop yes, I remember having one once, it was a nightmare to get a good flame, not a patch on real Matador burners. Gaudard don't seem to care about things like correct chimneys, they sell some Kosmos lamps with Vienna bulge type chimneys on their website (last time I looked).
Honestly though, if you run them as a kosmos with one of our sans-rival pattern, chimneys outside of the wick being difficult to raise and lower, they do pretty good.
Thanks for featuring a Miller lamp. One of the most iconic brands of kerosene lamps. As you covered, this #1 burns very consistent. Great vid!
You very welcome. I have a few more running around for future episodes!
Nice oil lamp!
Thank you!
Very beautiful and unique!
Thank you! 😊
New subscriber, thanks for the detailed video, waiting for new updates 😊
Good to have you! Thanks for stopping by!
Interesting chimneys. Cant wait for the Miller spotlight. Love all EM lamps especially the Tiny lines.
These are San-Rival pattern that Miles did the math on to shrink them down to 6’’’. My daughter has a Miller #1, maybe we will do that one next week.
I always recommend the Wick Shop on antique lamp forums and to fellow collectors. Hands down the best. Excited about this channel.
Thank you! We are excited as well!
Stoked for your channel ! You have been very helpful and knowledgeable online and through email ! Love to see more about these lamps !!
Thank you very much! We have been kicking the idea around for a while and we have a large library of lamps and heaters to detail and explore!
