    Howdy, New sub compact tractor owner here. Does it matter what fluid is in the splitter vs what comes factory in the tractor. Can you mix any hydraulic fluids and is that even a thing? Sorry for the ignorance but I heard it mentioned in the comments on another video and now I’m confused.

  • @tims2188
    @tims21883 ай бұрын

    The splitter shown/used did NOT have it's own reservoir but instead ran off the tractor fluids. Simply connect the lines and used. But be aware that it will run slower due to the compact tractors HP rating. Doable if not in a hurry.

    Is a more commercial "Puma" brand. To use is required a spare tank. I used a 60 gallon Cobalt tank for the air supply but also made my own copper line cooling system to wick off water better. CFM = 21 @ 175 psi. 18 CFM @ 90 psi! Have had it 6 years now and like the profile/style vs an upright tank. Unsure but believe since I bought it the model number has changed. In 2018 I paid $1800 delivered but see $4900 for a current retail price. Don't quote me! Local guy I bought it from states the style now comes in a 7.5, 10 and 15 hp as well. I chose 5 hp for my needs!

    The issue I see is that the rear of the box blade is not held firmly in place. If the rear of the box blade hits a rock, it will pivot up until the length of tubing contacts the forward face of the hook or the 3/4" pin hits the rear face of the hook (whichever is less). If you weld a triangular piece to fill the opening forward of the tube to the face of the hook, that might alleviate the slop. Regards.

    Thanks for the u tube. I watched it to clarify a bunch of things on set up when I re-worked mine .I had an old bench top model form 2002 never did work well. been in the corner for years just taking up floor space. I had to do some sheet-metal work to turn the trough into a funnel for the sand. made the mixing valve like everybody does. got a new gun and pedal. I fully expect it to work now. but you covered everything I had questions on and provided good pictures of the parts. thanks again.

    Hello Tim. Do you feel tough because you told me off and ran away? You recently got all upset that I pointed out your horrible attitude toward buyers on FB concerning your van. And you further demonstrate your horrible attitude by going out of your way to tell me how my valid points ruined your fun, then hiding. Sorry buyers are so bad, but you sure want to be worse. People are people and you have to put up with some of what you would call dumb questions. I guess you were upset that I used the word "hell." I don't remember if I used worse because you couldn't take criticism and removed the post. Or maybe you took it down because I (and others) pointed out the flaws in your thinking process. I don't care. BTW, how are people supposed to find that van if you disable comments? Most won't look for your other posts like I did. Anyway, have a good life.

  • @tims2188

    No! I did not modify anything other than a fitting on one of the hoses to pair with the 1025. Yes I knew it would be slow...but you know...it's non-commercial use and a more than adequate for the red oak and other I split with it working alone!.

    Thanks for the demo. I also have a 1025R with the backhoe and I know of a similar deal on a 3 pt splitter I could pursue. That slow cycle time is what I wanted to see. Slow but simple with low cost versus getting a better functioning machine that costs 3-4 times as much and needs occasional maintenance. It seems very slow. Does it have a log splitter valve with a detent on the return stroke?

  • @tims2188
    @tims21883 жыл бұрын

    The splitter requires holding in the forward/use stroke but then returns on it's own. I agree that for what I paid...something like $450 used, I questioned what it would do but aside from slow...more than powerful to split without investing more money on other devices for power. The 1025 after all doesn't put out what...more than 17 gpm or something like that under a 25 hp motor. Adequate for home use.

    Sit on machine start tractor engage parking brake. You should be able to use PTO without it shutting off. The manual tells you the procedure which is easy. I believe setting the parking brake is what allows you to run it without it shutting off. I have a 2016 1025r and a wallenstien chipper I've used for years.
