    In your rendering settings you have switched on 'interlace' somewhere. That's causing the stripes to appear all over the screen. This is an old compression technique used in the early 00's and is no longer relevant. I would highly recommend you reupload this using a webm format.

    It’s interesting how apathetic rome was to Carthage. Many years later after Hannibal’s defeat. The politicians in rome decided to invade Carthage even though it was wrecked economically from Hannibal’s blunder and was struggling. Rome invaded and killed / enslaved everyone there and destroyed the capital and thus ended Carthage.

    Certain factors come into play: 1. Loss of more experienced Carthaginian troops 2. Loss of allies 3. Inability of Hannibal to effectively use his military victories for political gains! 4. Internal political instability 5. Gradual decline of Carthaginian economy and military spending 6. Loss of good and trusted commanders in Hannibal’s Army 7. Romans have learnt from their mistakes and became more experienced than ever! With a thirst for revenge the Romans under Scipio gave all in! Ps. I call the Battle of Zama, the Waterloo of that era! Was Wellington much better than Napoleon- debatable, likewise Scipio had the favour of the Gods and it could have very easily been the other way round!

    I thought scipio spaced out his ranks so the elephants would walked right through and get attacked on both sides

  • @lionsbergcinematic3215
    @lionsbergcinematic32153 ай бұрын

    Scipio knew how the animal instinct worked! The elephants would never charge on the Roman Walls if gaps are present and the velites luring them by running infront of the beasts can be compared to running in front of an angry dog charging at you, both the elephant and the dog will focus on the running object than anything stationary! We can however expect that some of the Romans in the lines may have shot a few of their javelins but it’s a question of army discipline! If Scipio had the lines ordered not to engage with the elephants they probably would not have engaged with them, considering the time they spent under Scipio’s lead! And multiple sources suggests that the Velites took the blunt of the Elephant charge and finally tacked the beading however incurring huge losses themselves ! Considering the social segregation of the time, Scipio would be more protective of the elite Romans! If the elephants can be lured away from the main lines then why waste the more elite Roman infantry, the Principes and Triarii ranks fighting the elephants?

    If the Romans didn't win I don't think Carthage would have fallen in the Third Punic War and history as we know it would have been much different. Both sides were fighting for their survival and the future of the world and history itself.

    I don't think Carthage would had prevailed even if it ended Winning at Zama. In general in the 2nd Punic war if Hannibal was not there the Romans used to prevail. Simply Hannibal genius could not be everywhere. And Romans would probably simply avoid Hannibal and hit any other Carthaginian army led by any lesser officer.

    The Germanic tribes have phalanx formation?

  • @lionsbergcinematic3215
    @lionsbergcinematic32159 ай бұрын

    Actually many historians such as Steuer agrees to this concept as opposed by Tacitus. In antiquity, Germanic warriors fought mostly on foot. Germanic infantry fought in tight formations in close combat, in a style that Steuer compares to the Greek phalanx. Tacitus mentions a single formation as used by the Germani, the wedge (Latin: cuneus). Men probably practiced the use of weapons beginning in their youth. When fighting the Roman legions, Germanic warriors seem to have preferred to attack from ambush, which would require organization and training.

    That is a situation what Napoleon know what will happened if Wellington and Blucher forces would united on Waterloo field. That means 200 000 Coalition soldiers against 130 000 Napoleon forces. It means sure Napoleon defeat. So, that is a reason why Napoleon beat Prussian forces near Ligny, at 17th of June, 1815. He tried separated Prussians from Wellington forces, beat decisively Prussians and than deal with Wellington forces near village of Waterloo. Unfortunately, Ney made two mistakes near Quatre Brass: he did not taken cross road before Wellington forces and he did not support on time Napoleon forces near village of Ligny. So, battle was not decisive and Blucher was not defeated. Napoleon than was going against Wellington forces on next day, but Blucher forces would come on the battlefield just on time and Napoleon was in trouble. Why were Prussians come on time? Because, Grouchy was doing another fatal mistake and Prussians bypassed French forces and attacked Napoleon right wing when he was winning Wellington forces. He was understood what will be, so he tried change a situation with attacking British forces with Imperial Guard. But, it was too late for victory. PS: My suggestion for author of this story is why he do not make a alternative option when Grouchy and his forces come on the battlefield on time and then they protected Napoleon right flank from the Prussians. Because, Napoleon wanted that when he saw how Prussians come before Grouchy forces. I hope we would see even that kind of version. Because, if Ney did not made own mistakes and Napoleon victory against Prussians at Ligny was decisive, it will be no battle of Waterloo. Wellington will leave Waterloo field before Napoleon come. He knew that, because without Prussian forces he can not win Emperor and his forces. PS: That is my opinion of that battle and how possibly Napoleon could win that battle, on 18th of June, 1815.

  • @DaliborPerkovic-sw8mh
    @DaliborPerkovic-sw8mh9 ай бұрын

    @@lionsbergcinematic3215 I can deal with you one more idea for alternative history and battle of Waterloo. In that battle, Napoleon got two weak flank leaders - Ney and Grouchy. If you ever do that idea how Napoleon could win that battle, try to put Marshal Murat on Ney position, on the left flank. Why? Because, when Murat turned back in Paris, in spring 1815, he tried contact Napoleon and ask for forgiving of betrayed of Emperor, after the battle of Leipzig, in 1815. But, Napoleon decided rejected that Murat offer and put more incompetent Ney for that task. So, Ney in Northern Campain, in Belgium, was made two big blunders for French army: first when he did not taken Quattre Brass before Wellington forces and second, when he was not support Emperor forces in battle of Ligny, in crucial time. That battle could be decisive for Napoleon and maybe Northern Campaign would be over before battle of Waterloo. PS: I want to say that maybe Ney was the weakest Marshal and responsible why Napoleon destiny become so tragic in the year of 1815.
