John Robert "Joe" Cocker, OBE (20 May 1944 - 22 December 2014) was an English rock and blues singer and musician who came to popularity in the 1960s. He was known for his gritty voice, spasmodic body movement in performance, and cover versions of popular songs, particularly those of The Beatles.

I remember one night in the 70's my brother and I were watching Doug Kirschner's Rock Concert one Saturday night and for some unknown reason my mother decided to join us. Joe Cocker came on and she said "Rhon - there's something wrong with that man" - I said - Mama the only think that's going on with that man is that he is one of he greatest singers that ever lived." She had no comment!

Just thinking @71 yrs there has been 2 people who are able to envoke in my soul sheer unbridled joy & excited pleasure- Joe Cocker is the #1. Something in the way he sings (ha, slight pun) consistently brings unrivaled blissful delight.
