Q: Why name yourselves Sudo Scientific?

A: Well, "sudo" is a Unix command. Pseudo scientific is how computer science feels when you don't know what you're doing.

    How can the recipient have the option to save my information once I tap my card on his or her device?

  • @SudoScientific
    @SudoScientificАй бұрын

    If you link the card to a website (like shown in the video), then the recipient can just bookmark the website and copy the information down later. Or, on certain websites (dot.cards), there is an automatic save contact info feature. You can also directly write contact info into an NFC tag as an NDEF contact record, which a few NFC writing apps have, and the recipient should be able to save that info. Hope that helps! -D

    I got nfc ntag216 888kb storage, unfortunately it's not working on iPhone I used nxp writer to write url in samsung galaxy s21 fe it's working fine on it but on its not iPhone working I tired 7, 12 and 14 pro. Plz help. Should I return the tag, or is there a way to make them work.

  • @SudoScientific
    @SudoScientific2 ай бұрын

    NTAG 216s should be able to work…if you only need to write to your NFC tags once, maybe just using your Samsung Galaxy could work? Or if you want it to work on iPhones, you can try using a different app, such as NFC Tools on iPhones (although this is a paid app). Let me know if any of those solutions work out! -D

    @@SudoScientific Bro, I tried but I think there was some problem with them, about being ndef, so returned it and bought a ntag215 from Amazon and they are working fine. I have written two links to the new cards 1 from of the unitlink profile and the other from the Canva project which contains my original card design and it works like a charm. Hey can you make a video on how to make an expiring tag

  • @SudoScientific
    @SudoScientific2 ай бұрын

    It might not be possible to make the tag itself expire, but an easy way to do that is to use a URL redirecting service (like bit.ly or tinyurl.com), connect that link to the tag, and delete the link after your desired period of time so the tag doesn't direct to anything anymore. Hope that helps! -D

    How I can print the cards, or add a design on the cards? thanks

  • @SudoScientific
    @SudoScientific5 ай бұрын

    Good question! There are a few options. (1) You can buy inkjet printable NFC cards (from Amazon or other places) if you have a compatible inkjet printer with card holding tray. (2) You can use a plotter with a Sharpie to draw your design. I used a Silhouette cutting machine with a pen holder (similar to a plotter) to write on the black NFC card in the video with a gel pen. (3) You can also use a laser engraver to burn your design on a light color card. -D

    I think if you show it to someone they next want to try to do the choosing from the 5 stack. In that case I don't think it's 'decodeable' with the remaining 4 cards. At least not without playing with extra positioning like putting a little bit higher/lower, etc.

  • @SudoScientific
    @SudoScientific5 ай бұрын

    You're right, the trick would sometimes be impossible if the person you show it to decides to choose the fifth card for you. But as long as you get to choose which card to keep and which cards to place, it'll work perfectly. Good observation, though; I wonder if there's a way to modify the trick so other people can choose the card and you can still make it work...maybe that's the subject for a future video, haha~ -D

  • @GabrielCosta-tj2cy
    @GabrielCosta-tj2cy5 ай бұрын

    @@SudoScientific hey, I came up with a way to make it work if someone wants to choose the hidden card, but for that to happen, one more card is needed in the trick. To do this, consider that Clubs are the opposite of Hearts, and Spades are the opposite of Diamonds. If the first card you put down is the lowest or only card in that suit, whoever is decoding must switch to the opposite suit. After this, there are 4 cards left: If the second card you choose is the lowest, the suit remains as it is, and you add the other 3 cards as in the original trick. If the second card chosen is the second lowest, the suit remains but you subtract the remaining 3 cards (same as in the original) If the second card chosen is the third lowest, you add it but change it to the other suit of the same color. If it is the highest, you subtract it and change to the suit of the same color. Example: 2D, 2S, 8S, 8C, QD and the hidden card is the 7H. The order could be: 8C 2S 2D 8S QD The 8C is the lowest of its suit, so you should switch to Hearts. 2S is the second lowest, so it keeps the suit and subtract the last 3. The last 3 are Small Medium Large = 1 (subtract 1 and it becomes 7H). This method allows multiple orders for the same result, in this case it would also be possible for the order to be 2S 8S QD 2D 8C 2S is the lowest of its suit, so switch to Diamonds. 8S is the third lowest, so switch to the suit of same color (Hearts) and add the last 3. The last 3 are Large Small Medium = 5, add 5 to 2. 7H.

    Nice! Your system seems to work flawlessly, and I think it's really clever! I was thinking as well; a simpler solution (to explain, definitely way harder to use in practice) is to assign every permutation of the 5 cards (differentiated by size) to a different card in the deck. With this solution, you could even go up to a deck of 125 unique cards-there are 5! = 120 permutations, and the guesser could eliminate the five cards they were shown. You'd have to find a nice way to memorize every permutation, though. I definitely like your solution better in some aspects. -D

    @@SudoScientific Nice! I didn't think about the possibility of representing the card whitout relating it to the other 5's. Sure, a nice way would be to use the first card to represent the suit. Lowest = clubs ..... Then the other 4 to represent the number!

  • @SudoScientific

    My guess is that the information you wrote to the NFC tag is incomplete to trigger an action in background tag reading. For instance, I have seen people writing URLs to their tags without the '' prefix. In that case, the tag can still trigger an automation in the Shortcuts, since a Shortcuts automation is triggered by the unique UID of the tag, but not its contents. I hope this helps! -D
