For anyone about to do this I highly advise getting the rubber tube seal that the thermo housing slots on to. Mine was buggered after I pushed the new housing on and took 3 weeks till I had a really bad leak. The rubber tube is only 30 bucks from merc in Australia and will save you going back and doing it all over again if it’s brittle and old. Plus it makes getting the new housing into place waaaay easier as you can keep more play on the tube.

Ahh. Bonus small speaker with the Bose system. Cable replacement sounds tempting, as aftermarket regulator for me was tilted out by 2mm and is refusing to let the glass touch the vertical rubber just above the door (touches at top).

This was a helpful video as I could not find one to match a 2010 c220 cdi. It took me an hour to do the change, a bit fiddly but with some long nose pliers the clamps came off easily. Only required E10 torx for the 4 bolts. The thermostat casing I removed had a small crack which was causing a leak which I suspect was caused by a slightly faulty thermostat causing too much pressure (about 1 litre leak/200km). I installed a Vemo after removing the MB part, also a new O ring on the top hose to the radiator. $146 AU for the part and $36 AU for a small torx set. The CEL came on for a short while and after checking some blogs and waiting it turned off. Operating temp showing at @90C now instead of 60-80 variable

Thank you very much for taking the time to produce this video, it's brilliant and very clear what to do. I wouldn't normally attempt any job like this, but felt confident after watching it. My daughter's 2012 Mk 2 TT had this problem about 2 years and I found a video on how to clean the terminal and that worked and lasted as I say 2 years. This time I wanted a more permanent solution and I found these instructions. I too went with the earth grounding posts in the bottom of the boot as mentioned below. I am happy to report I managed the complete the job in about an hour and the rear light is working perfectly - THANK YOU persistrich

Great video. Sidenote: Got to love Audi`s choice of using one million screws to hold the tail light assembly together which you have to unscrew just to change a single lightbulb. Because why make it easy and fast by designing a solid clamp/latch system when you instead can make it really timeconsuming by using a ton of screws threaded in to plastic that gets easly damaged.

Do you need to do both lights?. I have the 2 inner indicator bulbs on all the time with lights off.when lights on all 4 indicator bulbs are on permanent and flash very faint when used. Fronts ok. I done this mod on both lights but only the right had slight burn on connector but made no difference. Any ideas please💡

This right here is good stuff! My A7 is popping on both rear lights! SMH! I hook my OBD11 up hoping to just clear codes thinking maybe they would clear after I shut off my side markers.. No such luck. The one thing I didn’t see in this video (and maybe I missed it) did you cut the original ground wire once you bypassed it? Or did you just leave it?

  • @persistrich

Every chain drive motorcycle in the universe has a tight spot. I have never seen a chain/sprocket motorcycle that did not have a tight spot. You have to adjust your chain slack when you have the wheel in a position that the chain is at its thghtest.. The reason there is always always always a tight spot, is the machining of the sprockets… spin your wheels and when you find a tight spot, Mark your sprocket with magic marker or paint or fingernail polish at the 3 o’clock or 12 o’clock position so that you can rotate the wheel, put that spot in the position where the chain is the tightest, and then check your chain slack

Well I made this video for the TT and the chances are they are the two cars are similar so try doing the same thing as in this video but apply it to the front lights. It will be slightly different but what you need to look for is a bad earth, corrosion, burn etc around the terminals. Join an Audi forum and ask some questions too. Good luck
