The box turned out really beautiful. A great job. In one point, you could make it easier for yourself. If you only saw out the outer shape at the very end, after the back wall has already been glued on. This way you have straight surfaces on the outside when gluing and forcing the saw cuts together where the clamps can be applied better and gluing on the back wall is also easier because it doesn't matter if it shifts by 1 or 2mm.

A recent high quality and longterm studies, publicated in the "Journal of wood science" by Robert Q. Thompson, revealed most of the false notions in a WIKIhow article on ebonizing woods (representative of the content of woodworker' sites on the internet though 🙈). The perfect and most efficiant recipe for the best outcome of the iron acid ebonizing wood stain is the following (the ratio of the 0000 steel wool and 5% DW white vinegar is very important and the lid width of the open jar has an impact as well !): Add exact 85 ml WHITE Vinegar 5% solution to 1g of fine steel wool (0000) into a jar and stir with a plastic/wood kind of tool (NO metallics - reactions can be manipulated!). Leave jar open (your solution with the cut latex glove to secure the liquid from any dirt is accepted though 😅) and stir again every 24 hours. After day 3 (THREE DAYS 😮) the iron acid reaction has come to it's finalization! After this time the further reactions show every other colour but the best effect you could have reached with the stain after 3 days, will lead to a downwards spiral. I've just prepared the a.m. recipe and can't await the final result. Let's hope for the best! 😂🎉

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzread.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

Great simple construction. I know this is an older video but I'm thinking of making one of these. I just had to restore a staircase worth of antique spindles by hand, mostly just sanding. Something like this would have saved me enough time, I think, to build one of these machines. Hind sight is 20/20 😣

This is not all iron(lll)acetate but just a small part, when reacting vinegar with iron you would think to get iron(lll)acetate but not because iron nails will contain 2+ ions and iron acetate needs 3+ ions to form so we have to add hydrogen peroxide to them

I made one of these a couple of years ago - the "Disapearing Lathe". The headstock, tailstock and toolrest are three separate parts that clamp onto the edge of a B&D Workmate. It turns about a 5" diameter piece. For the tailstock, I made a live centre using the front wheel hub from a bicycle, because of the adjustable thrust ball bearing.
