    looks like your about to blow up, found you on my recommended page :) subscriber # 400! Edit: Red cabbage, despite its purplish hue, is traditionally called "red cabbage" due to historical and linguistic reasons. The name "red cabbage" can be traced back to older classifications and descriptions of plants, where the term "red" was used to describe a range of colors that we might today call purple or violet. Historically, the term "red" was often used more broadly. Many languages and cultures didn't differentiate between red and purple as distinctly as we do today. For example, in old English and other European languages, the word for red often encompassed shades of what we now consider purple.

    Can i add sesame seeds

  • @youdonthavetobeachef
    @youdonthavetobeachef2 ай бұрын

    Of course! The beauty here is that you can add whatever you want, and replace whatever you want - so, different vinegars/lemon juice... a mix of both and then add as you wish- We gave a bunch of ideas in the description. Personally, I would say that any seeds, including sesame, have to do with the salad itself, rather than the dressing. I do recommend roasting them a bit- Sesame seeds can be roasted in a dry pan (no oil at all) for just a few minutes until they get a tan color.

    Too much olive oil!!!!!!

  • @youdonthavetobeachef
    @youdonthavetobeachef4 ай бұрын

    This is a basic ratio, and will be similar in most vinaigrette recipes you'll find out there. Indeed in this case its a whole cup of oilve oil, which sounds like a lot, but the recipe also yields a lot of dressing, to use in several portions of salads. if you put less, then it will have a very strong vinegar flavor. Just for the sake of argument, for a big salad for 4-6 people i will probably use a 1/3 or less of the total... it's just proportion- you don't have to make/use as much. Hope this makes sense

  • @hattiem.7966
    @hattiem.79664 ай бұрын

    @@youdonthavetobeachef Yes on the ratio and serving the same dressing to a few people.I have a small family and we like different dressings.I never had olive oil 'til I was in my mid 20's.I grew up with plain old veg oil and prefer canola nowdays.I'll splurge and buy grapeseed once in a blue moon.

  • @youdonthavetobeachef
    @youdonthavetobeachef4 ай бұрын

    @@hattiem.7966 Well, Olive oil is healthier and more flavorful than Canola. Therefore usually the go-to oil in dressings. I guess for a family that each likes different dressing it's a problem eitherway. However- you can make this portion, then divide the total to 3 jars, and then do a different variation in each - honey mustard, herbs, etc. Whatever works- that's the fun of it

  • @hattiem.7966

    @@youdonthavetobeachef Yes,I could make 3 different dressings out of it.Thanks for your suggestions. :) My Mom's friend was a great cook and she had 20 bottles of salad dressing in her frig!!!! Her hubby had to have a small salad each day for lunch or dinner.My late Mother-in-law was also a great cook and would make a big salad in a wooden bowl and pour homemade balsamic or french dressing on it.Her fav was the one with dijon mustard.She didn't use that much Dijon tho.
