My mother in law and father in law, God rest their souls, told us early on in our marriage, they literally ate Mac and cheese for one year and back then, saved enough money for a down payment on their house! My sister in law made fried potatoes and pinto beans every day for a year! I know it can be done but not sure I could! My family is super picky. Getting them all to eat a dish is hard.

I agree. Rice and beans are low in complete protein. Not a good long term food source. You can usually find some form of ground beef on sale and you get complete protein.

“Rice and Beans” is a metaphor for eating cheap. Dave himself said that his cheap meal was tuna fish.

Dave Ramsey has said he didn’t mean actual just beans and rice or rice and beans what he meant was good onto a bare bones budget and stop eating out or ordering in and eat from home. That’s what he said. He meant by that everybody’s taking this concept and ran with it thinking that he literally meant just beans and rice and Dave Ramsey himself has said that’s not the case. 0:21

I have never thought of fish stick tacos! They look really yummy. Wondering if my grands would like them. I have a bunch of chicken legs in the deep freeze and the last time I made them they were tough and chewy. Maybe I'll try your method of the crock pot then the grill. Looks wonderful 🙂

  • @MealsWithMaria

The “rice and beans” is symbolic for just eating on the cheap. He doesn’t literally mean only eat rice and beans. This one lady called in because she was sick and wanted soup but her husband was like, “No, Dave said rice and beans.” Dave said the guy wasn’t understanding him at all.

🤦🏻‍♀️ I would say unbelievable but then again I will never forget the college professor who phoned the pharmacy I used to work at to ask me “When can I eat?”. I was confused initially but then he explained that in the bottle of his new medication, he had found a little packet that said “DO NOT EAT”. Yes. An entire college professor took the warning not to consume the desiccant packet to mean that he was consigned to a perpetual fast. Oy!

I bought a shekf stable package of Tofu for $2.00 and decided to finally use it. Drained it, placed in a skillet with Butter and broke it up into pieces, added Sausage pieces, Seasonings and Veggies for a breakfast scramble. Made 5 servings and was so tasty I will definitely do this again. Sausage on clearance and ysed 1 link, veggies on clearance so was a super low cost breakfast.

I used to make tofu pie, it's like a pudding, I just poured a package of instant pudding into the whipped-up tofu and put it into a shell with whipped cream. You have to eat it up right away, as it goes bad in two days. Butterscotch was the best tofu pie.

Adding honey to the yoghurt breakfast helps with allergies and immune system. Also, kiddos will scarf it down 😉💞 Try to buy honey from local bees as that honey will have the pollen from local flowers etc. Buying honey from Brazil might taste good but doesn't have the properties of healing you need. Thanks for great ideas.
