  im just so confused on this. i have joystick axis selected on aileron axis and it still acts like a button, i have to go all the way left or right before it will roll left or right and it goes all the way. like i cant just barely move an axis. idk whats wrong with this thing, but dcs and star citizen was never this hard to get set up. i cant even get rudders and ailerons or pitch to be correct.

  You can get the Max version mounted on UCM by removing the MFH, installing the new base plate as shown in this video and attaching the STEM unit to the perforated UCM bracket.

  Went through a ton of old reddit threads and how-tos on setting encoders as axis. The lag in MSFS 2020 is unbearable and leaves me feeling like I should take a sobriety test before every flight. This video knocked out weeks of stress in a couple of minutes. Now I have an analog Speedbrake and a smooth elevator trim. Thank you! One exception to note in this tutorial: when setting an encoder as an axis, the button function needs to be set to "No Function" in Profile>Buttons. MSFS will see both the axis and the button input and get really confused. Setting the buttons on the encoder to no function resolves this. Side note: As some have observed, recalibration is required.

  Why is it recommended that you use a "silent" button instead of checking the Track as Button box and having it show up in the games' bindings menus? Wouldn't you want it to show up so that you can see that it's working?

  I have a question, if I buy a gladiator nxt evo and a couple of these modules and at some point later I want to update to a gunfighter base using the appropriate parts can I use the modules somehow? Thanks

  The NXT modules work either connected to a Gladiator base or independently, by upgrading them with a GNX HID Controller (kzread.info/dash/bejne/dJuYsbapo6i1YpM.html). So, to answer your question, yes.

  The amount of value this provides is off the charts. I loved the Saitek X45, 52 and 56 but this is so much more versatility. Granted, it's about $50 more expensive when you factor in an avg price for the x56 is ~$230 for the joystick and throttle, so each would be $115. The premium version of the gladiator is $165. For that extra $50, you get so much!

  Like others folks have mentioned, I ran out of M5 washers, and also did not know how to assemble the keyboard/phone and drink holders without a link someone provided to the VKB forums. This should be added to the video or included in a knowledgebase article of some type perhaps linked from the product page.

  It's recommended. You can save your current profile, reflash, then load it back. I suggest not include the calibration into the profile, or at least recalibrate again after flashing and loading the profile.

  The throttle on my Gladiator EVO GT R XT2 v2.165 does not respond at all. Tried reflashing the firmware and calibrating. cannot enter access mode with the mini stick either.

  Yes! It took me a short bit to experiment, but I made the big RGB LED blink when I turned on the DR (double rate) on my axes 1/2! The setup was EVENT: Fix Axis, OP1: 4, LED: 10, Fast blink, Color1 set to 0:7:0 (I wanted green)... and it worked! I had to guess the OP1 parameter, 0 didn't work, I assumed that 1-3 was FA1-3 and 4 is DR? Wild guess really, but that's how it works. I love it! (For completness, I used F2 button for DA toggle, switched it to Fix Axes, FA Type: DR, alternate action: check. The checkbox may not appear right away, go away from the window and try again. Choose axes 1 and 2 - that is roll and pitch.)

  How do we upgrade the firmware on a Gunfighter IV SCG with a MK 3 Black Box? I see no firmware folder for MK3 Black Box, just MK 1 and MK 2. There is a Unified MK3 file, but none of the videos go over this.

  Just flash the Unified firmware, then reset to default, click Yes at the popup asking to configure, then calibrate. That's it.

  ok really this needs to get easyer. I am not a native speaker and this is so complex i have no chance. I am now left with a Stecs standart Throttle that is constantly blinking and i have noch clue why. So Software in terms of LEDs is really not good and i am so frustrated right now. Normally controlling leds should be an easy task.

  You can reset it to default, then try again to program the LEDs. You can always get back to factory settings by clicking the Default button, clicking Yes to the following popup asking to configure and calibrating like here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l5qWxqivc5fJj5c.html

  Hey! I love my STECS! :-) One question though, If I want to replace a module (e.g. a one way button to a 5 way switch) and then run the auto configuration - it will rearrange all virtual buttons so I have to remap my DCS config all over again. Is there a way to prevent that and only use unused virtual buttons instead of replacing existing ones? :-)

  If you relocated the buttons between the physical and logical layers you'll have to rebuild your configuration after resetting to default. Otherwise there shouldn't be any issue with DCS other than binding the extra controls. Save your current profile in any case, so you'll have a backup if it goes wrong.

  for some reason my joystick (top center) was not registering in the rot x/y axes. i swapped it for another that came in the box and it still wouldnt do what yours did in the video. however on "buttons / POVs" it was logging after i clicked log joystick. yet still not in rot x/y. is it faulty or am i missing something?

  The default module on the MCGU is a ministick and it's programmed as both digital and analog by default - POV in first stage and axes in the second; swapping between modes is made through the center push button kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHaFw8aLfqvLdNI.html

  Having the clutches greased properly made a world of difference for me. My GF Mk III must've been sitting on VKB EU's shelf for two years when I got it (bought Sept 2022, production date on packaging is Sept 2020) and the grease that was on there must've turned bad and sticky. Which made the GF basically unusable out of the box, with any sort of clutch applied. The factory grease wasn't translucent like Nyogel 767A or like the dampening grease used on the Gladiator Evo - it looked dark and brownish. Perhaps because it was old or perhaps they were using different grease back when my stick was made. In any case: Simply getting rid of the old stuff by cleaning and de-greasing the clutches made things much better, but still not like what I would've expected in terms of smoothness and precision - it still felt considerably worse than my Gladiator Evo. Since my tube of Nyogel was still in the mail, I used some of the extra grease in my Gladiator's "stash" to re-grease both clutches. Which literally transformed the stick into probably the best flight-stick I've ever used in over 20 years of flight-simming. I've since added VKB's 100mm extension to my setup, making it necessary to run maximum spring-tension on the Y-axis (50+40) - which also meant I had to go pretty hard on the clutches, but it seems that the Evo's grease is strong enough to deal with these forces. AFAIK, that grease is about the same strength-wise as Nyogel 767A. I've never tried the stick with a 200mm extension, but I would suspect that with that setup I might have to look into stronger braking grease. The difference in leverage between "grip only" and "grip plus 100mm extension" (MCGP) was quite significant already. So far, the Evo's grease has lasted me over 1.5 years of daily use with no discernible degradation in performance - I am currently thinking about re-greasing it, but it doesn't seem necessary at the moment. It is a bit of an operation, since I use my GF mounted, so I'm not really looking forward to that.. :D
