    Every time a grocery store closes up and moves out, we hear about ‘inner- city food -deserts’. This has been the mantra for thirty years or more. I wonder why the ‘community’ never seizes the opportunity to open their own grocery store? Certainly, with all the government subsidies for minority owned businesses, they could get funding to start a grocery store. But alas, they know what would happen and decide the risk is too great.

    Will the remaining containers be removed in Baltimore, or stay on Dali until it ties up in Va?

    I love how the councilman casts aspersions on the store for deciding to move after he tries to ‘convince’ them to carry different items, take advantage of tax incentives(read-have the government as a partner)yet he fails to mention anything about accountability from the ‘community’ who have made the store so unprofitable that they say ‘no more’. They always act like it’s the business’s responsibility to feed the ‘community’ weather they pay for their food or not

    Yeah, right!!! Millions and millions of people stream across the border constantly, and Customs is worried about 21 Sailors that don't have a visa???? WTF is wrong with that picture???

    You're skrong and totally independent, you got this! I'm sure that all of these multi-generational serially incarcerated thugs that you've spent the last 50 plus years vehemently claiming that you can raise better all by yourself without a man, played a really big part in the stores waning profitability!

    Hi Elizabeth, hey there it seems to me the general public doesn`t understand that the crew of the M/V Dali does not meet the visa requirements to legally enter the US. Seamen have a very particular type of visa which only permits them to stay legally in US soil for a few days, I am sure their visas are already expired, consecuently they cant get off the ship, unless inmigration authorities grant them the type of visa which allows them to legally stay in US for some weeks, months etc. I am almost certain that`s the main reason why they havent been able to leave their ship yet, even almost two months after the horrendous accident with the Key bridge took place . My most sincere condolences to the families of the victims, rgs

    Most of the crew would have nothing to do with the collision. Perhaps the ships electrician and the engine room personnel. We haven't heard exactly what when wrong. It could be the fault of Hyundai for poorly designed electrical breakers. At the rime the ship was under the command of the pilots. However they weren't prepared for a complete shut down of the mechanical systems.

    They should let the crew members leave the ship for a few days so they can re-unite with family and friends or just get off the ship for a welcome change of scenery. It would be easy for the authorities to keep track of the crew.

    So this is the RESULT that the usual suspects, who ARE their own people, cause when constantly stealing the items from the businesses. The community NEEDs to talk to their usual suspects strongly as No business is going to remain where their goods are constantly stolen by usual suspects.

    They sign on for months at a time. Some 3-6 months. They live on these ship. Some ports they won’t even get off the ships. Look at our Navy. They deploy for 6-12 months or longer. It’s a sea going career. Most are probably getting more rest with the ship in port the they would underway.

    They do not have valid visa's to visit the USA. They can probably walk the pier next to the ship if they need to inspect the ropes and shore service connections; but to go further they need to get a "shore leave" visa. I am sure that will happen for most of them; but it often takes time. Usually ships arrange for shore leave well before they enter a port. The Accidental collision and resulting investigations have totally disrupted the process.

  • @perryallan3524
    @perryallan35246 сағат бұрын

    @@mini_mozzer Normally only part of a ships crew goes on shore leave at a time - they rotate so most people can have some time ashore. Near the port will be a line of businesses that cater to sailors on shore leave - some of these will be bars. Others will be restaurants and various stores that sell various things.
