Beautiful work! Recycling old. Tools for new and better functionality! 👍🏻😎
@@Dbean48 thanks for your kind comment and support, I really appreciate it
This is rediculously polished I laughed and liked it
I laughed too because I wanted to stop at 240 grit and I couldn't. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
This hammer would make a nice walllhanger, but not too useable with all that finishing material on the handle. The first thing any experience mechanic would do is to use sandpapr and remove all the finish from the handle down to bare wood. Much better grip that way.
Brilliant job and fantastic editing. I have missed how satisfying it is to watch you work. Great project idea. Well done, keep them coming 👍
Thank you so much for your continued support, I really appreciate it. It was a very fun project, because I didn't know if I would be able to give it an attractive shape, but I'm very happy with the result and I'm taking it with me everywhere and showing it to everyone I know. 😅
@@LTMS always my friend and that is such a great idea to show people. Now you just need to get it outsourced and your in business
@@Austeration I've been thinking about it for some time now, maybe I'll open a shop on etsy before the end of the year 😉
@@LTMS I like it. You will never know unless you give it a go
Sleek and well built. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks to you for the appreciation and for the support to the channel
Very nice crafting. I’ve had a little interest in leathercraft- nice to see your skill. I think you could market that holder. Very nice.
Thank you for your kind comment, much appreciated. I saw that there is a lot of demand for this type of goods, but at the moment leatherwork is a hobby and I make objects for myself and some gifts for friends. Who knows, maybe one day I'll go into business.
@@LTMS I’m new to your channel. Looking forward to your content.

Pleasure --keep up the good work --!
Thank you
Been tanning leather for50 odd years ---croc /leopard / ostrich ---but now I am striating my own wallets /beltes etc --here in Africa
Nice, thanks for sharing, I appreciate it
I saw a video of a beauty made from walnut --mass produced it has 2 handles on the base -like cricket bat handles --you squeeze em together to release your workpiece --
I want to make something similar
Mine has a strong spring ---built it for quick release etc !
there are many ways to make them, I'm designing one without knobs, because sometimes the thread (when is long) gets caught in them. The important thing is that it meets your needs.
IE THE EMBEDDED steel nut must not work loose !
As I told you in the other comment, after 3 years I have not encountered any problems, and not even the people who downloaded the template have reported any malfunctions...
That fancy rotary wooden knob for opening & closing the pony clamp --has to be held /bonded TIGHTLY & securely in place !
the spring tension keeps it in place, I've been using this pony for 3 years now and the only change I've made to it is the color (now it's dark)
mirror baby....MIRROR

Very nice. Would you follow same process for restoring shovel head as far as, wire brush, citric acid, baking soda and oil?
For a shovel, if you intend to use it, I would stop at the wire brush, once the surface rust has been removed I would just put some oil. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it.
Notable!
Thank you
The little wheel in the jigsaw's guide is carbon steel made. A similar mechanism made of aluminum can last a few weeks or less
@@jessefagundes6965 I gave an idea for a different mechanism, it can always be made in steel. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I would happely pay for that template :)
I didn't make a model because the knives can have different sizes. I simply traced the outline directly onto a piece of paper. I recently published 2 photos with the measurements in the community section, I hope they help you.

Tôi thích giấu nó đi vì nó khá nhàm chán, nhưng tôi chỉ đơn giản sử dụng giấy nhám 800 grit và sau đó là một miếng vải nỉ đơn giản có dán chất mài mòn. Cảm ơn
Far to long winded for me. I have recovered several hammers, its not great watching.

Thank you.
Nice job, but brutal to see you work with known carcinogens barehanded. Your life is worth a .15 cent pair of nitrile gloves.
Thank you for the comment and the advice, I wear gloves when necessary, but here I haven't really touched the product with my hands.

The most important ingredient is the cat for the quality control!
When I make leather goods he is almost always present and follows every phase with great interest. When I cut the leather the first scrap is always from him, he bites it and plays with it for a long time. "Bombo" thanks you for your kind comment (and so do I).
Very nice
Thank you, I appreciate it.
Enginnering Marvel to follow on all tools. Around 7:50 it mentioned Optional make it cool, it that a Ting varnish? The bar code was in the shawdow. 😊I think it is not available for US enthusiast.
Thank you very much for the kind comment. I write "make it cool" when I dye or varnish a tool, what I used is a simple concentrated water-based wood stain. it is a product of Veleca, an Italian paint company that makes excellent products that I use a lot (I am not sponsored). Any dye available in your country will definitely work. I also thank you for your support of the channel and I hope you will enjoy the other contents.
Thanks, many restorers go for impressive looking projects often to showcase their expensive tools and worskshops. I'm probably never going to restore an 1804 oak dresser, but I do need to fix some of my hammers.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Now I have a few more tools, but when I restored this hammer I only had the drill and the dremel, but it doesn't matter because I've learned a lesson: "do the best you can with what you have". And about the dresser... don't limit yourself, you can always learn how to restore it.
👍

У меня есть ржавый лом...возьметесь ?
no thanks, I have some too
what is the finish you use on the handle? Also what is the treatment you use on the steel which turns it black?
For the handle I used wood wax (as indicated in the caption at 9:32) , for cold bluing a specific product that you can see very well at 5:33.
How well does this work with suede? Looking to make a pair of moccasins and thought about waterproofing them
I'm sorry but I can't help you, I don't use suede and therefore I have no references about it. You can try making a small amount and testing it on a sample.

Superb work. I guess you could use fire to do that gradient finish in the handle.
Probably yes, but with water-based dye I make less mess. Thank you for your kind comment and support.
Very nice!! This was a 15 mibute video on a hammer! I saw this wannabe restoration guy make a 14 minute video on a totally destroyed by fire toy tanker truck. Obviously that lt it was fake. This was a great restoration!! Awesome!
