    I'm impressed you took it in on the sides and rebuilt the pockets! I would've taken it in from the back with an elastic or with darts (which would've changed the look though). Great job overall! The dress is beautiful, it fits you well, and as long as you're comfortable in it, that's a win-win-win. Way to go! 🥰

    Lovely video! I do have a question for you - how do you like your Baby Lock sewing machine? I've been thinking about upgrading to a model from that same range but a little nervous to spend the $! (I've been sewing for 10+ years on a super basic Brother sewing machine from Walmart, so really anything would be an improvement)

    I absolutely love my baby lock. I had a beginner brother machine for many years as well and getting this new machine definitely changed the game for me. It’s 100% worth the investment for a smoother sewing experience ; ) I purchased mine online at www.sewingmachinesplus.com

    You should look up the Ilford jacket by Friday patter co as it is easy and unisex , it is a jacket pattern and perhaps you can make one for your husband out of corduroy for Christmas and maybe a matching one for you. There are tutorials as well. You’re a great sewist and I enjoy your channel

    Love your apron and the dress. To make sure that I do not forget important information on my pattern, I highlight those so I can easily see what I have to do. I have a feeling that I’m here to stay on your channel, I just love the relaxed way you do everything and get great results. I also mean filming approach and editing. ❤ But one thing I don’t get is why people use patterns for things so simple like an apron. I did aprons just by measuring and eyeballing, I wouldn’t bother printing and taping out a pattern😅. I guess it’s just another way of working.

I remember being 11 and helping my mom smash out the tile in our dining room and kitchen and it made me catch the home renovation bug. Lovely skirt! This is unsolicited, but when cutting with a rotary cutter, never put your hands or fingers in front of the blade (in the direction it is traveling). Just a small slip can cause a bad cut or injury, which can genuinely impact your whole life as you wait for your hand to heal. If the fabric is shifting, you could use more pattern weights or put pressure next to where you are cutting (but not in the path). There are also metal safety gloves you could wear too.

    Well done, the dress turned out so nice in the end, sorry you had so much trouble with it. What you did seems like a good fix, I might have tried adding waist ties, that way you can cinch it in as much as you like, and loosen it when you want to be relaxed. Looking forward to more sewing videos :)

    Did you know that majority of the store bought clothing isn’t perfect? I challenge you to use a seam ripper and disassemble a button down shirt. You will realize that even fast fashion companies are not perfect and the factory workers aren’t perfect. It gives you realization your work doesn’t have to be perfect because nothing is perfect. The end result with the edits turned out great and bravo for pushing through and trouble shooting it. Did you check the finished measurements of the garment before deciding what size to make? I always find the size I should make based on my measurements and then calculate the ease of the garment from the finished garment measurements. The pattern looks like it had a lot of ease in it but I know that’s the pattern designers style. I giggled a bit when you said you and your husband laughed until you cried. I have been there. I think all sewists have. But you did great in the end. I think I would have given up and moved on to another project.

  • @christinesnotebook
    @christinesnotebookАй бұрын

    I didn’t really check the finished garment size, my method is usually just wing it and hope for the best!

    My first linen dresses I made the same pattern and cut out the size according to their measurements 😂 it was about 2 sizes to big. I had to redo both dresses, put some ties on them, then I was happy. I also bought lightweight linen and made a slip.

    If next time of want to eliminate the binding you would so the main front and back at the shoulders. Repeat with the lining. Right sides together sew the main and the lining around the neck line. Do the burrito method ( KZread it) for the armholes. Then right sides together sew the main fabric side seams and repeat for the lining. Give it a good press. I can find you a video if you are interested.

    Congratulations! You did very well on this project. This dress is very nice!!! I love the fabric that you used. For the lining, I think you could sew one that you could wear with all your dresses in a very light coton or linen. If you use beige coton, that will be great. And it will saved on the long run because you will not have to purchase lining fabric all the time. Have a good day! Elise
