Big Horn Armory, Inc. started in 2008, with the expressed purpose of designing a Browning type lever action gun, chambered in 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum. The principals and employees of Big Horn Armory have many years’ experience in the firearms industry. We are dedicated to making All American guns, made in America. We committed several years to refining and perfecting the design, sizing the action specifically to this cartridge. We call it our Model 89. It seemed an obvious choice, since the size of the action is just about halfway between a Model 1886 and Model 1892. The design closely follows the work of John Browning, with some modern refinements guided mostly by modern metallurgy and machining techniques. We often wondered how the Master would have used the tools and knowledge that was not available during his time. We only make guns that we would be proud to own ourselves. As such, our commitment to quality, fit and finish rivals that seen in many custom only guns.

I had feeding issues with mine. Tried shooting 600 gr leadcast ammo and some 400 gr brass spike ammo. The brass spike ammo wouldnt feed from the magazine. As if the bolt carrier wasnt making good contact with the rounds in the mag. Top side of the shells seemed scratched as if the carrier did it. And the leadcast ammo didnt want to feed into the chamber. Even got jammed in there. Needed 2 people to force the charging handle back and eject the stuck round from it. Wasnt sure if the rifle cant handle the 600 leadcast or maybe it should be loaded through the ejector port instead. A little disappointing since its the only firearm in the world meant for that caliber. 350 gr HP rounds fed just fine through it tho. Maybe I'll just stick to that and avoid the more exotic rounds 😒
Should make them to cycle 700 grain bullet
I love that you have your boys with you.
Too expensive
If you don't reload, you may wish to forego this one. It does look real nice.
For some reason Steinel and Buffalo Bore seem to load most of their ammo for this the same as .50 Beowulf. Finding 350 gr. loads going slower than some 400 gr in Beowulf. I'm wondering if those particular projectiles don't suffer performance wise at higher speeds. Even in Beo, the 350 gr. are usually slower than my factory 400 gr.
Nice but since no one sells 475 Linebaugh ammo that would make it a useless buy 🤷
Buffalo Bore, Steinel & Underwood all make ammunition for this gun.
awesome thanks
You guys make fabulous rifles. It’s very refreshing to see that craftsman who take pride in their work still exist in America. 🇺🇸
Is it hard to take apart? When I'm cleaning my other levers I'll at least pull the bolt out.
Very nice
Yes this is such a classic, such as improving on long meter damage ranges, thank you!! 🫡🙏🏿💯
Great info! I really like the vise? 👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
I'm sure there are plenty of how to clean videos for lever actions but it'd be nice to see how a BHA gunsmith would clean 1 of their rifles, in this case an 89. And what cleaning materials and supplies they'd use. As well as any tips and tricks to keep in mind. Thanks again
We'll be filming that video this week, stay tuned!
a great very interesting video and rifle.have a good one the bha.
Have you guys tried some of the hard cast ammos that steinel offers in your 89s? The ammo has a shape that I wonder if it would cycle correctly in your rifles
The 700 gr will not cycle through the action, but can be top loaded. The 600 gr may cycle as it is near maximum OAL. Again it can be top loaded. The rest should work fine.
Very nice rifle!
Man I really enjoy your videos
👍🏻
Copper holds up to concrete a little better than lead.
With quality loads from Buffalo Bore, DoubleTap, Grizzly, or Underwood.... you'd notice a more dramatic spread of velocity with the barrel lengths. Federal's load is already pretty much max efficiency with shorter barrels. I'd go with 18" probably, to grab max magazine capacity.
Love the microphone you guys are using, truly spectacular. Pooey on the naysayers.
Fantastic craftsmanship!!
A product to aspire to. Maybe one day I'll fork over the dough.
That is a great looking rifle! Well done BHA.
You really should look into a way to attach a harris bipod to your standard 89
First
Nice rifle to hang on wall but I'm waiting for the rifle caliber version 😭
Whats the pricing on this?
Nice blue gem
You guys are hard to get hold of! No one seems to answer email anymore😕.
What are you looking for?
Absolutely beautiful
Shes a beauty!
Accidentally ordered 500 auto max ammo, oops 😬 now I just Neeeed to get this big horn AR 😊
What did he mean by it fits AR-15 mags? Does that mean you can shoot the 50 Beowulf cartridges thru it? Can you put another AR-10 upper on it like a 30.06? I’m not sure how it can use both, maybe he meant AR-10 mags.
If I believed everything they said in this video, I’d be running to the store to get one.
Exactly, lmao.
I hate seeing case hardening without all the colors like this. This is how it should look. Well done gentlemen
fancy walnut?..haaa
New to firearms terminology?
super nice..but? collector grade?..hmmm
bullshit on swinging the gong ..just sayin.
круто от слона до крысы! всех одним патроном)
It cost 2 grand, BUT, expect to spend ABOUT 500.00 MORE TO BE COME A HAND LOADER. Then you can afford to shoot it!
Hacen envíos a España?
We can via OIF Exporting in Ohio.
@@BigHornArmory Who should I contact for shipping here to Spain with any Spanish gun shop?
rode the wave of 505 recoil to cycle the bolt
that's not fancy walnut..just sayin.
No it’s Exhibition Grade Circassian Walnut Stock.
@@trg3761 for that money..just say no.
Gorgeous 😍😍😍
You call that HANTING???? ….
Bison, cattle, other animals of the same species don't bound off into the woods like a white tail deer. What are you expecting?
Overlooked video. Well done. “Consistent”? Fine demonstration of such! Thanks for sensible content.
I line the 460 but I don't support S&W after they killed Thompson center.
Boom jam, boom jam, boom jam......
Need to adjust the pressure valve. BUT, the 9 round aga suck, you have to run PLASTIC mags they don't swell like the metal.
