As we are not to reject truth from other traditions or cultures we should make sure that the bible is the standard of our living. If we embrace wisdom from traditions, more that the bible we are to fall into the devils plan.
Its not about climate change, whatever seems to be happening in the name of climate change has been engineered and planned to happen such that the world gets into chaos and the root causer comes up with a solution. They have refused to obey Gods laws from the begining e.g sabbath rest which would help the world be normal. Earth sabbath will be the opposite of the true sabbath of God. That's the only thing in laudator si. Animals and chicken farms, forest are being burned down intentionally. Look at forest fires in Russia, china, and many other places. It's on plan to be like that, it's not a coincidence. So the pope is very much aware with his clergy about what is going on. I don't see a help ahead but more trouble ahead even if it be considered.

This video maybe almost a decade old, can Father Horan make an update video about Thomas Merton especially in the light of the recent uncovering of the nature of Merton’s death. He did not die in an accident as long reported since but in a political assassination and cover-up (with the coerced cooperation of the Gethsemani Abbey superiors at that time) by the CIA due to his anti-war activism and the widespread public reception of his peace message. Take up and read the recently published investigative report books, “The Martyrdom of Thomas Merton,” and “Thomas Merton’s Betrayers” by Hugh Turley and David Martin. In Merton we have a martyr and saint of the Cold War and of the Deep State. St. Thomas Merton, pray for us!

I would recommend Seeds of Contemplation, No Man is an Island, Raids, or Birds of Appetite as the first book to read, depending on who I'm recommending it to. That said, my first were The Silent Life, and Ascent to Truth. My experience leads me to believe it almost doesn't matter what you read first. If the cover jacket description connects for you, pick it up.

Thomas Merton really stood for Vatican 2 the world is the kingdom of God the Catholic Church and the religions of the world and we are all one in God therefore evangelisation is irrelevant were all going to heaven because there is no Hell. Thomas Merton imbibed eastern mysticism into his Catholic thinking and so has the modern church always evolving always changing, making it easier for other religions to accept. Gone has the dogma there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church.
This prayer touches us because this is what of most of us feel.

I appreciate this series greatly, Fr Horan. In the years since you made it, we have seen disastrous weather causing heat domes to become environmental catastrophes. In 2021 a heat dome caused Sicily and British Columbia to reach 120º F for the first time. The 2023 heat domes are more common and even hotter. We urgently need to begin a serious exploration on how to rehydrate the inhabited continents by developing continental water management.
I first read Thomas Merton in the Society of Jesus Novitiate in Ungaran, Central Java, Indonesia in 1982. I have been searching for something like this throughout my life. Thank you Daniel, you have been very helpful. Greetings from Indonesia.

Thank you, Fr. Dan! I stumbled on this series some time ago and kept it to "watch later". I acquired my own copy of Laudato Si when it was published and read and underlined much of it! I was so happy to see a Pope finally issue an encyclical on our care of creation. I had hoped it might come with Pope John Paul II... I, myself, am a Franciscan sister, and a vegetarian since 2002. Now, I am sharing your series with my community, and writing notes to facilitate same as none are native English speakers. The very fact that they are open to doing this study together is an indication of how far we have travelled!
