E-Hermes is dedicated to showing that electric vehicles are just as capable as gasoline powered vehicles to go on any travel adventure anywhere a car or truck can go and to demonstrate its advantages to camping and other outdoor activities. To do this we take our vehicles to fun but remote places in every season.

Does this camera have the option to record upon any movement around the vehicle when you are not driving it?
I have a "graduated slope" ARE Camper shell on my Lariat ER, wondering if that "wind break" will facilitate better m/kwh on towing a Casita or Teardrop trailer. thoughts? Would having a shell to create flow around the Casita have helped?
RIVI-ON? SMH
What kind of bed cover do you have on the Lightning?
The Nivion adapter I bought on Amazon feels much more durable compared to others.
As long as this adapter works effectively, safely and reliably, thats all we can ask for!
Great video, thank you sir.
I was surprised myself about the opposite order of installing and removing it.
Great video 🎉
First trip with the Lightning Pro and the 16’ Scamp. Just in state but great so far! Thank’s for sharing your travels :-)
Mi/kw? Speed?
I forgot all about this video until somebody liked my comment still, why are you yelling? Why are you so angry?
😆
Just kidding I get it. You don’t feel comfortable on camera yet.
@@d.b.cooper I’M NOT YELLING, DAMN IT!
We towed our 25’ No Boundaries trailer behind our F-150 Lightning to Rio Grande Village campground in 2023. Great trip. We camped at the Marathon Hotel and RV park going in and El Cosmico in Marta leaving.
@@chasingcoralMD it is a little scary when you are first heading down there. What if the power is off to the campground, or the pedestal at your site doesn’t work? There is really no other option for charging.
@@EHermes Agreed but with that many RV sites I was confident that at least one would work if I was desperate. We spent a few days down there (all we could get) so there was plenty of time to have them fix a bad pedestal.
Crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico was fascinating. I had no idea. New bucket list item. Keep up the good work.
@@TheGOF Highlight of the trip.
You def need a new phone screen protector 😂 I know, nosy haha
@@CarlitoswayDR I have since upgraded my phone
You passed right by my house going to the Palo Duro Canyon! We love our beautiful Canyon......need to go there more often. My wife wants a Casita too....I'll have to check out your other videos:) Safe travels!
If I would have know you were home we would have stopped in to say Hi. Love that Bar Z winery.
When am I going to get to see the new camper 😊
Episode 4 showed some of it.
I am assuming you have the extended range battery?
I do.
Just curious why you are towing with the R1s instead of F150 Lightning? Does your Rivian get better mileage towing than F150?
The Rivian has the max pack and is rated for 400 miles versus the Lightning's 320 mile rating. Mrs. E-Hermes is more comfortable in the Rivian's front seat. However, in a few weeks we are taking our granddaughter camping and we will be taking the Lightning on that trip.
How is this camera performing now that it has been over a year?
It continues to work flawlessly.
Hi, I have a 2021 Tesla Model Y Long Range. We are going to rent a Casita for about 2 weeks before deciding on purchasing our Casita. I love the Tesla Supercharging network… never has an issue with superchargers being unavailable… cheers (06/20/24)
Why are you yelling?
My wife and I bought a used 2023 Independence Deluxe last December from some wonderful folks 4 hours away. When we went down to look at it, we were sold. But my Nissan Frontier didn't have a proper hitch. We drove home. After getting the proper hitch installed, we went back down to pick up our Casita, only to discover that my Frontier also didn't have a brake controller or a 7 pin. We took it anyway. We drove 4 hours on I-55 at night in the rain with no lights for the trailer. Not one of my most shining moments! I white-knuckled it the whole way home without incident. It looks like some of us have a bit of a rocky start to our Casita life! We'll be taking our out for our 10th weekend camping trip this coming Friday! I like your improvements. I may do the same! Good luck!
For understandable liability reasons they would not let us take it from the property without working lights. All ended up well in the end.
A most excellent episode. We lived in Kansas and have spent time camping in Oklahoma, but had never heard of the Wichita Mountain NWR. Gotta add that to the list.
So cool that the bison and longhorn steers just wander around amongst you.
Life is an adventure. Glad it all worked out for you. Looking forward to the Casita video.
I like your videos especially because we're in NE Ohio and vacation in Sanibel. I am unsuccessful in talking my wife into trading in her Explorer for a R1S haha. I think viewers would like to see your charging sessions. Where you stopped, charging rate, efficiency, using the adapter, etc. Thanks and keep the videos coming!
Episode 4 seems to be MIA. I think we missed the camper pick up.
Technical difficulties with episode 4. We are working it and hope to have it out next week.
I do enjoy your adventures. You’re driving my favorite roads to the Florida panhandle. Enjoy!
I see episodes 1, 2, and 3. This shows as episode 5. Did episode 4 get uploaded?
I was wondering the same thing. Episode 4 MIA..
Technical difficulties with episode 4. We are working it and hope to have it out next week.
Why would you wanna deal with this nonsense?
Can't you use Tesla chargers now?
I can now; I couldn’t then.
Can we Collaborate on RIvian accessories about your KZread?
Sure, what do you have in mind?
Info at 7:31
The problem is that these companies know that maintaining a reliable charging network is costly. This includes setup, maintenance, and software security. Tesla did something that no other car manufacturer has done and that is establish a network with regular maintenance. These auto makers do not want to foot the bill on this so they rely on other networks which is horrible for the consumer.
Rivian=Quality
None of the adapters are “liquid cooled”
I noticed that they were being passed on the highway, a lot. Just saying 🤔
every 50 miles!!!
That is a silly take
Houston is my hometown, when I was a student at The University of Houston, one of my classmates was a tour guide at the NASA Space Center.
That would be a cool job
Thanks for taking us along nice trip
More coming but I am in remote areas now with poor internet access to upload and edit.
Awesome trip.
I like this A2Z J3400 adapter, and will likely purchase one… IF my Hyundai is ever given the authorization and software to plug in at Superchargers. Since E'loon has FIRED the Supercharger team, I am willing to wager that those plans have now been delayed -if not betrayed completely. Frankly, I'm starting to think that automakers should just decide to stick with CCS1, and the SEC needs to dictate to Tesla that they have to switch out their Superchargers to use it with with longer cables -just like happened in Europe with the CCS2. Yes, CCS plugs are more cumbersome than NACS, but they work just fine, and I opine that E'loon doesn't deserve the charging profits at this point.
This is a great video, thank you!
Thanks for the video. Receive mine today add can’t wait to test it this weekend! I’m just going to plan to carry my IR thermometer I use for grilling with me in my car to spot check the temperature of the adapter periodically.
I’ve used it often on my current trip and it has worked flawlessly every time (once I remember to slide the latch in the bottom)
Enjoying the series. Does your vehicle have any type of self-driving capability?
It has adaptive cruise control, lane reminding and lane centering on mapped highways.
Have fun!
Did you consider level 1=standard wall outlet charging at your Air B? You could have gotten some charge, while you were on bike for dinner and overnight, while sleeping. Easier on the battery. ABC=Always be charging.
It was an older building and I did not see any exterior outlets, but i generally charge wherever I can.
Yay!! Im at 27k. With my mkdel y original tires. Continental. Looks to be at 50 peecent tread. Im gonna dismount and rotate across left to right. My next rotation. If the shop lets me
Quite a trip! Enjoy the videos! Looking forward to the rest of this series!
They actually get more interesting the further we get into the adventure.
I don't mind electric stuff, i actually prefer it but not in my vehicles. I have assortment of garden/ yard tool that are battery operated including my mower. Love it but i just don't think our infrastructure is ready for EVs yet.
The infrastructure is getting better every day.
@@EHermes It may be getting better but it's still nowhere even close to being ready. The closest EV charger to me is over 100 miles away according to Google. I know you can have one at your house obviously, but still. What if my charger malfunctions during the night and doesn't charge or something and there are no chargers close to me that I can use as backup? Now I'm stuck without a vehicle. Until there is a proper infrastructure, I'll stick with gas.
