    I'm having lots of pee misses with my 5-month-old. Each time I offer, she almost always pees quite a bit, but her diaper is always wet. We do get a majority of poops though! I know toddler EC is a lot different than infant pottying. We've been mostly using the sink, but now that she's 13 lb, she's getting pretty heavy haha

    Sounds like your doing fine. Lots of learning happening there and it does take time 😊 A Top Hat potty will make EC a lot more convenient - in a month or two a mini potty like the one we sell at www.tinyundies.com will be a great fit too! 🙌

    I have read that some kids will succeed for a while with bribes but then they want a bigger bribe. Typically they want one piece of candy, then two, then three, etc in order to do what the parent wants. This would seem to be common enough that someone online once wrote a joke (some years back) about a mathematician’s son who was potty training (probably around the usual age) and he wanted one piece of candy for using the toilet, then two, then four, and then (as I recall) at least eight. I don’t remember if the joke actually mentioned sixteen or thirty-two after that but it might have.

    I don’t know why some people think that naked potty training would work. Some books and web sites promote it as a (supposedly) effective method but since there is little to no discomfort if an accident happens there is no incentive to use the potty or toilet instead of continuing with playing (for example).

    My baby is 4 months old. We use diapers but in addition each time we change the diapers we hold her over the potty to see if there is more needing to come out.. I’m wondering if that’s similar? Or is it actually the opposite.. her learning to use the potty when she is held over it vs. us holding her over it when she needs it.. is 4 months too old to try diaper free? I heard if you don’t do it from the start they loose the feeling..

    Whenever they DO signal let them eliminate and then positive reinforcement and they will eventually be completely potty trained! Ahead of schedule! They cant hold it or always signal before they go and thats okay, whenever they can they will, and u just promote that, its in their instinct to be dry theyll catch on once their body is catching on

    We having been trying to teach our daughter sign language to signal when she has to potty. But we have inadvertently reinforced her to grunt when she needs the potty 😂😂 we caught a lot of her poops because we would hear her grunting. Well now she grunts when she has to pee/poo because she knows we’ll put her on the potty. She turns 1 year old tomorrow 😊

She was fussing and I knew she had to pee... the nurses thought I was crazy but then she peed in our makeshift potty after signaling... and she was a happy baby after that. She didn't want to pee on herself!!

    It's true I heard you could actually potty train a child before their one. If you know the signs and you know your kids about to poo. You can actually start training them at a very early age which helps you get rid of diaper sooner. I am also a child care professional. 😊 I potty trained many kids around the age of one. And was trained from college about the theory of potty training them even younger. This person is doing everything correct

    Incontinence means poor control of the bladder and bowel. It affects many people after a stroke. Sometimes incontinence is caused by your brain having trouble communicating with your body. Also, you may have difficulties getting to the bathroom or taking clothes off in time. with that said i do see your point about the diaper industry but you have to acknowledge the fact that there is many including myself who has been in diapers for years that there is people who have little to no control of bladder or bowel so without a diaper we end up with pants full of poop or wet pants so that is why we are in a diaper now are diapers a harm to the planet because of paper and oil based plastic yes but so is cloth and plastic pants the solution would be to transition the paper company's to hemp as there will always be a need for diapers pads and toilet paper and tampons with hemp it wouldnt hurt our planet and our trees wouldnt be cut down at an alarming rate for apparently toilet paper even more then diapers i advocate daily for a transition for paper companys to switch to hemp

  • @AndreaOlson
    @AndreaOlsonАй бұрын

    Yes, I absolutely agree that they can be helpful in certain situations, and I do not advocate for a ban on diapers. Though this video is regarding how diapers have changed the way we parent small children - so I am not speaking at all to other circumstances in which diapers are used.

    @@AndreaOlson oh okay well im an activist that works with greens here in canada and greenpeace for better alternatives like hemp as right now we do not have diapers or any kind of paper products made from 100 percent available to buy i buy cloth products as i use both cloth and disposable here in canada there is a big talk because of the conservatives and liberals arguing over carbon tax somthing the harper govt put in place kimberley the maker of huggies depends ect is based out of usa but gets lumber to make product and had offices here in the north of canada for years theres also p&g the maker of pampers and always offices in toronto and a manufacturing plant here in canada the problem with paper products is it uses up trees that takes a long time to grow vancouver use to have alot of old growth but they were clearcut for toilet paper

    I habe thought that maybe my daughter (just turned 12 months) needed privacy and so i try to leave her alone to go on the mini potty but she climbs off and just runs around naked. I also just had baby number 2 and we have taken multiple steps back on her potty training because i believe she is pottying on the floor (when shes in underwear) any time im nursing or holding my newborn or even if me and my husband arent paying attention to her. Ive seen her grunt and strain right in front of me to force a tiny pee out... i would appreciate any advice anyone has. Right now ive just put her back in diapers and am just doing easy catches and when i see what i think is a signal (she gets jumpy and scared at every little thing, cranky level 10, or she squats, or hides most commonly... ) she also has been fighting the potty and i dont know whether i should keep her on there for a little longer or just let her back up.. when i do let her back up, we have an accident within 5 minutes most of the time. Im hoping to also get her telling me when she needs to go because she can say words now and so i talk a lot about how we're going potty when i take her to try and get the two things linked. Im hoping to get started ecing my newborn and it would be helpful to have her finished up. Maybe a pipe dream but even if we're just catching the morning pee or an occasional one.. im not goving up. Shes so close to being there that i dont want to give up but i need to get my newborn started soon! Any advice from anyone is appreciated!

    This is how it was done before diapers came into pictures. Countries that don’t have access to diapers still use ec People, marketing has normalized diapers. Yet how long ago were they invented? For evolution of humans diapers are new thing. Babies understand a lot more, and certainly not build to sit in own pee and poop. I started both my babies close to 4 months and results were amazing they both picked up fast to my surprise. I also use potty for newborns and held my babies. My first born is already 4 years old, so no spinal issues or nothing. How to do EC, observe baby how to they act before they eliminate. Do their eye brows get red, do they look away and freeze (like they are in deep thought). Babies pee often in the mornings (15-30 minute intervals) and longer stretches in the evening (40 or so min) Offer EC after every nap Even if diaper is wet after they woken up, still offer EC. Babies can still pee the remainder simply because it is hard to go potty while laying horizontally.
