My name is Peter Cheng and I'm a lawyer by profession and it was when I was at university (over 4 decades ago) that I realised that I couldn't cook anything! Not rice or even an egg!
At that point, I wished that I had paid more attention to my mum and dad cooking the dishes that I had taken for granted. I wished they had left me with some kind of instruction - a cookbook... this was well before youtube and even the internet.
And so began my culinary journey to re-learn recipes I should have already known and to master new cuisines that I could not have imagined in my childhood.
And now I have my own child and, luckily, he does love to eat (almost) everything. He is not very interested in cooking at the moment but maybe one day, he might what to re-create the dishes that he loved as a kid. If he does, I hope that this channel will be an invaluable resource for him.

Hi! This is one of my childhood favourites. Please advise when chefs say sesame oil, do they mean plain sesame oil or toasted sesame oil? I saw the colour of the sesame oil that you used was brown.
I always use toasted sesame oil.

Hi, you can certainly do the same recipe with drumsticks and thigh, as I have done. Chicken breast may be more challenging because the white meat is not as good for a long braise.

I have a question. Why just the egg white? When I make my soup, I use the whole egg, cook up a whole chicken and use that. I also don't put corn in my soup
well, then its a different recipe!

I do this soup but with shrimp 🦐 and is so tasty..i love to add a little cayenne pepper to be light spicy ❤try it guys is the best easy soup 🍜
Hi Gina...I'm planning on making this soup tomorrow, & will also use shrimp...I'm curious if you use a food processor to chop the shrimp like chef did with the chicken, & then I guess the shrimp will cook even more quickly...Thanks for your insight!☀
