I'm a fleet mechanic, and we bought 4 trucks with consecutive vins, and all 4 had their power steering pump come apart. That's how I found out they've got filters.

It's a trade off. Those automated manuals are more fuel efficient and IIRC they weigh less. But damn are those Allison Automatics reliable AF!

When I was in Tech School back in 2001, I had the only 10mm & 18mm sockets in the building. If you wanted to borrow either of them, you needed to give me your car keys.

Gvw isn't the weight it's the max amount of weight the frame and suspension can hold not including itself so for light duty it's never going to weigh that much whereas a semi will likely weigh more because tje trailer has its own axles and the truck can pull more than that

And then Allison created the 1000 for the school bus, and then GM Chevy and Ford started putting them in their 3/4 and 1 ton pickups. I've been told for year that a name Allison is one of the best in the business for big trucks, hopefully they're known the same for the light duties now as well.
