  Leasehold is NEVER preferable.

  If you don’t own the land, you don’t really own the property (freehold). Real freehold is where you own everything.

  For me that's simply one of the reasons to not going anymore to the Kingdom. On many places you are not anymore in Thailand. You are practically in Moscow or in St.Petersburg.

  Don't compare like that. All comparisons are lame. Thailand's development calls for tourism. And Vietnam calls for investment. Two different goals. Thailand's economy is in the hands of Chinese tycoons. Vietnam's economy is basically controlled by the government

  It was pretty useful bro.. Looking at my early retirement plans in a few years.. This info is helpful.. I already guessed teaching English or working online would be likely viable options..   Southeast Asians should be united in disallowing land ownership for foreigners. As much as possible there should be laws that expats and all non-citizens should only be living in condominiums only.
