Welcome to my Channel. There is going to all kinds of everything on here. Carpentry, plumbing, window & door repair, reviews and tips and tricks that I've learned over the years.
I started out working with my dad in his window and door fitting business. I went on to college and completed a degree in Building Services Engineering and worked as a engineer for a few years. When I got sick of travelling I went back working with my dad. This time repairing windows and doors. It was through repairing windows and doors that I went on to train to be a locksmith.

Exactly how I would do the job, thumbs up from me.
Had these fitted by window people and now the side where the restrictor is, is not allowing the window to seal on the side of the restrictor.
Why can’t you pilot hole from one side to the other??????
Go for it if you're 100% certain you're going to drill it straight. And 100% certain there isn't something in the centre of the window profile that's going to send the drill bit off course. You might be lucky and not hit anything with a small drill bit, but a big drill bit it is so easy for it to go off course.
Do you have any tips for maintaining or restoring old PVC windows? I just bought a house with old windows, but I won't be able to replace them for a while. Anything I can do to refresh their appearance or function so I can get a few more years from them?
oh lord, i probably not gonna remember this at first, but when that btch starts to give me problems i pray to the gods that this is going to pop in my mind, so easy yet so useful
The first 3.50 are a waste of time.
It's not a waste if you don't know how a rivet actually works. Tik tok has people ruined 🙄 If you're looking for 10 second shit hacks of disembodied hands pointing at things and wagging fingers, you've come to the wrong channel
@@PaddysDiy you nailed it
This is an excellent bit of knowledge. game changer. Thanks, bro.
Thanks for the comment 👍
5:51 Just looking at this, why not just take the bottom seal off like your doing now and proceed from there as the paint scraper is protecting the glazing whilst drilling?. What was the point of taking away all the seals and glazing beads and replacing them straight away and then putting the handle on with the glazing window in place?. Even though you are advocating to change the handle with the glazing off you are doing it with the glazing in as I can see the reflection. Im just a but puggled. I have an aluminum kitchen top window just like this only 3 times the size with the same rivits. You wouldnt be up in North Dublin at any point or know anyone in Dublin that could come out and do this?.
It just to show that's how you would remove the glass or doubke glazing to change the handle. In some windows the space left is too small to remove the rivets without breaking the glass. But the window in this video is wide enough that it can be done without fear of breaking the glass. But for someone that doesn't have experience i would recommend removing the glass or doubke glazing. I don't go near dublin I'm afraid. Andy in the window repair company is located in north dublin.
@@PaddysDiy Ah I get you. And thanks for the reccomendation re Andy. Cheers Paddy
Good on you showing. Ive always had a hassle. I usually cut the flange with a sharp chisel. Then knock the nub through. Some nubs just wont budge. The sides are too compressed. Your method i like. Thanks for sharing.
It saves so much time. It's a great tip
Where is the trick ?
It's fairly clear if you watch the video
@@jpcaretta8847 jerks trying to be funny Paddy.

Thank you kindly 😊
This problem will continue everywhere until the greedy manufacturers stop making them to fail, forcing you to buy new. The cause is obvious. The failures are on the hot sunny sides of the house. The units are made in a comfortable working temperature factory. When in the hot sun, the air expansion is massive, and will eventually blow out a weak spot in the glue. Then at night, there is a vacuum created and cold damp air is sucked in. After many repeats, the moisture condenses on the glass. There are two ways they can prevent this. One, is to glue the unit together in a hot chamber, so that later on, the unit is mostly under slight vacuum, pulling the glue together, rather than forcing it apart. The hot sun cannot create such a high pressure anymore. The other way is to put a tiny one-way check valve in the spacer, so that the first time the sun raises the temp and pressure, the valve releases the pressure, and from then on, most of the time there will be a slight vacuum, as described above.
You have given me hope. 💪🏾
Thank you so much! The hair clip advice worked!
Hi I've made a contribution which I pray please God will encourage each viewer to do the same . Best wishes with your ongoing philanthropy endeavours no one should be with the basics in life. Please keep up the good work ❤
Is there a way to remove the center rotating mechanism? Mine broke and there is no replacement part so I found the same part but shorter. Was thinking of ripping out the center rotating piece and change them
No I'm afraid not. They're nearly all welded or riveted to the strip
@@PaddysDiy thats sad to hear, Im looking for a replacement for my 1700x2200 but the same brand does not exist. I looked at the spec sheets of a different brands same size and it looks similar. Will try to use that one instead
Excellent, got my conservatory window lock unjammed and fully functional again. Thank you sir

Please also do an ALDI tool review sometime!
No problem 👍
Thanks for the review, very useful.
Used a steel scraper and worked straight away. Brilliant video, thanks Paddy!
Excellent 👍 well done
Never seen this in Lidl but looks a decent bit of kit especially if you buy the 4Ah battery setup
Super surprised by how good it is. 4 ah battery was €40. I'm buying more batteries and another riveter for my second van
Thanks, really helpful. Got the handle off our widow then tried pulling rubber strip out as shown. Was struggling to get any purchase on rubber strip without damaging window frame. I then put screwdriver in hole where the barrel on the latch mechanism goes and turned. After a few goes the window opened! We now have fresh air coming in our bathroom in the current hot spell - it’s been like an oven in there recently!
Check out the handle and espag to see which one is broken
OK great, thanks - will do 👍
My window has been locked in place for a year. I used a butter knife and it worked straight away!!!
Music to my ears 👍 well done
Brilliant, thank you
Glad it helped 👍
Didn’t work for me unfortunately but I just broke the barrel with a flat head by twisting really hard and they came undone thanks for the help anyway
Sounds like you have a deadlocking type handle. Won't work on this type of handle lock. You got it open, that's the main thing
You are Pure Genuis Paddy.A million thanks. The hair slide worked a treat.Unable to open window for 3 years!!!!
Excellent 👍 well done
Thank you so very much - brilliant. Best wishes, Mike

I just want to say a massive thank you Paddy. My window has been stuck shut for months I thought the handle would have to be replaced. It’s getting really hot we’re in living and I just needed it open. Found your video and bomb it’s open. Thank you so much for the help 🤘
Music to my ears 👍
Thanks you been great help. For some reason widow got locked up and was not opening in this hoottt weather and saw your video and did exactly how you showed in few seconds it got open. Thanks again
Excellent 👍
You're a life saver!
Thank you 😊
Brilliant cheers, something just clicked this morning, the handle was jammed with the window closed. All went ok paper clip method, just need a new handle now. The window is so small anyway, nobody could ever get in.
Thank you kindly 😊 glad it helped
Thanks
Thank you, this worked a treat!
Hey, great video and i want to give this a go myself. Mine has just broke and its a Mila gr 119. I cant seem to find anything that would be a suitable replacement, are you able to help to see what would be suitable? My current mila has 4 mushroom cams, 20mm backset and a 16mm wide flat rail. Thanks in advance
All the odd size gr's are made for munster joinery. Gr 75, gr95, gr105 etc. They're the only place you'll get them I'm afraid
Wow I was been trying to open my window for so long after this video I just work 😂
Excellent 👍 glad it helped
Thank you so much, this worked a treat for me!
Glad it helped 👍
Thanks
Thank you kindly 😊
Hair clip worked perfectly!
Looks like you've put it on the wrong way mate.. the screws should have been put on the inside
I agree with you. They should have the screws on the inside, but that's the way the instructions say it goes. Also the 4 way lock is on the inside, and that is always on the inside
And what about rivet removal
Stay tuned i have a video on rivet removal coming shortly
Amazing video safety
