Nice job mate! No bull, just a "get it done" functional project and video! Look forward to seeing the test fingers crossed it works! If it cracks I'm sure you can just add different clay outside.. (might even double up as a tandoor oven!?) In fact, a just a grate with flat stone/granite laid on top over the top of the chimney part (just under that dome top) could double up nicely as a pizza over! Think you've inspired me to build one myself! Cheers from London 👍🏻🏴🇬🇧
Awesome! The test video will be out soon 😁
@@netekv cool, look forward to it mate
Awesome video! I have been wanting to make cutting boards and this motivated me to give it a shot. Thank you for sharing.
@@holisticheritagehomestead pleasure and good luck with your cutting board
what oils do you use for this project?? and what kind of oil is the technical oil??
Technical oil, aka mineral oil
@@netekv thanks!!
I like these thanks 😊
Great idea Viktor, but why didn’t you show us the complete finished product , in its place, at the end of the video?
Good question 🤔 it's in the thumbnail pic 😅
What angle are the triangle pieces?
Unfortunately, I can't remember. My guess is 30° Good luck with your build
Great video. Very informative. Btw.. where can I buy those wheels?
Thanks. If you are based in South Africa, you can buy them at Gelmar. Otherwise, google caster wheels. Good luck 👍
Does the bark have to be treated also? Or will it be fine just by drying it out? Im just wondering about durability over uses
You can oil the bark, but most if not, all of it will come off over time. So you can remove it before if you don't want bits of bark coming off once in a while
Realistic ❤
This is chaotic but I love it lol
Do we have to season wood before cutting?
I didn't season it, I let it dry while in use and oiled it often, especially after use and after washing with water
Dude, this was perf! Thank you!
Thanks 😃
What kind of saw are you using?
Jigsaw
I have a large Blackwood stump just waiting for me. Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers from Australia :)
That sounds exciting! Good luck with your project 😃
You have a more detailed video on building the raise bed?
Nope, this is the video
What is the name of oil that you apply?
Mineral oil
Nice videography
Thanks
How can you use a board w a hold in it??. Things can accumulate in them.
they have electric hand planes for the hobbiest.then belt sand it.I'm still looking for a foodsafe oil to prevent cracking i have a downed ash tree over 100 years old wanted to cut boards nice grain.
Hello. Very cool project.!!! What kind of oil is that you used?
Thanks! It's mineral oil
Which country ? No winter ?
South Africa. We do have winter but not a freezing cold winter
Sanding while on the phone is such a vibe
😅
wow so beautiful! did the bowls crack at some point?
Thanks, no, they did not crack.
How long do you need to air dry the wood before making it into a cutting board?
It depends on multiple factors. The best is to check with a moisture meter, but I didn't do that. I just went ahead and oiled it often and let it dry out while using it.. hope that helps
Excellent video! I'm just up the road in Johannesburg. Can you recommend a place to get the pallets?
Thanks man, unfortunately I don't have a specific spot to get them. You can get them for free if you ask around in industrial areas/bulk dispatch wherehouses or search on the FB marketplace for pallet wood for sale near you
Will cooking oil work? Are those the only steps needed to preserve the wood?
Cooking oil is not ideal because it can go rancid. That is the only step I took to preserve it, and it's still as good as the day I made it.
@@netekv = thanks for replying Sir.
Which oil he used Mustard oil will work or not??
I have never heard of mustard oil. I don't think it will work. I think it will go rancid and stink after a while.
Looks great! Can one use a cut from a pine tree?
Yes you can but you need to dry it very slowly
@@netekvwhat about tamarind wood
I have never heard of that wood, but I would try it and see if it works out. I would also dry it as slowly as possible.
U enjoy it...thank you
Thanks
Good to see him wearing his safety sandals.
Safety sandals for the win 😅
Gb
That'll pretty cool!
Thanks
i cant believe you still have all your fingers
Love this! Super simple!! Thank you for sharing
Thanks
interesting
Thanks
Brur!! Love your channel, u from SA? I definitely learnt a thing or 2 from you... will be doing same design with my cheap saw aswell #sawstop danko!!
Yip from SA 😁 thanks and good luck with your project!
I love this so simple I skipped like 4 before this bc they started with pull out all the nails and use 2 different types of saws 🪚 🤦🏽♀️
this is adorable lol I'm hooked.
Short and simple! Yes 🙌
10000 finish nails later
How do I keep the bark on one of these cutting boards?
Wholey crap!! I wish I had a nail gun and a few thousand nails to just waste on crap wood.
Best of luck getting a nail gun and some crap wood then! 🤣 oh don't forget a few thousand nails either 😅
How thick
About 5cm or 2 inches
Could you please clarify what exactly you did so the wire left a trace mark on the stump?
I used a chalk line. It's string covered in powdered chalk. I think it would be easiest to Google how to use a chalk line.
Thanks for the great ideas!
😀
That would be a planter box not a raised bed, raised beds don't have bottoms waste of materials.
What would the world do without such wise words? Probably ignore them 😜 thanks for your comment 😁
Have a lot a jacaranda cuts stacked down the side. Been informed it's my duty to attend to them at some point. With this video it will be easy to achieve an outstanding finish, many thanks 💪⭐
Jacaranda is beautiful good luck 😁
Assuming you've been using this saw for a while now - is it decent? Been thinking of grabbing one, I like that it has space for a router as well.
Yeah its not bad. I've had it for years but also haven't really compared it to anything else 🙃
It’s beautiful and simple. Do you sell them?
Unfortunately not at the moment
If you ever do sell - please let us know. Can’t find any hair forks or moons in SA.
Will do but probably won't make them again as it took quite a lot of time and would make them unreasonably pricey due to the time involved
I would add a riving knife to this - essential to keep safe.
Good idea!
Helps if you use tape measure!! Instead of hammer!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
