I had this problem as well, called out an engineer. He immediately diagnosed a split lower rotating arm, the big grey plastic arm the smaller green arm spins on. The split was spraying water sideways, directly at the seals causing them to leak. It was such a narrow slot along the join between the upper and lower arm moldings and wasn't noticeable at a quick glance. He took the front lower panel off and drained the pooled water off with a towel, which cleared the Aquastop. Must be a common fault because he had brought the part along with him and it was the first thing he looked at. I've got to laugh, I'm having all the same problems with my SMEG dishwasher as you! I think the next time the small green arm goes, I'll replace the lower grey arm at the same time. That is, if the dishwasher lasts another 5 years!

Take the bottom arm out, just pulls out. Then the spinning arm screws into the nut in the arm. Don’t bang it. It’s easy once you realise that the arm has a screw connection.

There was smoke filling the drum & pouring out of mine last night. The smoke & smell of toxic burning filled the house & ruined the clothes, we had to unplug it and leave it out on the patio.

It is the capacitor for the motor, you need to use a 7 micro farad capacitor, its not easy if you have not tried it but my advice is to call a candy engineer or get it insured and then call them out if you feel the call out fees is high and then you can pay as small installments

You can easily replace the capacitor by removing the fan cover bottom l right hand side . Then twist the fan cowling ,remove the fan and access the 13 mm nut on the capacitor. Reach in remove the 2 wires on the capacitor and reverse the process 10 minute job . 30 years time served whitegoods engineer
