Hi all! I'm Danni. I love to read and chat about books. My main genres are fantasy and sci fi, however I have recently been enjoying horror and mysteries so anything is possible.
I'm down to start Pale this weekend! I should be home Thursday. 🤗

That's a great mix of books and fun buddy reads. A Short Walk Through a Wide World looks very interesting, and Dreadful sounds like a great premise but the humour could go either way. I really liked The Book of Doors - exceptional plotting to link all the time travel aspects together and loads of great ideas. When the other books are brought in, I thought there was enough material for a 3 book series, and doing so might have given more time to add depth to the characters, but it was a very enjoyable read nonetheless. The Last Murder at the End of the World was another good one but not quite Evelyn Hardcastle level. There's a fair bit of laying out the 'rules' at the start, but the mystery is very good, the idea is original and I liked the different characters. I hope you enjoy them all and have a great month. I'm lokking forward to Strange the Dreamer (fantasy), In the Blink of an Eye (mystery-thriller) and The Nightingale (historical).

Great to see a bit of standard deviation on booktube! I really enjoyed the discussion. I bet it's exciting to pick books for others, though quite difficult and stressful at the same time, but it looks like everybody had a lot of fun. Well done on putting it all together, Danni. Hopefully, I can catch up with a few more vlogs and watch the live show as it happens next time.

I can't call a winner as books recs can sometimes come down to mood, reading the right book at the right time, but I love the amount of research and stalking the contestants are doing to get an edge. Good luck to all! I'm sure everybody will get something great to read.

I'm catching up on vids as I've had a lot on recently. Really interesting to hear your thoughts on The Wickwire Watch. I heard good things from early reviews (though I'm often a bit suspicious of them) and then some mixed opinions. You've sold me on it, so I've just got it on kindle for 99p. The next two books are also the same price, if they have them on Amazon US. I agree with everything you said about Warbreaker. I liked the romance between between the two characters, but agree his romance can be a bit simplistic and lack a touch of finesse. Lightsong's dad joke humour was also a bit much. As you said, the plot, magic and worldbuilding were great, and I enjoyed the path the characters took. It also gave it 4*. I like how you see the positives in the books recommended - you either get a book you like or learn something about what you don't like, which is also helpful. - Spoilers for Warbreaker and Stormlight Archive - I think there are 2 characters from Warbreaker in Stormlight. Vasher is Zahel, the swordmaster, and Vivenna is Azure, Highmarshal of the Wall Guard. Nightblood is Sword-Nimi, the sword that Szeth uses.

Fantasticland sounds so good! I have added to my tbr. I agree with Romance.. my favourite ones are always something that has something that is experienced in real life, or are funny. No romance is ever as straight forward or fits the pattern that a certain group of romances does. It's not that I hate the fluffy ones, it's more that it takes me out of the story when it doesn't feel real to some degree and then I get annoyed. My recent 5 star predictions have mostly been spot on (Evocation, and The Way of Kings). One was a complete and epic fail for me though... Ocean's Echo ended up a 2 star for me. I loved the first book so much that I was sure the second book would be as good.
