    Awesome mate. I've got the Sierra 6 2-12 on a .243. I actually think I've just put 2 & 2 together and realise it may be you I've spoken to on the phone at your work about the potential issue I've had with it... You from Wanga's? I absolutely love the BDX too. Have just recently gone back to the setup stage to make sure all data is correct, that everything is paired properly and angle compensation settings are correct, and will test it out in the next week on a deer. I've shot half a dozen with 1 shot each over the last couple months, (out to around 400y with 1 of them), just using it as a normal scope. So pretty sure I'll know its still off without having to trust it. Same hunting spot, similar distance... There's a slight chance it wasn't in ABU mode when I had drama with it, and it was a 260y downhill shot and went quite high, so I need to confirm from that perspective. I'm still pretty sure the "cant" sensor is off though, since with the crosshairs lined up on a vertical object, the scope is telling me I'm off by maybe as much as 10 degrees. Have been intending to test it with a bubble level. Think I might go do that now... Really keen on them Waypoint rifles too, but with my current .243 doing so well, I can't seem to justify the spend, no matter how hard I try! 😅 What cal is yours?

  • @SuperLooseunit
    @SuperLooseunit6 ай бұрын

    Yup . I'm in wanganui . The Sierra6 is a good unit and only problems I've seen is generally data input errors .

  • @MrTimmytimmytimtim
    @MrTimmytimmytimtim5 ай бұрын

    Shot a deer at 410y a few days ago, and BDX seemed to be working fine. Either I previously had wrong load data active, or I didn't have it on ABU mode. Still quite certain the "cant" sensor is off though, but thats not too important for the ranges I'm shooting with .243. @@SuperLooseunit

    I've just stumbled onto your channel mate, so I'm a bit behind, but you've hit the nail on the head with all your statements here... I'm a hunter also, and like a good honest hunting vid when I'm parked up on the couch at home. The biggest let down is a vid with a picturesque thumbnail that gets your hopes up that its going to be a good hunt vid, and it ends up being a talking vid. I'm with you on the music issue too. Nothing wrong with some gentle music as an intro or to emphasise some great panoramic scenery or the like, but its got to be appropriate and tasteful, and like you say, volume neutral to the rest of the clip. So far I like your content. It's honest and real, and has all the right bits. You're already doing good, but theres always room to improve with camera and editing skills improving with time... Keep it up mate, I'm watching ;)

    A man by the name of Sid Stent used to live on Te Parapara Rd, I think near the intersection with Ruahine & Rangiwahia Rd's, with his family who are some of the old school "Rangian's". I'm not sure of the year, but some time shortly after WW2, they were woken up in the middle of the night by a frantic knocking at their door... It was a hunter who had been in the hills with two mates, when one of the other two had had a major heart attack and most probably died. One stayed with him, and the other had come out to find help, and ended up on Sid Stents doorstep. Sid asked him a few questions like how did you get to where you were, where do you think you were, what was the bush like, were you below the leatherleaf, etc, etc... Legend has it that Sid stepped into the bush swinging a slasher with one hand, and before the sun came up, he made it right to where the dead man was, with his other mate alive... And thus, "Dead Mans" got its name...

    Good video, agree with your pack comments and being prepared on meat quality/hygiene. But do you always leave the fillets behind along with meat on front quarters?

  • @SuperLooseunit
    @SuperLooseunit11 ай бұрын

    Dont often take the fillets myself . Front shoulders l do if they aren't too damaged with the shot , close shots l loke to go though the ribs and lungs but tend to take shoulder shots longer out to reduce distance tracking .

    What ever one does not take into account is the 10s & 10s "maybe hundreds" of times it does save a person because no one reports or speaks of the many time that orange or blue alerts other hunters to there presents far quicker than a dull colour moving thru the bush,, ive met the odd hunter in the bush & the first thing they say is, "hi hell you were easy to see" The colour we ware while hunting has nothing to do with it,!! it is 100% the shooters fault for failing to identify there target...Cheers woody woodsman out,, 😊
