Love the Enve as a decent all around bike but there is no way that bike is better than the Gen 4 Domane !! Down tube storage bigger tire clearance and way better paint jobs especially the project ones !!
Gorgeous bike.
I can believe that. My wife likes riding her Orbea Oiz for gravel. It’s a very fast and one of the best climbing XC bikes. What she loves about full suspension is the added traction - no question. These very very fast XC race bikes can be very capable and comfortable gravel bikes.
Sl8 so much nicer looking, trek isnt bad but its trying too hard for attention, that approach ends up ugly in time
Cool review
Mog wins always. If the mtb setup was faster even over 200 miles, then I’d think pros would be using the setup for Unbound. Maybe midpackers like me will use front suspension just so I’m more comfortable but don’t think it’s faster (yet). Possibly setups like cane creek invert are getting closer
May I ask how tall you are? And the frame is size 54? And how long stem? Would you have chosen differently, or is it "perfect"? I really enjoy your content:D
I’m a wide boy
Nice! How‘s about the weight?
I like your reviews. Thanks. Keep up the great work.
Frame storage is great for bear spray 😜
Top Fuel Gen 4 vs Trail 429. Which is more fun? I'm planning on you guys doing a build for me one day so I'm doing research 😉
Dude.. this video shows y’all faces more than the bikes t.. WTH
Do your shops do bike fits?
I would love to watch your Enve MOG review. In case you ever plan to release one
I have Melee and for seatpost I found after you torque to 6nm, you pull the seatpost to the handlebar side. It will relieve tension in wedge and you can torque to 6nm again. ENVE used to spec it 8nm max but had issue with seatpost so updated the wedge and lowered to max 6nm (I think this is the reason why Fray release was delayed for a year). Still it under-torque if you don't to the tension relieve mentioned above. Also, use Parktool SAC-2 ish carbon paste (small grit). Other brand like Finishline's (big grit) doesn't work well with Melee seatpost/frame interface.
I had issues with my melee seatpost too, at/near the 8.5 nM torque, and it still would slip. Now the seatpost paint is flaking off above the clamp line, and there’s a pending warranty claim. Other than that, love the bike.
@@OnThePeriphery Got redesigned seatpost wedge has 6nm written? Well try above method I weigh over 110kg but it works.
I want a road bike like this, but I have no $. Pogi won the Tour riding upright and with wide tires. For most of us endurance geo is better. Of course, everyone has his or her fit.
Best gravel race bike? Fray or Mog?
it depends! Unbound = MOG, Belgian Waffle = Fray. really depends on terrain. one bike to do it all it's hard to beat the Fray
a very easy and safe fix for sliding seat posts is to make a thin, light, carbon seat post clamp that clamps above the clamping area, so that the bottom edge of the camp would stop against the top of the clamping area keeping it from sliding down. making it 2inches long will be more than enough friction to keep it very secure and just one integrated nut and bolt. it would look similar to the custom number tag holders some pro's use. using that in conjunction with the crappy post camp they have will be more than sufficiently redundant. another way is adding length to the seat post to bottom it out inside the frame as an internal stopper, but i could see problems engineering one, and its not adjustable like the external clamp design.
fenders can make any bike faster, there isnt really any down side to fender mounts
Enve needs to be able to make handlebars! 😖 one piece AR nowhere to be found, one piece aero haven’t even been released unless your name is Tadej!
I think it’s because they make them in Utah.
@@bicyclestation so are they giving priority to wheelsets? the SES wheelsets are also made in Utah, but you might be correct in the sense they haven't got their handlebar production up to speed or weren't expecting the market to apparently be larger than what they predicted for a 1k2 one piece stem/bar
Are you going to make a Enve Fray build video? I am in the market for a Fray or Melee. It can’t decide.
Fray! I’d not buy a Melee right now, feels like it will be redesigned for next year!
Is the Fray even more comfortable and still fun to ride?
I have a Fray and love it, running on 34s super comfortable!
So, so blingy
Melee for the win 👌🏻
Considering your building experience - in short travel trail bikes : What bike would be the best platform to take advantage of Flight Attendent (Trail) ? As in is there any platform that Flight Attendent would totally transform into a whole different performance/riding experience?
I think any bike. Specialized specifically is a good candidate due to the low anti squat. Any bike that’s got a squishy rear end. But seriously I think it’s worthwhile on any bike.
Mondos ❤❤❤
How do you guys afford to own and race on all the madone's, sl8s, and melees??
We sell the bikes after we make the videos. The shop has a rolling KZread budget for making these videos. It translates to sales that make more than the cost of one bike. And then since we’re getting most of our money back out of these bikes it’s usually a negligible cost in production. The channel has like 2 million views lifetime, totally worth the costs. It’s been a really fun thing to work on.
@@bicyclestationawesome!
Gran Bici💜
Any update on 400mm long Melee seatpost?
Is this similar to a soloist?
I own a Melee, but tested many other bikes first, including the Cervelo Soloist. Both bikes are fun, but I found the Melee to be much more comfortable and compliant over pavement, while the Soloist -seemed- stiffer, transferring more vibration to contact points. I also wasn’t a fan of how Cervelo handled/designed the cable integration in the front end. My $.02.
@@OnThePeriphery Cable management w/ Soloist was a deterrent to me too.
Check out the new Canyon Aeroad with adjustable handle bars. Looks neat to me
I really think your channel is amazing, BUT PLEASE SHOW THE BIKE MORE WHEN YOU’RE TALKING.
Haha I tried to. I didn’t want the whole video to just be stills of the bike.
can you do zht-5 build pls
I’m trying to. We can’t get our hands on a frame. Cervelo is trying to get us one but I think it’s a long shot.
So the SLR 9 is under 16. The SLR 7 is claimed to be little over 16 and yet weighs about 17.3??
We think it depends on what paint job you get
is it the ST31 stem?
Doesn't trek do a 30 day return policy, and if you buy through a dealership and the size isn't right the dealer should be able to swap out the part without charging more. That is what my bike shop does at least.
I know we don’t take returns on any bike unless it’s a special circumstance. I’m also unsure if trek takes returns on project one bikes. But your correct otherwise
If you could build a flight Attendent trail bike and could only choose the Trail 429 or Gen 4 Top Fuel - both 120/130 fork. Which would you choose?
Top fuel. The 429s dw link kinda makes having flight attendant less of a need in my eyes
She's babe but won't be comfortable when she comes off bumps she'll hurt in your motor. 😂
🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴✌️✌️✌️❤️
Actually some pro riders are running bigger rotors on the rear, to disipate heat better from brake dragging.
Just stumbled upon your channel, being new to mountain bikes here in Indiana. What do you recommend as far as travel size for the trails here. You think the new stump jumper that just came Out is over kill, or go with an epic. I’m not racing and not really big on huge jumps just want a bike that will kinda do it all
I highly recommend the new epic 8 or the new chisel full suspension. Both can be bought at any budget and will be perfect for any trails we have / also travel well into more mountainous regions. The BC40 is an enthusiast level purchase. If you’re wanting to jump into a higher end bike off the bat I highly recommend it. Send me an email at [email protected] if you have more questions about your purchase decision.
Wide boy. 52 on my Niner rlt9 steel.
the extra cranks sounds reasonable for delay the outbound probably tried to get the parcel back to reclaim the cranksets. . . maybe worth reaching out to 3T but you don't have to do their job for them.
We sent them back haha
@@bicyclestation worked with Amazon and one of our staff send the new ipads to a custom so instead of 1 that they ordered the box they received had 10 haha, no expectation to return it but yeah they train that now so we learn. Bike looks rad!
I think the madone is the best looking road bike out there. So fucking sexy😏
I am not concerned about which bike is faster, as the difference is only a matter of seconds. Ultimately, I prefer the Madone because it looks better, thanks to its more aerodynamic frame.
what road is this!!
where the dirt at ?
I have also done mtb to gravel conversion and i needed fast forward seattube because otherwise it would really hurt to ride. So you might also want one of those.
my giant revolt came with 46mm bars, i changed them for 44's
