    I've also been in the boat of wanting all bikes to have Transmission so I'm happy to see more of them. I think a perfect bike for me would be this frame with the frame storage and bespoke bag solution featured in the Canyon Grail.

    The schwalbe tires are meant to have the rear tire reversed to create additional traction. Not sure how much of a difference it makes as I only rode them as instructed when I had a pair, but I know that when they were raced at Unbound in 2022 none of the pros using them reversed the tire

    I just can’t bring myself to buy a gravel bike with integrated cables. I don’t know if the dirt around me is extra talc but even with me servicing the headset bearings multiple times a summer I end up trashing one set a season. That currently costs me $14 and takes 10 minutes.

  • @bicyclestation

    You’re right the lowers are the problem. Unless I’m missing something though, there’s not enough slack in the system to drop the fork enough to get the lower bearing out right?

  • @bicyclestation

    @bicyclestation

    2 ай бұрын

    That’s a good point. I purposefully left the hoses long to aid with this type of thing. A long as you can pull the stem off the fork dropping out shouldn’t be an issue. You can unbolt the break caliper off the fork to give it even more slack to work with also. I know because I slammed mine it wouldn’t be an issue. Still not as easy lol

    I have another question 😀 I’m all Shimano now but I’m looking to switch to SRAM. I thought T47 was the way forward but after watching your video I’m not sure? I’ve always been hesitant to get into a BB86 frame if I’m planning to go SRAM because it doesn’t seem ideal for larger spindles. What do you think the best BB standard is for SRAM dub cranks?

  • @bicyclestation

    @bicyclestation

    2 ай бұрын

    BSA T47 is cool because it’s threaded and it helps frame designers fit more in the space. But yea when you go to remove it I’ve seen a lot of em get stuck in there frame. Its functionally better then pressfit but I think harder to work on.

    The bottom bracket is ridiculus. Instead of simply using a BSA thread they decided to go with this goofy T47 with almost no flange so it's near impossible to install the bottom bracket on your brand new frame without scratching it. It's like the Cervelo guys were thinking "we definitely need an elephant in the room so let's do something funky with the bottom bracket - people always love bb experiments". Otherwise this bike looks very well thought out and nicely executed (like the face milling of the flat mount after the painting process). Small minus for me: there is no storage solution in the downtube.

  • @bicyclestation

    @bicyclestation

    2 ай бұрын

    At least half the bb is external lol. Trek and enve its both sides. I’d say that the downtube storage is a downside for a lot of people. But then they include the bag with the bike. I think including the bag cancels that out.

    @@bicyclestation Checked some T47 installation videos. It looks like there are some special nylon plastic sockets for those super tiny flanges which have a very tight fit and prevent scratches on the frame (kzread.info/dash/bejne/e41n2caSe5uecto.htmlsi=Ttryf4DK_urWLQmr).

  • @bicyclestation

    @bicyclestation

    2 ай бұрын

    They send that out with the bb. The issue is that there’s not enough flang to remove it. If the bb is at all dirty or stuck it’s almost impossible to remove without damaging it

    Yea lauf is being super aggressive with their pricing. Looks like that bike is currently 3000$ for the cheapest one. It’s interesting that the frame is still only 600$ less for the ridged fork option. They are giving the parts away for free basically. Cervelos not selling direct so the price difference makes sense.

    @@bicyclestation Lauf is offering amazing spec builds for the price, even better spec and price than Canyon with their direct to consumer. I recently bought a Seigla Transmission Race which has SRAM Force shifters/brakes and a Force 40T chainring mated to Transmission X0 T-Type RD and X0 10-52T cassette, just like you like! The bike has clearance for 700x2.25" tires and comes with Maxxis 45mm Ramblers on e*13 Piedmont Race Carbon wheels. I immediately put 700x2.1" Schwalbe Thunder Burts on it, just like you did with the MOG. All this spec, including the Grit 30mm fork for just $4790! Bonus is that they have their US Headquarters in Virginia, so I got mine in 3 business days...incredible.
