My first morning of my first time in Japan, I had to get new headphones, and so I went to the Yodobashi in Kyoto. It was blazing hot out and I was seriously jet-lagged and tired from biking halfway across town, and not really in my right mind when I opened the doors to the store and was greeted blinding fluorescents, freezing AC, and a children's chorus singing this over the loudspeaker. It was rather jarring.

Ok now there needs to be a Valkyria Chronicles/Fire Emblem type game with all anime girls fighting the Civil War. Generals Alicia S. Grant vs Robin Elizabeth Lee.

I am a millennial man, born long, long after the 2nd great war, and I find it fascinating and perplexing that Japan is so stalwart an ally to us as they are. The nuke is nothing to take lightly. The USA committed a truly dastardly act of war, and though politically it is seen as the act which prevented a much more costly war, the fact remains that men in airplanes released the most devastating weapon ever manufactured on whole cities, TWICE. I believe Japan has insight to offer America on one key factor, to never succumb to hubris. Lest we Americans forget the costly lesson of the past, we better watch our step and associate caution with our mantra. Japan, steeped in hubris, managed to learn this lesson before it was too late. America had better do the same. I enjoyed the rendition of the song. Masterful! Bravo!
