We used LR 1T GS with winch for our fitter truck and it with other variants would deploy out the back of a C130 rigged on a platform with parachutes attached. We would then deploy from a C130 also onto a DZ. Lots of problems solved on these versatile rugged rough and ready bits of kit with a lot of ingenuity, versatility and mechanical knowledge keeping them rolling and not always road legal but fit for mission. Your footage looks like part of Salisbury Plain a military training area. Drove back from training area once with me lay flat across top of gearbox and engine with a kip mat between me and engine operating the carbs by hand whilst driver did everything else as throttle cable snapped . Hello again, any update on how you are getting on with the bike? I have one lined up for me now and would like to know your mileage and thoughts. Thanks Nick.
@Longstride Жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, I’ve done about 3000+ miles on it now across UK roads and France, some very very light offroad on woodland tracks and byeways. All on standard stock tyres. Bike is like a Swiss Army knife, it’ll do anything, but there are better options if you’re going to do just one style of riding. For example for big road tours, get a Goldwing or a GS, for off road get a proper dual sport. But if you want a bike that’ll do both, and be more than OK, this is it. Or if you want a bike that’s light, capable, handles well, and packs a punch, the Norden is great. I love mine, but the stock screen is crap for wind deflection, the stock seat is amazingly comfortable for touring, the stock tyres grip brilliantly on tarmac, even in wet, but aren’t as good offroad (obviously), the engine is not torquey at low end and low revs, it’s awkward and a bit choppy, but slip the clutch and/or keep the revs higher and the engine is fab with loads of control and power. Hope that helps a bit.

It’s an improvement for sure. But it’s not windless by any stretch. However I’ve done some big mile trips in France on it and gotten used to the amount if wind now. It’s not awful but it’s far from a GS or goldwing level of comfort 😜
@nickpaull23622 жыл бұрын
If you cut the fold over the hand guard you will weaken the hand guard. However, if you get a piece of aluminium and use it as a spacer on the inside then bolt the mirrors on the inside(bolt heads on the outside) it will work. You can also buy some black anodised bolts so they don't stand out

I agree I didn't want a rattly engine like most of the parallel twins. I didn't want a peaky engine I wanted low-end grunt. So I ended up with the v85tt and I'm glad I did no chain the weight difference to the 901 is negligible so there you have it. Ofcourse I use the UPMAP
I really liked the look of the v85TT it looks cool! What’s it like?
I have 50 plus years of making a living with motorcycles and Aviation and this is probably one of the nicest bikes I've ever owned.Easy to maintain, fun a ride especially after the mods I've done to it, exhaust, UPMAP etc.
*Thanks 'Longstride' Very informative video.Thanks. Pronouncing HUSKVARNA (that's the name of the town in Sweden where the Husqvarna brand was born in the 1689. Remember it's pronounced "HUUS- KVAR-NA" Just subdivide! PLEASE DO NOT PRONOUNCE IT LIKE THE IGNORANT NoCo Moto American podcast dudes. "HUSA-QVARNA" - "HUSA!" What the FUCK? I't like me pronouncing their esteemed Harley-Davidson as "HURLEY-HAVIDSON"!!! Best regards from Thailand (Not TAIWAN!)* kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6qK0dWHYay7lco.html
Nice review! I didn't even Know that Husqvarna was still making motorcycles.
Ha ha me too! I thought they only did chainsaws! 🤣
Amazing review man I really appreciate your thoughts and time! My brother is looking to get one soon. Can’t wait! Keep up the content.

Thank you so much! I try to do the occasional video of things I’d like to know myself but can’t find on KZread! Really appreciate the support!
@@Longstride Absolutely man. I’m glad to see you are enjoying the bike. Can’t wait until you are able to fully rev that thing up haha. I highly recommend if you haven’t already. Look into Rottweiler performance and go for a power commander 5 along with all the other things. It’s an absolute night and day difference. I use their stuff on all my bikes and can’t recommend them enough. Thanks again for the video!
Good video! So the bike is still stock? Do you plan to make any changes and if so what kind? It sounds like this is a better bike in your opinion that the BMW bike?
Ha ha, not better, different 😃 the new GS 1250 and even my old 1150 are still supremely comfortable for long journeys…. But….. the new Norden gives you 80% of the long range comfort but with much better weight and handling and much easier to handle off road.
So much better looking than the newer ktm advs.
I can highly recommend the Givi crash guards. Fit is great and it does not bolt to the engine. Just order the ones for the 790/890 Adventure (R)
Thanks I think I will! Are they easy to install?
@@Longstride Yes, very easy. My friend MIchael Fiedler has a great step by step video on how to install them. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKFpo5RxZKvbY7Q.html There are a couple of spots where a little muscle is needed to get the parts lined up to some bolts but nothing difficult I assure you.
Have been waiting for it since announcement, went out to the dealer to buy one. Test rode it, buffeting was the worse thing I've ever experienced on any bike ever, I don't believe any screen would sort it. Engine has good performance but horrendously boring, it's like riding a hand mixer with similar sound. Such a shame ...
Husqvarna have a touring screen.
cant order it in US last i checked , YET anyway
@@justsomedude445 it's in uk. And it's clear.
@@barrysalmon9892 clear would be good to me , i cant seem to get one here but ill try again i think ill go to dealer when they open tomorrow and ask if they can order it yet , i added the 'Givi' add on spoiler and am taking it off , waste of money
@@justsomedude445 I have it on my configuration list. Tried to put picture on here but don't know if I can?
@@barrysalmon9892 ill be looking and asking for that and springs constant till i find both , i can recommend not to bother with the add on spoiler in my opinion total waste of $
Good thoughts. My first bike in 32 years and I love mine. My mum was from Hampshire and I grew up in Cheltenham! I have the Rottweiler Arrow mirrors installed onto the Barkbusters and Storm hand guards. I thought the mirrors would be to small but they are a little wide angled and give a great view behind me. The mirror glass is superb! If you are a green laner then definitely get Barkbusters. Cheers!
Thanks! So the arrows fit ok on bark busters? Could you please tell me which model to buy for the Norden? Standard 890 set?
