I own a 2006 Toyota Highlander HYBRID with just over $180,000 miles. It has required a new radiator fan assembly, shop repairs under the hood due to a vacuum leak, 2 new radiators, new left & right headlight assemblies, 4 new power window regulators/motors, new climate control assembly, new radio, interior blower motor replaced, new left rear LED light assembly (brake/backup/turn signal) replaced and the most expensive repairs were 2 brake actuators (unique to the hybrid version) replaced at $3,200.00 each. Each of the 2 new brake actuator replacements required killed any cost savings in fuel, and them much, for being a hybrid. Worse yet the expensive brake actuator replacements are only warranted for 1 year each time.
The color is very nice, but I’m a little claustrophobic so I will be going for the natural color. 😁. I need as much light as possible. I will also get a rainfly to keep the tent drier and cooler and to save the canvas from sun damage.
@@SuzanneWho You can’t go wrong with any of the colors!
It's a big tent. I have the older model of it, in a light color. I love the green though. The windows are bigger in that newer one. Overall, the tent is a very spacious one and I was in it during a rainstorm and was completely dry inside. The pros for me are...easy to set up for one person and take down. Because its sturdy, I feel safe in it. The con's, they are pricier than most other tents and are heavier. But the pros outweigh the con's and if the tent wasn't heavier than most it would likely not be as good.
Great video :)
@@angie.frazier thanks mom!
You guys sold me on the green color it looks good in the woods
OME 3" on my :1997 TLC 80, 2009 Hilux D4D, 1973 TLC FJ 40. Next? Tacoma TRD... No faults, no issues, no failures. Ever. My only gripe is the paint quality.
Thank you ! I was struggling about which car I should get and with this video I am definitely going for an oldie Highlander, I like your vibes guys !
I would hardly call this engine "simple". It is actually fairly exotic compared to the Chevy, Ram, or Ford. A twin cam on a V8 is quite amazing!
Simple compared to turbo/supercharged/hybrid engines was my point. You’re right though, twin cam v8s are odd. The 2UZ was pretty state of the art back in the late 90s but is simple compared to modern engines.
Bro has that lexus money now lol congrats very cool
💰
Where is that center upgraded display from? 😮
They’re great engines, and keep in mind: every engine has something that can fail and cause the entire thing to break, whether it’s this in the 4.7 or the 12 valve 5.9 Cummins diesel that has that killer dowel pin.
Inexpensive= low cost. Cheap= Low Quality.
I seem to recall Scotty saying he had never seen one of these belts break.
@@davids4795 wouldn’t surprise me! I’ve heard stories of them going 300k miles on the original. I don’t recommend it, but certainly not something to constantly worry about.
I ha e had a 2004 Sequoia dince new. Another issue is that the guide rails for the rear hatch window rusted out. I was a le to buy a set of OEM guide rails from a Toyota dealer on line for $200. Fixed it in a couple of hours and back to normal.
I just put OME Medium 2.5" kit on my 2016 TRD offroad tacoma, installed it myself, along with new upper control arms. I've always used OME on my old landcruisers too, always good value and performance. Love it, my tacoma did 134k miles on the stock suspension and had gotten pretty mushy. New OME feels great, don't do a lot of offroading but I haul heavy loads (hay, camper, lumber etc) so the stiffer suspension keeps me from riding the bump stops
My local shop is wanting $3k for 3" lift + spacers + wheels & tires. Is that decent in 2024?
What type of lift?
@@TheFraziers I don't know honestly. They just said 3" The lift with parts and labor was about $1,500 and the wheels and tires were about the same price
I’d say you probably need to do a deep dive of research before pulling the trigger on suspension before spending $3k on something. $3k for all of what they are including sounds a little too cheap to be good stuff. I would never lift an IFS vehicle 3” by the way. Great way to ruin your ride. Stick with 2” or less.
@@TheFraziers awesome thank you for the info! I feel like it sits up a decent amount stuck. I was just wanting to put a little bit more aggressive tires and I know that if you Go wider. Sometimes they will rub
Fantastic explanation. Thank you.
Have the same exact model bought it few months ago have shift issue between2&3 &3&4 gears changed the trans. Fluid two times still doing it Any one else with this problem ..? How to fix?
My 2004 Toyota Highlander crossed over 500,000 last month. My mechanic just shakes his head, every time I take her in for servicing. I thank God for giving me angels for tires and Im so happy with this Blessed SUV!
Glad to see you guys are back! And congratulations on the baby! Fantastic news! Babies are great! I recommend having many. Wish we would’ve had more! You’ll never wish you had less.
I’ve always wanted a springbar! I have family members that live in SLC and camp with those and love them. Also I’ll never be mad about anyone hanging out in an aspen grove. My favorite and most magical place to be ✨
Congrats on the baby! Looks like a dope tent :)
Congratulations on the baby!
Holy moly!!! theirs a new Frazier?!?! congrats!! wheres the sequoia??
Watch our previous video for all the updates 👍
I recently titan swapped my nissan xterra with OMEs in the front with 700 lb springs as well and I had the same concerns based on people's complaints. I have rocksliders and a 150 lb bumper and skid plate, (I'm also 225 lbs), and I was surprised at how smooth it rides on the trails with a decent amount of crawling. These were supposed to be placeholders until I can afford some remote reservoir shocks but I may just keep running these as long as they suit my needs.
I have not got far in the video yet but I must say I have a high mile 2004 highlander limited as a second vehicle and I am very proud to say that it is probably one of the most reliable cars I’ve ever owned. The only thing it needs is a rear window either put on track or a motor.
My 2006 is factory single stage paint no clear coat at all 😮
Runs like a bee
I had 270000 miles on my 4.7. This is before I replaced timebelt
I just bought a 2019 Highlander with 66k, I looks, feels, and drives like a brand new SUV. I also bought a 1987 5:01 Chevy Celebrity new for a company car and the transmission blew at around that mileage. Toyota is a great company.
man i just found your video back, More update on the highlander please
I have a 2004. It has the 4x4 button but the shift knob down under it for 4hi, lo and N. If I have 4x4 turned off, should that shifter be in the neutral position? Or does it matter? Also if you have it in four-wheel drive and you have the differential locked, What is the process of turning everything off? That's what I'm confused about. Do you put it in neutral? Do you put it in park?
I had the VSC/Trac lights come on and then engine shuddering and reduced power. I finally got the OBDII code C1234 (it would erase after the car turned off). Recalibrating didn't work. I replaced the yaw rate sensor. Expensive little part but fixed the problem. There was a recall on the early Sequoias for this part.
Got ours for my son from my brother in law who bought it from new. Needs a few updates. Just did all brakes & rotors, serpentine & alternator belts, transmission fluid, power steering fluid. Car has 278,000 miles. Recently changed plugs and oil. One of the plugs was totally burnt in & hard to get out. I suspect my brother in law never changed it. Maybe we got a bad set of plugs cuz the car did not run well so we got a set of new coils & Denso plugs. Got the 1st 4 in but the back coils & plugs under the manifold are hard to get to! So we'll do those soon enough. Luckily we got the ones that matter and the car really runs nice & smooth now. Next project is the timi g belt/water pump and differential. We hear s slight whine from the transmission tnough it shifts well. Added lucas transmission additive when we did the transmission oil change (not flush). All in all its a tank & feels solid
I found an ‘06 Sequoia for sale by a guy who goes to the same mechanic that I do. He put in a Surefire remanufactured 2UZ-FE motor from AutoZone at 195k bc old one skipped timing. Is the Surefire a sufficient motor or should I run far away? It is currently at 205k and also had radiator replaced.
I’m not familiar with Surefire but honestly, I’d run from anything with a reman engine. Lots of problems can be invisible for a while with a reman engine, long enough to surpass a warranty. I’d keep searching to find one on an original, well maintained engine even if it’s a little higher mileage.
@@TheFraziers I don’t plan on driving it more than 5k a year if that helps. My previous car was an ‘06 Expedition that I used to haul a motorcycle to the track and did about 13k in the 3yr+ I owned it until the timing chain skipped and I was left with the decision to put $5k+ into a vehicle that wasn’t worth that with the condition of the exterior and front seats so I just sold it to a junkyard.
There's also the spider roof rack...it's no drill....looks kinda sketch but the tundra guys say they work
Awesome video! And congrats!
Just want you to know the good news of the Gospel. The bad news is that you and I (everyone) are sinners. And since God is Holy He doesn’t put up with sin. So sin leads to hell. The good news is God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins on the cross. This means Jesus paid the debt we owed but couldn’t pay. So if one repents and places faith (trust) in Jesus Christ they can be assured of heaven. I love you and so does God.
We believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life!
@@TheFraziers Amen!
Spacer ?
No spacers, but these wheels have a 1mm offset so they are pushed out a little further than stock.
Congratulations! Highlander if its a boy Sequoia if its a girl 🤭
How are they holding ? Do u recommend these shocks?
No! They’re horrible lol. 😂 See pinned comment for link to update video
Truly have missed you guys, and I hope you're back. Love your chemistry along with the great videos. Love the new wheels and Congratulations on the baby-to-be!!
Congrats by the way!
Love it, My girlfriend and I did this a few years ago in September in the snow and it's one of my favorite memories from when we first started dating.
A little one on the way! Congratulations! Thats very exciting, do you know the gender and possible names?
She has a name!
Great to see you guys. Nice ride. Felicidades on the baby. Gotta say I much prefer the hatch type. Can offer shelter when it’s raining. Also in the states, a left to right swinging door is a pain.
Yes, those are the cons of the barn door I foresee. Time will tell if they are a big deal for us or not
Welcome back and congrats again, I found this one in video because of your other video being posted where I could see the notification lol. When you said that you guys had a 2010 Prius I found that funny because of about the same time you got your Prius is about same time I got my Prius which is 2010 but in gold to compliment my '02 Sequoia lol, things definitely have changed because for me I have changed jobs got a lift on the Sequoia now and have a trailer too for overlanding lol.
Hey, welcome back. New ride & baby on the way? Congratulations. All the best.
Yup! Some additional details in our previous video. Thanks for watching!
Welcome back and congrats!
I just purchased an 04 limited with 140k miles. Your channel is awesome and had gotten me so excited to get out with the new rig and explore. Love y’all’s content a ton!
I would add that there are aftermarket rear hatch mechanisms in metal rather than plastic. Also obviously, timing belt and water pump every 90k
