When I was faced with the situation of repairing an older dslr, I found it simply made more sense to replace it with a more modern mirrorless camera. I considered it a good excuse for an upgrade. Best wishes.

I could see how you may come to that conclusion. Could be. I don't support any of the political parties -- in this case I'm simply looking at the odds of this event happening, and the odds of the multiple failures of the security personnel, and it seems improbable that it was just a matter of luck or incompetence. But, this is just an example -- overall the message is to be critical of all sorts of unusual events that may occur in one's life. Thanks for watching.

@@Barry-Watson Examine Trump's political career, and you'll see a pattern of relentless attacks from the outset. All of them were based on lies and ultimately failed. Even this recent assassination attempt was unsuccessful. I don't even like the guy, but seeing all these baseless attacks has made him look good. People seem to hate Trump without any real reason, as if it's some kind of syndrome. He truly is a resilient fighter.

Thanks, I agree with much of that. My observations about the events at this rally don't have anything to do with how I feel about the candidate or their positions. One of my reservations with the choices in this election is electing anybody over the age of 75 to such a demanding position. It certainly has been an interesting election cycle so far.

We have the same noise problem here in the UK. Laptop bricks, lightbulbs, TV's, you name it, they kick out so much crap. and the worst thing is they put that noise onto the electric wiring which acts as an antenna and radiates it all over the place. There are EU regulations to cover this, but it seems most manufacturers don't take any notice. Stuff imported from China is the worst, they don't fit ANY of the filters.

I get the don't believe the hype stuff, generally good advice. Be skeptical and if do your due diligence before commiting to something which seems to good to be true. You lost me at the assassination attempt lol. Is the message here to disbelieve it was real? Was it to not believe that he lived because of divine intervention or some miracle? Maybe this is an attempt at reverse psychology where you imply the shooting was staged to give viewers an example of what is being hyped and to not believe it was a set up? On the other hand, could this is be a video that goes beyond not trusting politicians to the point where the assassination was a conspiracy in the same vein of the moon landing being faked? Dude, this is a great story. So earlier in my life i lived in a crappy apartment at a certain beach town somewhere... While I was there a guy in the apartment next to me that was a very well educated guy who used to be a criminal defense attorney that had been disbarred for doing drugs and some other stuff... But anyway, he and I hung out a bunch and mostly just goofed off and laughed at tourists trying to get at quarters we had glued to the sidewalk while we knocked back cold ones on the weekends. We would go to local bars where you could only play music with those stupid 0.75c per song juke boxes that always seemed to be run by shady ppl. But some bars would put on the radio when it was early for the locals. Anyway, one day my neighbor, lets call him, "Jared" asked me, "Dude I want to start a pirate radio station and play great music with no ads for the local bars". So eventually he got a transmitter and set it up in his place because "Jared" always said that he would use his extensive legal background to throw anyone off. Someone... used a network analyzer to tune up an antenna that was put on the roof. Also an empty FM band was chosen to not conflict with anyone. The FCC never showed up and that thing played ad-free music for several summers until some lightning hit the antenna during a storm and killed it. But for a while, locals would go to bars for 10 or so miles around and they would tune in to non-stop 24/7 classic rock!

Hi Barry, I'm a fellow Minnesotan. As a high school student, I was also on pirate radio in St. Paul a long time ago. the station stated after 3 pm and all day Saturday and Sunday with some fellow friends and young radio enthusiasts. Our FM station did not get out as far as yours, only about 2-5 miles depending on the terrain. We used a Radio Shack wireless mic (p-Box Kit) and substituted parts for a stronger output. The power source was two 12-volt car batteries in series (24 volts). We also made sure not to interfere with other stations. After broadcasting for a year we discovered other pirate stations that existed in Minneapolis and made friends with them. The guys at our station and the other pirates had a love of radio and most went on to work for major commercial stations. I eventually did evenings at a 50,000-watt Country FM station in Minneapolis. Others did bigger things, one guy working at our St. Paul station went to work in Dallas and was named the Billboard major-market program director of the year 2-year in a row. Another worked at a Minneapolis 50,000-watt AM station doing overnights, and one became a well-known program director and later operations manager at the major Classic Rock station in Minneapolis. These stories, airchecks, and photos can all be seen and heard at the following website: TwinCitiesRadioAirchecks.com/pirateradiotwincities.html A number of us went to Brown Institute, a broadcast school in Minneapolis. The Saint Paul owner/operator and site owner worked up near you in Northern MN in at a station in Grand Rapids, MN in 1972 on the air and as the chief engineer. Fortunately, we did not get a visit from the FCC. Not sure how that happened. We had a request phone number given over the air and took requests., We were on regular hours every week. Doing all the things that can get you a door knock from the FCC. We were underage at the time, not hurting anyone or any station, just having lots of fun. Thanks, Barry for a great story. Hope you like the website.

Im thinking about this. Soon all radio broadcasting will be converted to digital for NO GOOD REASON because analog is still used now and obviously is capable of reaching a huge audience. This mandatory and unnecessary conversion to the inferior and fallible method of digital broadcasting will leave a surplus of cheap reliable analog broadcasting equipment and a ton of radios incapable of receiving a digital signal leaving a surplus of DEAD AIR. Analog equipment isn't sensetive to E.M.P.'s, solar flares nor is it hackable. I challenge you to find any instance where analog equipment failed during a ufo, cryptid, or other paranormal photographing, filming, or audio recording. If theres anyone that wants to say something to a lot of people the stars will align to do that very soon. Of course this form of freedom of speach is illegal but if the cause is just... who cares. Personally im sickened by the idea of free listening without free speech. I cant tell you how bad over the air radio sucked before Howard stern. Sniveling parents, religious groups and... ill say it... RICH WHITE PRICKS lamed up radio, television, America in general and now the internet. There is virtually nowhere you can go that isnt policed because people that made more money than you cried about language, parties, bands, race tracks, camp gatherings, beach bonfires, and even excessive speed on a bicycle while using the power of money to threaten retribution for their minor discomfort because your family gathering you planned out in the woods is too loud for the dick in the half million dollar coach to sleep at 7pm. Setup a pop up soup kitchen in Beverly hills bus in homeless and see how long it takes for the cops to SHUT IT DOWN. Im generation x. If you're younger than me you'll never have as much fun as i did because its no longer legal. A big middle finger to law enforcement that enabled rich white pricks to take away so much freedom from the rest of us over tit for tat that was never an issue of public safety. YOU SUCK 😎

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I'm happy to offer advice, but I'm not really interested in doing bench repair of equipment, particularly equipment using smt technology where the components are so tiny. Most of the problems I've seen with these amplifiers are defective diodes in the power supply board, Replacement diodes are inexpensive and available from parts sellers such as DigiKey. The hard part about servicing these amplifiers is simply how small the components are and how tightly packed the circuit board is, and the lack of end user repair support from the manufacturer.

I know that for me, when I had a whole lot of inner turmoil that was really putting me through the wringer, it was a friend of mine who told me that what I was feeling was not normal, and that I should seek help (aka therapy). The therapy taught me information about myself I didn’t even know about, and helped me right the good ship. But it wouldn’t have happened had my friend not told me that no, not everyone is carrying around the kind of despair that I was experiencing back then. Yeah, giving your phone number out was making it a bit too easy for them to find you. The way these things work is that they only investigate complaints of interference (usually). Sure they could get a detector van out, but why would they bother? If a certain DJ who you were essentially sharing the time slot with and playing music that people actually wanted to listen to got his noise out of joint, getting the address through official channels is pretty easy. The amount of time between that phone call and when the feds turned up in your driveway was the amount of time it took them the decide to action to complaint. Your Dad was right - it's all good until you get caught. Many years ago a few ham buddies decide to do an experiment bouncing a UHF signal off the moon. We'd got as far as building the high gain Yagis (that bit was my work) and putting the transmitter together when word came down that it might not be such a great idea to proceed with our plans. Our mistake was that we discussed it on air a few times, in fact I seem to recall that some of our planning was done that way, and "Mrs Grundy" was once again the killjoy. I have no idea what happened to those antennas. An electrical engineer / radio tech was the ostensible owner of them since he supplied the materials and I just welded it up for him. They were way too long and way too directional to be any good for anything else except maybe a very directional and very private repeater. I want to say there was 27 director elements on each antenna, but it was a long time ago now. If we'd been a bit more discreet we would have done our experiment and more than likely no one would have been any the wiser. This was about thirty years ago, give or take. I was really looking forward to doing the first tests too.

I have a friend that works with the utilities and he told me that they don't have meter readers anymore and that the meters themselves send a digital signal to satellites. Not sure if it true.
