ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute (ISEAS) 尤索夫伊萨东南亚研究院, formerly Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, was established as an autonomous organisation by an Act of Parliament in 1968. It was renamed ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute in August 2015 in honour of Singapore’s First President, Mr Yusof Ishak.
ISEAS is a research institute based in Singapore and dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic environment.

*Indonesia may need decades or more than 100 years to become a developed country, maybe it won't even happen at all* . Because in Indonesia corruption and misappropriation in the Indonesian government are commonplace. And in the current era, corruption is felt to be more numerous and widespread in various sectors. Just imagine that even when it comes to selling privately owned land, Indonesians can be extorted by corrupt authorities for up to 30% of the selling price. I think it is very difficult for a country like that to become a developed country.

In response to Chan's question who can take leadership to develop multi-polarity, I would have thought no one in South East Asia has that capability. But ASEAN itself is the ideal institution to take the lead.

If Asean can't even get a singable tune or assemble an Asean committee to modify one, how can it aspire to have an identity or to overcome contentious issues? It's time to get that started. Apart from songs and sports, there must be many more creative things that can be done to forge an Asean spirit. Ground up is as important as top down.

If those ASEAN wishes to stay in between China and US, and dare not challenge the west for their evil agenda, that is, break the ASEAN apart, that eventually the ASEAN will be broken up by the WEST. Due to the ASEAN's weakness not dare to stands up against the West. Only one voice from Prof. Mahbubani not sufficient dealing with the coming Tsunami from the West. That is, unless the ASEAN made their standing loud and clear and let the US/allies understood, that the ASEAN will always be with China in spite of any event takes place. That the US/UK/Europe will never give up for this piece of “Fat Meat” of the ASEAN. If they are made aware that ASEAN is stands between two Nations, that the US believe they have 50% chance to break the ties. They will do everything to reach their goal.

ASEAN MUST speak as truths, as facts, as powerful as Prof. Mahbubani countering the West Journalist's biased questions bashing China. Mr. Mahbubani spoken loud and clear and immediately put those propagandists reporters on their place and actually corrected their fraudulent statement. All the pundits, Scholars, experts and politicians should follow suit behind Mr. Mahbubani and bravely speaks the truth and hopefully silenced the west falsified mouth piece malign China. When the west attacking China, they are actually attacking ASEAN all together. Stands up, Speaks up and shape like a BIG MAN, not bow to the US/UK/Europe's atrocities around our world.
Once your economy is strong, you can speak out loudly and play the great role geopolitically, no matter to USA or China.
ASEAN is much stronger and effective. EU is good idea, but no independency is its fatal weak point. It is reason why Ukraine War happened.
