The thought that during all this conference realignment talk it has been suggested that these two historic universities are better off dropping their football programs infuriates me. I am honestly blown away that Tulsa is only on this list once. We have had some absolutely awful teams. Along with the school having (I believe to be) the smallest enrollment of any FBS team, and being a private college? On top of all that the one year they are on the list they had one of the hardest schedules, so it’s kind of a technicality. Great video keep it up! Video idea: A list of just “Meh” football teams, never great, but never bad. Always just forgotten about.

SMU did not go for the win against Arkansas, instead playing to a tie. Penn State, whose only loss that year was to Alabama, was the consensus national champion in 1982. Why? Four All Americans at Penn State (including two that finished in the top ten in the Heisman Trophy voting) to SMU’s one, Penn State played six opponents who went to bowl games (including two in the major bowls) to SMU’s one.

I think a cool video idea would be comparing the biggest/most unlikely upsets since 2000 using some sort of calculation like you did for the best and worst teams vids, which were all extremely fascinating.

SMU was doing what so many other large schools were doing at the time - making illegal inducements to players. The problem for SMU was their cheating actually led to significantly more wins and some titles along the way, so that attracted attention. If they were winning only 7-8 games, most folks would have turned a blind eye. Also, the fact that SMU got caught up in a newspaper war in Dallas between the Times-Herald and the Dallas Morning News meant that those newspapers were trying to break a big scandal to get clout, so it was easy for SMU to be investigated, locally.

Or credit to the program that won runner up for the Heisman in three different years, producing several different players that had much success in the NFL (including a Super Bowl victory), and two Rose Bowl victories? Academics can do more to hamper football success than help it in the new millennium. To be fair I'd say Sonny Dykes might have had more success at Cal had the academic reigns not been pulled so tight after the Tedford era. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out in Berkeley with the fallout of realignment and new younger chancellor.

You need to know that more than funding just for renovations and such, TITLE 9 was the main factor in not being able to bring it back. Since we have to “let the girls play”, WSU would have had to add an equal amount of funding/scholarships/facilities to meaningless women’s sports that no one watches and that don’t bring in any revenue for the school.

Nicely done. Suggest more acknowledgement that when their stadiums opened in 1920s, they were among the largest in the nation. Interesting that local media at the time reported crowd of 98,000 at Berkeley. Would like to know this historian's take on largest crowd at Stanford. I don't see an official recognition on the Stanford website. I recall that 91,000 some was reported in 1970 for game v. USC. I do join others in criticism that narrator uses "san Francisco" as a reference to both schools...could not "the Bay" or "Bay area" suffice? But great job.
